i'm 16, just found madder rose a few months ago and absolutely love them! i got super lucky and scored big time by finding the panic on cd at my local thrift store. very shocking since its such a small town. less than 3,000 people. i snatched that up obviously
i thank the ,''Mad Love'', soundtrack for introducing me to Madder Rose..so many great female alternative artists in the 90's that its hard to keep track !!
I love this song during my college days and until now. Always requesting this song on my fave Rock Radio Station NU 107.5 weekly and they always play it. Until now I know the lyrics. Love it.
I love the plainness of the singing in this - Mary Lorson sounding uncharactaristically like Alison Statton of Young Marble Giants. The arrangement makes it a beautiful soaring song, but it also has this very unadorned, earnest quality to it (which I naturally associate with being as young as I was when it came out). Ah, the 1990s.
I've heard this song on a local radio back in college and I've been looking for it. I even thought that the band's name is "Manny Rose and Pentecon". I couldn't search them in the net. Some weeks before, the same radio station played it again and took courage to ask from him. It just happens that DJs says "...Madder Rose and Panic On..." and not what I knew the name to be. Thanks to that DJ. I hardly knew this band.
This song is great but if I'm honest the first album is much better an absolute classic. I don't know why the label doesn't upload all the old videos in better quality
@brantwoodstudios does suck - that bring it down album has been a big part of my musical life since '93/'94 "Bring It Down" "Sugar Sweet" "Beautiful John" -- great great stuff - MR should have blown up bigger
I bought this album. Thanks to MTV's 120 Minutes for introducing me to Madder Rose. About the only thing MTV was good for. That and Post Modern. Everything else sucked.
Rick... That's a shame and I agree that Warner Music sucks, simply because your fans love the music, and you gave us the opportunity to see, hear, and appreciate it...Well, they cannot take out CDs away, thank God~~Sorry to hear about this.
I love Madder Rose, thanks for posting this! Now does anyone know what the name of this song is, it was in 1994 and I heard it on the radio a couple of times and was sure it was Madder Rose, the lyrics are something like: "there's a sign that says come in, please take everthing you see, everythings for free". Can anyone help?? ;)
This guitar mood in this song is so perfect. The "feel' of this song really is just so pure. But: A) I don't like their left wing politics B) I don't like their clothes and sense of style post 1996 C) I never liked their punk rock influenced bass player at all D) I like the drummer's feel and sound E) I do love Mary's singing, at 2:00 she really sounds great holding that "ohhhhn" F) Cote, had a cool sense of style 1994, then it changed for the WORSE. G) This song made my summer 1994
This is one of the hidden gems of the 90's

Great song. The drummer isn't bad either.
very sad dude!
This guitar mood in this song is so perfect. The "feel' of this song really is just so pure.
But:
A) I don't like their left wing politics
B) I don't like their clothes and sense of style post 1996
C) I never liked their punk rock influenced bass player at all
D) I like the drummer's feel and sound
E) I do love Mary's singing, at 2:00 she really sounds great holding that "ohhhhn"
F) Cote, had a cool sense of style 1994, then it changed for the WORSE.
G) This song made my summer 1994
It can be so upsetting to love a band but be unable to accept how they dress themselves.
