Wish I saw this survey! I bought mine for $675 at a police auction! All it needed was a radiator and a key, and she drove right off the trailer. The throwout bearing went out, but I've been very lucky with everything else. It's a GT, 136,000 miles with a lower mile rebuild, and a SOHN system and decat to boot! Going along the way with this car, I plan on doing a hybrid renesis turbo some day.
$2,700 for my 1st. Had ~119k mi. Dirty, abused. After years and restorative mods later I’ve realized what I really wanted was the 40th AE. So I found and got one for $20k. Very clean, 24k mi. all original. No regrets.
I believe in time they’ll only go up. In Australia r100,rx2,rx3,rx4 etc are to expensive. People are now buying rx8s and putting 13b and 20b conversions in them. They are great start up project with modern day luxuries that the other Rxs don’t offer.
I’ve been saying they blow up at 80,000 miles and they break often. that way the prices can stay low for us enthusiast! I’ve been slandering the rx8 for years (I own 2 and love them, I have a rotor tattoo lol) gatekeeping is the way trust. The RX8 is an epitome of an underrated car and it should stay that way
£5000, 26k miles on my white 40th anniversary edition, so far around £1.5k spent getting her to good standard before modding 👍🏻 she’s now my daily and I love it. Wanted once since I was 8 thanks to NFS carbon, most wanted and driven by madness as my reason for wanting one lol
I filled the survey form. Thank you for bringing us such interesting topics. 👍🏻 I paid my 2005 S1 4.5k€ 6 years ago (France). The engine was running fine but had the check engine light on due to some ECU misfunctions (wrong checksum in as-build data!). After reprogramming using FORScan, everything is alright ! 😃😃
Bought my first in 2016 a velocity red 2004 with 79k on original engine for £1800 rust killed it in 2018 I think it was :( bought a black 2006 pz with 51k last month for £2000
Bought my '04 RX-8 for $11,500 AUD back in August 2023 with a compression tested healthy motor. Since then, i have put in about $2,300 in repairs and upgrades and now it is in perfect running condition
I got mine last year for $2500, it was completely stock but now has every mod you can think of lol I'm currently half way done breaking in my streetport rebuild super happy with it. 04 base
I bought a 2006 Shinka gt for 2500 last week. I am the second owner and the car has 140,000 miles. I got every receipt for every oil change proof of Mazda dealership, putting a new clutch in it a new diff and replacing the engine. The owner has been pre-mixing for the de ration of this new motor. previous Owner thought something was wrong with the transmission or driveshaft because it vibrated and kind of clunk when moving, it also sped up with vehicle speed. I figured it out as a flat spot in the tire from it sitting so long.
1500 dollars 4 years ago was sapost to have had low compression threw some spark plugs and coils in it ran fine took it to a local rotory shop had them test compression was still above 8 bar on both housings so i was good
It has already started to go up here. I bought mine for 1500€ and average price was 3000-5000€. Right now the cheapest ones (that run) are minimum 8000€
The problem with prices on RX-8s is the cost of a replacement engine (Rotary or not.) Noone wants to pay too much for a car that will need an expensive repair just to be usable.
on the other hand if you get a £1-2k broken one, a rebuild costs £3k and you now have a 230bhp RWD manual sports car with a nice interior for less than 5 grand.
I think a well-maintained RX-8 volume will not appreciate significantly in the future. A low mileage that is not daily driven will appreciate in value.
@@richarddalkranian3261 I agree, a stock or Mazda speed well maintained low mileage rx8 will be the the new Rx7. The high mileage ones will sooner or later be scraped (due to too much wear and shit ton of random mods), also due to emissions and other regulations to come, that will unfortunately make driving it VERY expensive.
@@Drivenbymadness Mine is basically stock, with good interior and a recently rebuilt engine. I plan on driving it until the next major failure, transmission, engine blows up, differential explodes. I enjoy it not seeing another car identical to mine at every intersection.
Price very depend on location. In USA and UK S1 RX8 costs pennies 1-3k. In europe it'll be 6-8k. Prices increase when we talk about S2 and R3 as they are much less common. It'd be nice if survey would have option to select production year range for bought car
@Pc_Master_Race178 in my country if you have license and car theres no thing you cant insure it. Any insurance company will give me at least essential one.
I bought mine brand new in 2003. Total cost of ownership over 20 years ran me close to 40k.

I bought mine for 300 pounds and spent 2k modding it and rebuilding and welding it myself. I love it and constantly makes me smile.

A bargain for what you actually got!
I paid 33k for a black one gt, with 6k upgrades an love the thing worth every cent

I bought mine from the original owner in 2020. Its a 2006 with 40,000km on it, no scratches and was completely stock. I paid 10,000 cad.
I have two! Bought my first one for £16k back in 2007, my second was £1500 in 2018, I'm in Scotland 👋
3k-4k, bought in 2021. Rebuilt in early 2023.
Bought mine in 2017 for $3,400 with 105,000 miles.

Bought mine in 2023 for $8300 with 1uzfe non vvti in 🇵🇰
I traded an rx8 for a tattoo sleeve 😂. Client offered, I accepted. 2009 sport
Im on the fence if i should buy an rx8 or bmw 130i.
Been waiting for this video since I saw the survey lol.
I bought mine for 3,300$

I just bought one 2 days ago for $1
I put more money into it than what I paid and still not on the road

My 2003 Mazda RX8 was a bargain. One owner prior; $4,000.
I'm rooting it to go up up up!
I got mine for probably 18k. So add me to those five people lol
I hope for that money you got an immaculate one :D
you graph is wirdly set : you should have set in the X axis the increasing price, not increasing number, since it is price axis...

There was, but some people confused the year they bought it with the model year, so the results were not accurate and i had to skip them.
@Pc_Master_Race178 Crazy how an insurance company can refuse insuring a car!

Paid $9-k U.S. for one owner, well maintained, no -mods, and engine still pulls strong with 87-k miles. Plan to do rebuild when it’s time.
