I moved into a modern apartment and came to find that it had German roaches. The infestation wasn't that bad, but it was still a problem. How I got rid of roaches was this - 1) I throughly cleaned the apartment. 2) at night, I fumigated and bored every room, leaving all cabinets, drawers, dressers open. 3) I ser up baits and roache motels /traps all over the apt. 4) After a week of setting up traps and baits, I combined Boric Acid powder and sugar and sprinkled all over my apt. The sugar attracts the roaches and the boric acid kills them. 5) after two weeks of the boric acid powder and sugar mixture, I meticulously and laboriously sealed all cracks and crevices with caulk - this will keep roaches out.
This process has worked and took about a month. After that month, I saw a roach here and there and were gone in about two months. It's hard to get rid of roaches in apt because you have neighbors and God knows how they live their lives, which can be messy.
This definitely works. My grandpa used these techniques at multiple properties of friends and family homes. Just be careful where you’re tracking the bugs from to prevent them from coming back. You also have to stay consistent.
Hi, love the video. What’s a good alternative to novacide since it’s not for sale in California.
I was told it isn’t safe to apply stuff like that underneath the fridge as it can get inside the coils and motor system and then into where your food is … ?
Where can I fine these products ?
Are any of these solutions Cat safe?
Is there a recommendation for a section 8 apartment complex I have a problem that might be regarding disabled people who are not able to take care of them selves so I will be fighting a on going battle want about roach bombes and how often do I need to take action s thanks a friend of a roach is not a friend of mine
I got rid of roaches in my apartment by just by using those roach motels and covering all holes all around my apartment. To make a long story short. It’s been now 20+ years without seeing a since roach or any other type of insect. For 20+ years I’ve been insect free. I stopped using the roach motels about 7 years ago and still see nothing nowhere. It’s to a point that I don’t keep roach sprays in my apartment anymore cause there’s nothing to kill. I leave food out nowadays on the kitchen table or in the sink and nothing. There’s no insects. For some reason it feels like insects are afraid to come into my apartment seriously nothing comes in my apartment. I haven’t seen a single insect. No roaches, no spiders, no ants, no water bugs, no nothing. Not even a mouse. They key is just to be super clean and cover all open holes.
I live in a loft style apartment with shared vents and holes.. could I do what you did?
What did you use to cover the holes that's where they come from they come from our neighbors the whole damn complex is infested and its so hard to get rid of them but I can cover the wholes or cracks properly the landlord refuses to clean it up and fix the problem all they do is what I could do wich is spray that's it nothing else
What do you cover the holes with?
Some holes cannot be or get covered but ok
@@lylablueabdul5503. Use caulking like the kind you use when painting baseboards around windows etc, You just want to stop them from having access into your home/unit. I say this one because it’s cheap, fast to dry, easy to find and not toxic for the little ones
Good luck everyone

How do I get rid of roaches when pets are involved in an apartment complex
I have a question. We have cats. How safe are your products around pets? We have been invaded by roaches the last couple of months. Lived her 14 years and never had a problem before. I put out traps and thought i had it under control cause i didn't see any more roaches around the house. But yesterday, i got up at 3 am and turned on the light in the kitchen. Roaches were all over the walls and ceiling! It was disgusting!! We are miving soon, how do i make sure that no roaches hitch a ride in our stuff when we mive to our new apartment?
Are the products you mentioned in your video safe to use around pets
Yes, as long as labeled instructions are followed, these products are safe to use around pets.
Where can we purchase these products?
Its is difficult not to have food or water in an apartment
But it's not difficult to keep them from getting to it
You can just put your pantry items in sealable boxes. You can put your canned goods and all the other stuff in clear containers and even put those boxes in the cupboards themselves
I mean... you just clean it up lol
Either way, you don't have to be 100% thorough. Just do a quick sweep at the end of the day if needed, wipe the counters as normal, do your dishes before the day ends, and that is about it.
With doing the basic cleaning things you should be doing every day, just sprinkle boric acid/roach powder in certain places they are likely to walk, and the random ones that come in to look around will eventually die; this has the added benefit of them returning to their 'home' and sometimes having other roaches eat their bodies which has the powder on them or inside them. It is a much slower process than insecticides, but that is why I like to use both. Insecticide that sometimes helps to act as a barrier and kill more quickly, and boric acid in more out of sight areas to make sure they eventually die no matter what even if they don't fully make it on your floor/counters.
