In regards to safe taming you can use aspect of the monkey for dodge and scorpid sting in case the trap breaks. Remember to tag the mob with an autoshot or you can get griefed by others tagging the mob.
Why not just keybind the pets growl? I dont understand why you would make a macro then keybind it just to growl when you can keybind it without a macro.
In my case, I already have a bunch of Keybinds set up that I have used for over a decade. I'd rather make a Macro, so that when I play another character, crtl+4 for example isn't bound to some skill he doesnt have :)
Here's a tip a lot of people don't know. Your Call Pet button also brings your pet back to you. You can use this to bring it back when you sent it to something you actually dont want to attac. It's not a PrO gAmEr tIP or anything, but a lot of people don't know this.
Someone added an interesting tip in another video of setting those two commands to your mouse wheel. Forward scroll sends the pet and backward scroll to bring him back. I found it helpful.
You don't need the macro. Here is what I do: - Cast Eyes and make my pet jump down - shift + scroll down is a /petstay macro - scroll down is a /petfollow macro So all you need to do is cast eyes and jump, then shift + scroll to stay. Jump down yourself, then scroll to get him following you.
Make a macro that is just: /cancelaura Eyes of the Beast /petstay Control your pet to where you want it to go, and then spam the macro a couple times (EotB seems to automatically put the pet to follow when cancelled for some reason, but spamming petstay overrides that).
yea i was having this issue as well. after reading Tigerwaw's comment. i tried making my own macro and it works fabulously. /cast [mod:alt] Eyes of the Beast /cancelaura Eyes of the Beast /petstay Just switch the modifier to whichever u prefer. But make sure the modifier does not overlap with other keybinds else it won't work. For example, u put it at 5 then modifier is shift but u have another spell which is binded to shift+5 . Just in case you don't know what the command does, It does the follow, hold modifier , press key or mouse click to cast Eyes of the Beast position your pet then press macro without modifier to cancel Eyes of the Beast press macro again without modifier for petstay Downside of this macro is that u have to manually put ur pet to follow again =(
@@calvinchin8795 your idea is brilliant. I set this macro on mouse wheel press and petattack and petfollow on scroll up/down. Now I have exceptional control over my pet.
You pet dummied wrong imo. Send your pet in, let him attack so he stays in place, then sprint ahead until he despawns. Then immediately recall. That way he never dies.
Pet control and melee weaving... Would all be very solid tips if only it wasn't all bugged in Classic 😅 Hunter so doomed 😢 Jokes aside, good list 🙂 Side note: you can melee weave without without any speed increase when both your ranged and melee weapons are slow. Wow I didn't care to pay for eyes of the beast skill but now i get how it would have avoided pulling all of deadmines when i jumped down lmao. after that run i just started dismissing before jumping lol. do you think its important sometimes to send the pet first rather than call it back again?
Tomik not 50%, but 50. If you look at your combat log when you give your pet food you will see he gains happiness, the food that does ~850 health does like 8x + 37.5 happiness every tick.
both your pet pathing macro's dont work, the retail one just calles it back and you start recasting eyes of the beast, the other one gives errors and kicks you from the server
Hi mate I was wanting to ask you a question about pets I have furious howl rank4 from the Bloodax Worg from LBRS. I had to abandon him to tame Brokentooth as Brokentooth was up so didn't have time to stable the Worg Basically I want another worg but I cba going into LBRS again to tame another. My question is, could I just tame a Ember Worg for example in Burning Steppes and teach him furious howl now? Or are only the LBRS worgs able to learn it
Elites do not change any stats of a pet family except attack speed where it could be better or worse. A 1.0 attack speed pet will do half as much damage, but attack twice as often, as a 2.0 attack speed pet, so they deal the same damage. The benefit comes from interrupting spell casters quicker and more often. This is why Broken Tooth, a 37 rare spawn, is highly sought after by all hunters.
Why would you not have growl used on CD? its really easy to steal aggro from a pet and claw does not do enough to matter in the aggro department, even for BM. The only time its worth controlling is when chain pulling where its pointless to have your pet growl when the mob is sub 20%
to tame pets you can also just tame a nearby trash pet use it to tank the pet you want just before the channel finishes abandon the trash pet. and you should finish the channel before it can reach you.
Pretty sure in vanilla you cannot tame a pet while you have your pet out. This is probably a private server thing. I remember not being able to on an alt hunter I had. Gave an error like "you already have an active pet" or something lile that.
mixwell1983 the already have a pet check was made at the end of the tame pet channel making it possible to abandon the pet just before channel finished to get the new pet back when I played in 2005, but it is possible that official wow classic it won’t work because the backend of the game is much newer
I would suggest to edit your macro to growl. In my opinion it is better to toggle autocast, then simple cast it. If you have pet with multiple focus dumps (like cat), you have to spam macro to cast it (or pay focus for your pets ... focus), because he will not have focus in time of your casting. If you toggle it to autocast, he will cast it in the first possible moment so you dont need to think about it for 5 long seconds :) Also, If you taming something, maybe would be better to set off the trap little bit away from mob, start with distracting shot, auto, conclusive, kite it to the trap and of course tame it. First of all, you get more aggro, so if someone is trying to heal you, or just mess with you or mob alone, you will not lose thread so easily and you can finish taming. Second, auto will tag mob, so no one will try to steal your mob (if you are taming rare with drop rates, there is posibility that someone will try to steal it). Anyway good video, that eye of the beast trick is very nice!
I tried the pet Pathing macro and it just called my pet back when I hit it again this is what mine looks like /cast Eyes of the Beast /cancelaura Eyes of the Beast /petstay /petfollow

Why would you need a macro just to give your pet the Growl command...? You know you can keybind the pet bar, right? Default the Growl command on your pet's bar would be CTRL+7. Seems like a waste of time to make the macro. Waste of a macro slot (if you're not using some addon to expand the slots. I, at least, prefer to keep my character-specific macros on the character-specific tab) and a wasted slot on your actionbar. Which, as a hunter, would probably be filled with Engineering items, potions, probably a few different ranged weapons with different procs and a load of other macros. I also don't see the point of your Eyes of the Beast macro. So you made an entire macro to cast EotB, tell it to stay, then stop EotB and then to follow..? Because that sequence was too complicated to just do? CTRL+3, jump, EotB the pet down, move on. Really don't think that needs a macro. Save macros for when you're trying to do different things at the same time. And I wouldn't call Pet Dummying and Trap-Taming that advanced.. Running back and forth between melee and ranged is a nice touch, I suppose. But others have already pointed out that it won't work so well in actual classic. A difference in pathing from Private servers, I suppose. I wonder about Private servers, by the way. Blizzard used to get all pissy when they found out you'd play on a private server.
