    Can it be used for shoulder surgery with sling? , also just use the tub faucet for wetting sponge?

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  2 роки тому

      Katie, good question. If you are currently restricted from showering due to shoulder surgery and are sponge bathing, if your toilet is close to the sink, we would recommend sitting there or if needed using a chair for now for ease. If you are able to shower or want to bath more thoroughly, yes you can use this transfer bench. We would recommend the addition of a hand held shower as well for improved safety. Hope this was helpful.
      Take care and speedy recovery!

    PT said he wanted me to use a bath bench. Not sure he heard me when I said I don't do showers, that I want something to help with bath, not shower. Already have handheld shower. This was helpful to show me what he was telling me he wanted.

    Does the height difference have to be set higher on the inside legs?

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  5 років тому +2

      Olive McC thank you for your question. Typically the legs on the inside of the tub will need to be set at a shorter height than the outside legs. The main thing to make sure of is to have the seat level no matter what height adjustments you make to the legs. Each leg can at times be at different adjustments depending on how level the floor is and the shape of the back of the tub. Hope this helps. ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  5 років тому +1

      Robin Spencer thank you for your comment. You may want to try a tub rail like the links that we have here. The thing you have to look at is available space. This would have to clamp on the tub on the back side of the bench, opposite to where your legs will come into the tub. Please take a look at both links because the bars run different directions. Of course we always suggest seeking advise from a local OT or PT for specific concerns. Hope this is helpful.

    I can't seem to be able to remove the handles

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  4 роки тому

      Bono Bono, if you are speaking of a tub transfer bench, not all of these handles are removable. If the handle is removable, there should typically be some push pins near where the handle connects to the seat, which when pushed in should release it. The push pins typically look like what’s in the legs of a walker to adjust the height. It’s difficult to say, of course, without actually seeing it. Hope this helps!! ✌🏻❤️AECorner

    I have a bit of a problem with this video. When I upgraded from a four-wheeled walker to a wheelchair at the beginning of 2018 (I have secondary progressive multiple sclerosis), both occupational therapy and my physical therapist went to a great deal of trouble to teach me that the safest way to transfer between a wheelchair and almost any other seat is a side-to-side transfer. Using that approach, the user is shifting between the two with something to sit down on when my legs, arms, or equilibrium should fail in mid-move. Trying 90-degree and 180-degree turns has put me in the ER twice this year before I learned side-to-side.
    I strongly suggest you include a side-to-side segment for wheelchair users, including an explanation that it is the preferable and far safer transfer method.
    Personally, I'm tired of hittig my head on the tub or the tiles when I fall. My landlortd charges a ton when I hit them with my head and they have to be repaired.

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  6 років тому +1

      Thank you for your comment. Yes, there are others ways to transfer depending on one’s level of mobility. It sounds as though you are using a sliding board. Great suggestion, we will consider making a series of sliding board videos for transfers to/from various surfaces. ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

    hi i just had hip replacement surgery and iv got on loan one of these transfer bench im about 80-90kg in weight my partner set it up but when i went to sit on the end to test it out the other end lifted up also it doesnt feel to sturdy is there any advice you could give me please?

    • @AECorner
      @AECorner  6 років тому

      It’s hard to accurately say without seeing the bench. Make sure that the bench seat is level. This means that the legs inside the tub will be shorter than the legs on the outside of the tub depending on the depth of your tub. Also, make sure the legs on the outside of the tub are firmly resting on the floor and that the frame of the bench isn’t teetering on the side of the tub. Do you have a tall tub? You should be able to back up to the bench and sit down without feeling like you’re going to tip over. Is it an older bench? If so, make sure all the parts are in proper working condition and have been connected correctly. If none of this helps send it back to the place you borrowed it from and get a different one. - AECorner

    • @fordgirl8821
      @fordgirl8821 6 років тому

      i think our tub is average height and where i loaned it from is through the occupational therapy department at one of our hospitals so i would like to think that everything from them is tested and is in working condition it does seem ok and the legs adjust fine i dont really know the age of it but it looks similar to yours but its a white one and looks wider

    Cindy, I dissagree.
    1st. The shower wand should be long & flexible (metal).
    2nd. The showerhead holder should be located near the water valves. I'm saying this from experience.
    A fidget hose is hard to handle and getting up when wet and soapy is dangerous.
    If you agree let us know. Thanks

      Rocky, thank you for your comment. Everyone’s situation and ability to obtain equipment varies. This type of shower head is one inexpensive option that I give my clients, having their caregiver assist or positioning the shower head down where it can be easily accessed by the individuals using it. There are many different options and individual circumstances; therefore we always recommend consultation with a local PT or OT. ✌🏻 ❤️ AECorner.com
