  • I moved into an apartment that had roaches in Houston, TX. It was a nightmare and I want to share a method to get rid of them, that worked for me.
    Landlords do not care and pest control companies want to the do the bare minimum to control the pest.

    It’s called pest control for a reason. You will never get rid of them completely. They move around from house to house. Everybody has roaches rather they know it or not. They don’t tell you this. Get the syringe and squeeze a pea sized bait everywhere you can think of. Cracks, holes, in cabinets, bathrooms and kitchen. They survived for millions of years. It worked for me.

      If it’s a decent company (they do exist) you can get rid an infestation completely. The problem with German roaches is that they hitchhike on different objects like boxes, luggage, shoes/clothing, ect.. to get to new locations. IT’s especially bad in apartments because neighboring units can be were the original nest are.

      That’s a old school bait recipe that can work if the infestation isn’t too bad. You need to be careful how much boric acid you use in the mix, too little and it ineffective, too much and the roaches can detect it and won’t eat the bait in large quantities

    It’s so unfortunate that people are so embarrassed to admit when they have roaches, because usually the result is that the building does not get adequately treated and the problem persists for years. It can be extremely frustrating for those of us who are actually trying to eliminate the problem.

      Alpine WSG pesticide spray rotated with Transport Micron. These are mixed in a pull sprayer per manufacturer guidelines. These are non repellant sprayed as the repellent ones drive them away when you want to actually kill the roaches. Advion gel bait, Advion cockroach baits. These are pro level products. Your goal is to kill the roaches and also have them take the poison back to their colony. A multiple step approach is needed to get rid of roaches. Another big issue is if there is pet water and food out, cardboard boxes and clutter. The main activity areas are usually the kitchen around the island, refrigerator and other appliance as well as bathrooms. When you move into a new places always treat it for roaches and other insects, etc along with bed bugs. Have a monthly regimen and assume always there are pests in the house. Using proactive measures is the key to control and preventing an infestation. If you have any questions please ask I’ll be happy to assist you! I’ve been in the pest control trip business for 20 years.

    My husband and i just moved into a townhouse. Our patio is plit in the middle and shared with a neighbor. We are 30 days into our 13 month lease. We have 6 kiddos and three of them have asthma. We began to notice roaches and i mean really bad. I bought things to spray and that took care of them for the most part. The inside of our home was getting better. One night i was about to leave to get my husband from work and i noticed roaches through my back patio door and they are all over the patio. It is so traumatic. We finally noticed the source is our neighbor. They live so nasty roaches are all in there home and windows. I feel helpless. My husband works nights and that's when they come out back through the patio. Maintenance came to seal the door but nothing is really working. We literally duck taped our back door shut i can't even enjoy my patio. I'm in tears writing this because seems pest control it's not helping. They want to fogg our place but my kids have asthma idk what to do. We have a while to be here. Any advice????

      I'm sorry to hear that. My father has asthma so I know how difficult and delicate this medical condition can be.
      Talk to a doctor and find out if fogging the unit would affect your child's asthma. My father's asthma is triggered by emotions, not dust or cold weather. I found that hard to believe but that's the case, his doctor told us that.
      The only other solution is to break out of the lease. Read your contract to find out the requirements, it is unfortunately an expensive option though. Good luck!

I also have raid ( the water based and fragrance free one) and a fly swatter from the dollar store for the ones I can see running around. I also dropped a teaspoon dollop of cheap plain peanut butter in the center of the trap for good measure. Total cost $12. Roaches love to live inside the dry wall behind outlets so set the sticky boards near them.

      I am not a medical professional nor a pest control expert. Therefore, you should consult your doctor and a professional pest control company for accurate advice. All I can tell you is my experience... At the time I had a 4 and a 7 year old plus a small dog and my wife. We never noticed any sort of residue from the fogging. And like I said in the video, the pest control company did the bare minimum until I told them that I wanted something stronger. That's when I was told about the fogging by the apartment management. I personally was more worried about powders, gels, and sprays than the invisible residue of the fogging. Besides, the fogging is what kept the roaches away. I don't believe that they were killed, but it sure kept them away. Good luck!

      I've lived in my condo for 9 years. Black dude on the left, black family on the right, then Asian family on the right. All presumably American, at least first generation. When they sold the black dude's condo (on the left), a slumlord bought it. He housed five grown adult males (Mexican that didn't speak English if that's relevant, I don't know)... Well ever since they moved out... Which they moved out for not paying rent and driving drunk, etc. (HOAs have rules) We have seen three roaches in our condo. Another Mexican, english speaking family moved in like last month... I'm guessing they moved out since the place was infested with roaches... Idk, the guy had a job, so I don't believe he's like, a big m or a refugee or anything. Well they moved in ANOTHER family... Like six of them. African family. They arrived with all donations. I assume they are refugees. But anyway, they don't have money to treat that dirty condo. And as long as they don't treat it, we will never get rid of them! The rent is $1,700 for a two bedroom. Not cheap by any means.
      Anyway, the answer to your question would be people that clearly don't mind bugs and slumlords who move 50 people every other month in a two bedroom in the suburbs and fail to treat the apartment. That's how we get roaches.

    Just moved out of my first apartment to a townhome. And had to get rid of a lot of my things.. just because I didn’t want to risk it. It really is traumatic because I lived with them for atleast a year when I was like 12 y/o then they come back all these years later.

    • @ErikMier.

      I agree that it can be a traumatic experience. It took me months for me to stop looking at any little brown spot and not hiking that it was a roach. I'm glad you made it out. It was a smart move to let go of some of your things to avoid contamination of your new place.

      @ErikMier.  9 місяців тому +1

      I understand how you may be feeling. Try fogging your unit and caulking the cracks, but keep in mind that roaches like to go through the electric outlets as well. I would recommend using baby plugs for the outlets that you don't use.
      Fogging your unit won't solve your your problem forever, but it gave me periods of six months where I barely saw them.

    Fogging is the WORST THING TO DO!!!! Especially if u are in an apt building!!! it does not kill them, but makes them scatter to other areas, and then, yes, they come right back. You must have the bait that they take back to the nest & buddies!!! PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW HIS ADVICE!

    • @ErikMier.
      @ErikMier.  Рік тому +6

      I appreciate your comment Crawley.
      It's difficult to kill all the roaches that live in a 16 unit complex when you are the only one poisoning them. Therefore, I found Fogging to be the best option. Fogging kept them away from my unit until my lease was up.
      Some tenants are disgusting and they won't help you fight the roaches.

    I am perpetually breaking even paying bills and moving but not really because life is the one bank account you can only withdraw from.

    I am sick of starving to save just to reach in and clear the saving out every two weeks and work as a slave with 0 money earned.
    I know my teeth don’t have much longer and then interviews will be very uphill trying to explain why I neglected my health to pay all the bills.