Best bet is to prepare before your area's main roach season begins and refresh the powders/baits/insecticides at least once a month for a good 5~ months or so without fail. Not that hard really
We have these german ones in our apartment...basically we cannot starve them out. They eat hair...catdboard....paper. you think yoi get rid of them and then someone dies...or moves out and thr cleaners go in and that night the cockroavhes swarm thr test of the building and the cycle repeats
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🫡
"And maybe invade your neighbor's"
That was sinister even for a help video damn.
I didn’t catch the name of the spray z
Novacide
I have a toilet with water in it. I guess I'm screwed.
Can I use a roach fogger in an apartment?
No I tried it a year ago now luck gonna try this if it doesn’t work we move the hell out anyway
Depends on the landlord and the style of apartment. It needs to not be capable of leaking into your neighbors unit. Will require your door(s) to be fully seal with plastic and tape as well.
Bottom line is that foggers in an apartment are a bit iffy, because where the roaches hide is essentially in walls that are somewhat connected to neighbors, so if your neighbors have a tiny hole somewhere, then roaches not immediately affected enough by a fogger will run wherever they can and might even take residence in your neighbor's area for a bit, then return right back to the wall they left.
It works a whole lot better in a standard home, especially one with a crawl space (which most have). You bomb the house in multiple rooms and you place a few under the home for good measure, and even a fogger than leaves no residue will kill the overwhelming majority of them with minimal sealing required. This in conjunction with normal pesticides and powders/baits outside will mean that even the occasional straggler that survived will eventually die even if they return.
Would be great if it were available in more states. There's a whole list of states where it's restricted
Yea, and in one of the worst roach states in the US, california, they have the most effective things to deal with them banned lol... so annoying
Luckily boric acid/roach powder does the trick pretty well, especially if your neighbors also use it. It is just a slow process as opposed to the stronger pesticides and baits.
I'm autistic and I'm on disability I can afford maybe $20 at best what would be the cheapest way I can get rid of them I'm on Section 8 because they sometimes crawl on my food not all the time but I had it happen once or twice and it is very frustrating I have a friend who has the same problem and what he does he says he eats out because he doesn't want to cook because of the roaches roaches
Roaches my place are more clean but they are annoying the roaches!
Is this safe around crawling infants and children? Most family homes have kids....
I mean, you could just use roach powder/boric acid dusting method, and then heavier amounts in out of sight/reach areas and outside.
But no bait or insecticide is "safe" if a kid eats it. Same with anything though. Pretty much all cleaners you use are going to be toxic to ingest, yet kids aren't dying often from licking the floors after a mop. Infants require supervision anyway, and kids in general should be taught not to be licking random nooks and crannies for the sake of it.
Either way, the surefire way to handle the problem is to keep your home spotless every day (likely takes less than an hour a day if you keep up on it) and spray outside where small children wont be without supervision. That and sealing up obvious holes they are coming in through (most of the time it is obvious and around sink areas, mail slots on a door, or perhaps your front/back door has a gap due to the rubber door seals wearing out too much).
Is this a guarantee work 🤔
If you keep up on it, yea. Also do it every single year just before your typical roach season starts, and keep up on it once a month or so for a good 5 months, and you should be good.
Frankly, all I do now days (and I live in the roach capitol known as california) is buy cheap roach powder/boric acid and sprinkle it outside and inside while keeping my home clean, and that seems to do the trick.
Roaches easily infest, but they are easy to kill and deal with as well.
Are these products pet friendly, I have a cat
This is a bit late but no they aren't
They're technically safe if used correctly however contact with your animals can make them sick. Best to keep pets away until you're sure its dry
I have little ones? Is this safe? 😐
Hi, yes these products are safe to use around children and pets when applied according to label directions. Keep all people and pets off the treated areas until dry, and keep the bait out of the reach of children and pets.
What if you are the landlord?
If your a landlord then it's your responsibility
Then more reason to follow these steps for your tenants. Hopefully you found useful information in our videos. Visit us on our website for more tips.
*The landlord shouldn’t be cheap. Spend the money and pay a pest control company to come out once a month and service the property.*
I wish my landlord would do something … several years of dealing with these nasty things were literally about to move because he won’t do anything to fix the problem and I have a child!! Ridiculous!!!
they take forever to leave. I'm still working with a pest control company to get rid of them
Sadly the "quick fix" method of gas bombing them can't be done in apartments, but the bait, boric acid/roach powder and insecticides should deal with your own person infestations within a month or less. This is assuming you keep your place clean every single day.
Wont stop roaches from a neighboring unit from getting in though. Best bet is to figure out how they get in and seal everything off if that is the issue.
