    I give you 24 hours. for you to delete that music out of place, the VFR does not deserve it !! 24 hours. or the revenge of the VFR will be terrible, Ahahahahaha!!

      I'm not exactly holding my breath here... it's a VFR! Now if you were eluding to the fact that my Ducati 996's battery will die today, you would have been correct... dead as a doornail.

    Have one of these as a track bike Repsol colours I am a shit rider but this baby let me go around the track as fast as most in the novice class I was 60 so give me a bit of slack ??? Now at 70 still on the road version All I can say after 50 odd years of riding you will not get a better bike very very reliable not bad to look at a little dated perhaps but let me say this!! This bike will out perform the average rider in other words if you ride the I.O.M. T.T. then ok it might be slow but for you and me its bloody quick and comfy. I bought a Bema 1200G.S. because they are in vouge but what a pile of shit that was over priced let me down several times and as heavy as a Sherman tank. So to any budding rider be you 16/20/30/40/50/60/70/80 get a V.F.R. you will have fun and it will never ever break the bank what more do you want ???? Stay safe and ride safe for God sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ahhh! That brings me back man. I sorely miss my 97 VFR and have been looking for another since the day it left me. Luckily I still have my 2000 RC51 that I have owned for 22 years now (has it really been that long?) and we've done 56k so far and I love it! Your stable of bikes is spot on to what I'd have if I could find them, although I do like the 1998 900RR in red the best. Keep the videos coming as I obviously have to live vicariously through you now :) .

    • @counter-steer
      @counter-steer  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks man! Yeah the RC51 is one of my all time favourite bikes. The market’s going to turn in your favour soon I think. I would give half my wedding-vegetables for an Urban Tiger Fireblade (or the red & white Erion colours) but you just can’t find those in Canada.

      Follow up to my previous comment... I finally found another 97 VFR close by and picked it up as a project bike back in May. Full restoration needed as it was filthy and in need of a lot of new parts (also for my peace of mind) so have been busy this summer and turned the corner on reassembly a few days ago. It was down to frame and engine. Looking forward to a ride again someday although it may not be until next spring!

    Had one 1996 model from year 2001 it was a good bike but the fairing is shit and make the bike not stabile in high speed had one honda Cbr600 1993 that bike is much better for everything

  • @paulelverstone8677
    @paulelverstone8677 6 місяців тому

    Yeah, nice. Some will argue that the Gen 5 is the better bike because but I've always preferred this one. Makes little difference - they're both great...

    • @counter-steer
      @counter-steer  6 місяців тому +1

      Exacto! Having owned and loved a 5th Gen I can tell you it's pretty close. I loved the throttle response of the Fi but the 4th Gen just feels more nimble and the engine's a little more exciting with the higher redline. For long distances and daily commute I'd probably agree on the 5th Gen... but on looks and pure joy to ride... 4's got my vote!

    I have a 2001 VFR. 520 conversion chain 2 up rear sprocket really wakes her up. Givi wind screen with x-tra on top, excellent wind protection. ABM straight bar. Very comfortable. Yoshimura exhaust. I can cruise triple digits all day long. I also changed the steering stem bearings to tapered . The longer I own and ride this bike it really grows on a guy. I'm 65 as long as I can throw my leg over, keep on.

    Been on mine rc36 today was same giving it some beans i am still liking the vfr1200f had it a year now once your a vfr owner you will always have one thats why i have 3 off them that v4 grunt is ace and handling and brakes to match you will have to try the 1200f with in 5 miles off a test ride you will want one.

    • @counter-steer
      @counter-steer  2 роки тому

      True that! I’m out of the buying game ‘till I solve my space issues so I better not accidentally throw my leg over a 1200f any time soon…

    I had both, this Gen. 4, 750cc version, and the Gen. 5, 800cc version. I liked the 800 better, mostly because it was fuel injected and anything with a carburetor is a problem waiting to happen. After that Honda lost me when they forsook gear driven cams on the VFR platform and added V-Tech valves. The added mechanical complexity just didn't appeal to me, and the weird, "turbo-like" burst of power that came on at the most inopportune moments was unsettling.

    • @counter-steer
      @counter-steer  3 місяці тому +1

      I hear ya! Vtec is where they lost the plot. I prefer the 750 F2 to the 800 fi because it’s a bit closer to that RC30 magic. The 800 interceptor’s a great bike and I loved mine but found it less of a thrill at high revs & in the twisties. If I had to go touring I’d probably go for the 800 though.

      @@counter-steer My '94 750 got totaled when it pitched me off during a 6th gear, near WOT tank slapper while I was wheelieing over a nice rise in a favorite high-speed stretch of road in the boonies. Thank goodness for my Aerostich Roadcrafter suit, which definitely saved me from what otherwise would have been my second case of bone deep, full-body road rash.

    They simply sound so good! I haven't had the privilege of riding the RC36 but I did ride the last gen VFR800, a bit too much 'tour' not enough 'sport'. I always bookmark ads for RC36s though.

    • @counter-steer
      @counter-steer  2 роки тому +2

      Exactly, I had the 800fi and felt the same way… the RC36 feels closer to the RC30, more nimble and a blast in the twisties!
