- Don't you just LOVE the way that V4 engine screams??? I know I do!
My first proper trackday on my bone stock 1990 Honda VFR, other than its Bridgestone tires, which are a relatively aggressive compound for summer riding, but not dedicated trackday tires, by any means.
Don't expect much from my technique yet, especially as my movement over the bike still has tons of room for improvement (I am still moving while I'm already turning in... man, at least this vid helps me learn from my own mistakes...). Still, you will see as committed as ever to ride as fast as I can... safely... I think.
I also failed at the attempted helmet cam to be more of a wide-angle to be able to share my first person view, while you see me moving on the motorcycle, in order to get a better feeling of what's going on. Unfortunately, I forgot to check the angle settings on the helmet's gopro (and was obviously set to narrow...).
I tried to do this because I usually wonder myself watching motorcycle videos, about how riders position for cornering. There's never a proper angle to show you both how the rider is moving about on the bike, as well as seeing what's coming up ahead.
On the other hand, the Sony FDR's angle seems pretty neat for capturing both my movements and, when leaning for corners, you're able to see what's coming up ahead... if you have a big enough screen!
If the helmet cam is annoying in any way, just skip to around the 10min mark, where it ran out of battery.
As for performance, I started the day building up confidence and learning the track, as it was my first time ever at Alcarras. Let alone properly riding a motorcycle at the track... except for a short couple of heats on Castellolí on March 1st 2020 (yeah, what a time to do this!), with a huuuge cold (NOT that virus that put us all indoors for half a year, btw) in which I could barely stay on the bike, let alone move around, or enjoy the experience...
I started the day lapping 2min 10s and eventually ended up at 2min 7s in the last two heats (last one seen in this vid, held up with a bit of traffic in some key moments), which I consider quite a leap, but more than performance per se, in sheer confidence riding, which was exactly my goal... and not die. Mission accomplished!
Best random noob thing, I eventually got to barely scrape my slider. It's so mild and short I dare you to find the moment I do so (long right hander, if you need a clue for a bit of help).
Also, it was HOT that day. Classic July in Spain. Around 36 C / 95 F ambient. You could boil an egg on the asphalt, or my helmet, for that matter... It was so bad, you can hear my electric fan on as I enter in the pits... and I had been cooling down after going at really high speed for a bit then!!
Anyway, I'm always interested in your views of the video, camera angles, riding (yes, I still suck a LOT on two-wheels, but I'm making progress!), general channel content, etc.
Speaking of which, expect something very different for the next video upload! Anybody that has taken this much time reading (not even my mum, I bet...) wanna take a wild guess at what that next vid might be about??

Gran vídeo como siempre! Según comentas, parecen condiciones iniciales para echar un buen día de tandas (a pesar del calor): circuito divertido para motos como la tuya, poquito tráfico para poder ir pensando en la trazada más que en los otros, asfalto seco y calentito...
Si pones más vídeos por aquí todos podremos inspirarnos viendo cómo evoluciona tu curva de aprendizaje!
Quién sabe. Quizás algún día puedas subir a Nurbur con ella 🙆🏼♀️.
Aunque el calor se hacía duro físicamente, y hasta puedes escuchar que la moto entra a boxes con el electroventilador encendido al final vídeo, el confinamiento había hecho que la pista estuviera bastante sucia, sin goma, y sólo al final del día los rápidos dejaron de quejarse de la falta de agarre... yo con ir por el sitio ya tenía bastante!! 😁😁😁
El circuito, al igual que Castellolí con sus amplios radios, es muy de moto, y a mí me vino genial los radios amplios para probar distintas maneras de afrontarlas y tener el tiempo de asimilarlo.
Desde luego estoy en una rampa muy pronunciada de aprendizaje ahora, y noté un cambio notable de mi anterior primer trackday (con catarrazo) en Castelloli, a rodar aquí... pero es que durante el día cambié muchísimo, y vaya que si se agradece ir cogiendo referencias, confianza en la técnica, y en la moto...
Espero poder subir mucho contenido (edito, y por qué no, algún día de Nur también), y que se vayan apreciando las diferencias. Gracias por los ánimos 🙂🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
@@YoShImUrA53 He estado esperando a ver si a la entrada a pit llegabas a entrar en uno de los boxes y ver si tenías puesto un ventilador para poner delante del radiador de la moto. Curiosamente las temperaturas más altas en el circuito de refrigeración y la zona de escape se dan al parar la moto en el box, donde ya no tiene flujo aéreo que le baje la temperatura con el movimiento. Te recomiendo que compres uno y lo lleves los días de más calor, para que no sufra tanto la moto, en competición llevamos siempre y es de lo primero que se monta en el box jajaja.
Además puedes poner el casco apoyado encima unos minutos antes de salir y así te lo encuentras "seco" (o menos sudado) y fresquito, que siempre se agradece en verano en las horas centrales del día.

@@TheAurora1993 buenos consejos! Gracias! Intento bajar el ritmo de RPM, pero no de velocidad, sobre todo en curvas, antes de entrar, para wue de la mayor cantidad de aire a la moto y refrigere, en cuanto veo que la tanda ha terminado.
Supongo que no es suficiente, así que lo de tu ventilador es, como poco, para pedírselo a algún compi del box, que yo no tengo donde llevarlo, porque fui y volví rodando,... y demasiado que pude llevarme las gopros en la mochila... 😅

nice ride. i owned a RC36ii. Not as fast as other supersport but a good all rounder. Whts the max top speed uve tried on this bike of urs ?
Thanks! love the bike, yeah, but definitely more of a high speed tourer than an outright track performer, particularly in corners. I'm not really a top speed nutter, but definitely never gone faster than on this clip, I barely gazed a couple of times and was north of 240kmh (130+mph) right before the braking point at the main straight.
Que neumáticos le calzas para las tandas?
Bridgestone S21/S22 😉 aunque los llevo de diario desde que se los monté. Si llueve, no me complico y cojo el coche.
@@YoShImUrA53 ,yo entre entre en motorland con s21 también,gran neumático,,,,,,para estas motos en mi opinión no hace falta más ,,,,,,,por cierto los monto todo el año ,y en agua se defienden,encantado de verte también montado en moto.
