Nice job mate have one my self in fact have 3 viffers one of these a 88 fj model and a 2015 model 800 last of the 750 models were best off the bunch of the gear driven cam engine better than the first 800 gear driven cam one my mate has the first 800 gear driven one often ride them back to back. 750 more nimble and more sporty power wise both same .
Thanks Glyn. While the engine was out, I pressure washed it, then wire brushed it mechanically and by hand, then rubbed it down with Emery cloth and sandpaper. Degreased it, and then painted it with Simoniz tough gloss black (3 coats at least). The head covers were the same, lightly wire brushed (in drill), then rubbed down with various grades of wet and dry, finishing off with rubbing down compound and then Metal polish.
A lovely job, that looks absolutely superb. I bought one five weeks ago and am doing it up a bit, but nothing compared to what you have done. Wish your bike had been for sale at the time! Where did you get the paint job done? The hugger looks great, I might buy one.
You have done an amazing job on restoring this VFR. All credit to you.
Thanks David

Bike looks amazing, I’m interested in restoring one myself, can you tell me how you got the engine looking so good?

I did the paint job myself, I've done a few over the past 10 years. The hugger was on it when I got it, I don't know what make it is.
