    Just a heads up. At the start of your rotation you should actually let your auto shot off BEFORE you use a sting not after. The gcd of your sting will delay your autoshot

    • @MetaGoblin
      @MetaGoblin  5 років тому +3

      I normally strafe slightly to wait for that gcd but it's anyone's preference really I just like to get serpent sting on asap

    • @nixn6412
      @nixn6412 4 роки тому +9

      If you’re quick enough the sting can hit almost as your auto shot lands.....

    Hunters don't need leveling guides. You don't level the hunter, the hunter levels you.

    Combat doesn't have any effect on your mana regen. It's only the 5-second rule that matters. You can just auto shoot while your mana regenerates. This means you don't waste time sitting down to drink when you instead could fire off auto-shots. You are also not really losing mana if all you do is use hunters mark + sting or multi-shot. Using rank 1 multi-shot is also ideal due to the mana/damage scaling not being favorable for sustain.
    Intellect delays you needing to drink, while spirit can eliminate that need altogether.

      @thendcomes 5 років тому

      The tip about Rank 1 Multishot is great. However, keep in mind that it's going to be worse than Arcane Shot when you first get it and it takes a while in the leveling process before it's efficient. For example, you need to be hitting autoshots for 160 just to equal to the DPM of Serpent Sting Rank 1, which doesn't happen until the 40s. Of course if you can land it on 2 or 3 targets it's very efficient.

      I feel like this comment deserves more likes. It’s true, regen is based on the five second rule not whether or not you’re in combat. If you go with “of the wolf” gear you’ll be stacking agility and spirit and once you open with a sting + arcane shot (or multi-shot) just auto attack the rest of the mob’s health down which will allow you to begin regenerating mana before it’s even dead. Then instantly move onto the next target.
      You could potentially have no down time when grinding mobs. If you’re playing horde there’s a small quest chain at Camp Taurajo in The Barrens that will give you buffs of your choice. One of them is +25 spirit for 30 mins. Very useful.

    Nice guide mate. I love your idea of swapping out pets based on movement speed. However, I hate leveling low-level pets once max level. So I'm going to tame 1.2 Attack speed cat/wolf around level 20-24 and level them both up to 60 with me. Also, Nice to see a talent build that goes past 31 points in BM while leveling. However, I didn't think you went deep enough. I would go solid 39 points into BM before even looking at MM tree. With DPS pets (Boar excluded) you should consider more defense early levels (Stamina and Armor). IAoTH is nice but your pet does way more damage, so save those points for Unleashed Fury and Ferocity. Also max out Ferocity before Unleashed Fury, to unlock Frenzy 4/5 before Intimidation/Beastial Wrath. Second, go for 2/2 Spirit Bond over Bestial Discipline to reduce downtime healing pet. Now finish off IAoTH and race down the MM tree, finishing level 59 with Aimed Shot. Ultimately anything will work for leveling, but us nerds love min/maxing and planning our journey to 60. Thanks for leading the charge and keep those videos coming.

    I completely disagree with cat or boar. Carrion bird is awesome. Tanky with screech which can use used as the main focus dump, bite or claw not needed as damage is close and allows more spell resist points to be allocated for more tankiness. Also screech inflicts a fair bit of threat so if you accidentally pull extras, the screech can be used as a lower threat but way more constant threat Version of thunderstomp. Screech has saved my character more times than I can count

    Its my class on classic. Thank you!

  • @curiousfishie
    @curiousfishie 5 років тому +8

    I would like to add that Black Ravager Mastiffs in Duskwood (lvl 25/26) have great starter abilities like Furious Howl and Bite, decent tankers too.
    Boars are easier maintenance for feeding tho, as they'll pretty much eat anything, lol.
    I highly recommend the Scorps which have a poison debuff.
    My primary focus is Markman tho, with secondary focus in Beastmaster, and finally throw in a point each into Humanoid and Beast Slaying from Surv.
    For the surprise aggro pull from your pet, you can set up a freeze trap before starting the encounter. I set up Immolation traps and if I pull then I'll wait for the trap to set off, wing clip the mob, run away and have the pet retake aggro as I will have 3 dots on it with Immo and Serpent (and Scorpion poison when re-applied). That's a bit later down the road tho, still a fun class to play and master.

    I personally like to go 5 in hawk, 2 in health, 3 in armor, 2 in revive speed I skip swiftness and pathfinder because I'm not trying to speed level as soon as possible and aspect of the cheetah already gives me some movement speed increase advantage over all but two other classes. So that doesn't seem to slow me down all that much. And I also do 2 in improved mend pet. I like to keep my keep clean and healthy from curse/disease/magic/poison debuffs so they are 100% for each encounter when I'm chain pull mobs with nasty debuffs. That's how I start my build anyhow.

    The 5 second casting for mana regen rule applies to hunters doesn't it? I always finish with auto shots to get my regen going

  • @thendcomes
    @thendcomes 5 років тому +4

    I'm just happy to see manual growl in there after seeing it on autocast throughout one of your other videos (even in raid!).
    Int over Spirit is questionable at best. You can regen mana in combat as long as you're outside of the 5 second rule so you can game it by frontloading your spells and sticking to your high DPM abilities. Drinking costs you autoshot DPS which offsets or potentially completely negates the DPS gain you made by casting low DPM spells like Arcane Shot. You also can't move while drinking which is arguably an even bigger time waster. Spirit works while moving in between mobs or doing other objectives like looting a quest item.
    If you have time, take a look at the Hunter speedrunners out there like Ahmpy. Their stat priorities are roughly Agility=Spirit until the later levels where Agility>Spirit, and Strength, Intelligence and Stamina hold little to no value.

    Nice one thought I had was that aimed shot could be used alongside growl pretty effectively; will the threat still swing after growl wears off?

    • @UrbanNilssonOssian
      @UrbanNilssonOssian 5 років тому

      Growl just adds a lot of aggro, it isn't a taunt and therefore doesn't wear off.

    I like the idea of using a boar for the lower levels, but it makes starting as a NE worse. You either have to go back to the starting zone to get a level 3 Thistle Boar or do the long walk to either Westfall or Loch Modan (or Durotar I guess, if you're on a pve server)

    • @curiousfishie
      @curiousfishie 5 років тому +2

      There's another way, when you look at the Dun Morogh map itself at the very top are two groves, the second one is the one you want to drown yourself in (at lvl 10) by swimming from Menethil Harbor. As soon as you see a phasing in zone text on the screen and chat notification (you know the local defense crap and maybe trade) then you're in the clear. The graveyard will be Khoronos, res there and go tame that boar or snow leopard or bear, whatever tickles your fancy.

    • @MetaGoblin
      @MetaGoblin  5 років тому +3

      Check out my pet leveling guide dude. You will tame a spider and owl to begin with to unlock some abilities, teach them to a cat then use the cat until loch modan and get a boar.

      @@Ecliptor. they are but technically at 16 as you learn the Screech from Greater Fleshrippers in Westfall and train it to the Owl... Unless there is an owl in Kalimdor with Rank 1 Screech pre 16? (I don't know Kalimdor well)

      @Robertson Thirdly Night elves have higher base agility than dwarves if we are talking about just min/maxing for pve. Also they are taller which is another advantage in some pve situations.
