    my scooter's front shocks are frozen (too afraid to say "rusted") solid. when i bought it it was already out of oil. the local scooter guy doesnt really want to fuck with them and says im better off buying a new scooter (he has a point, it's a 2005 Filly but i like the little bugger) and there are also no suitable spares at the junkyard. as in no working shocks for a 2005 scooter that are in good condition. so i guess i'm on collision course of doing this.
    neighbor borrowed me his allen key set. i've watched videos. Guess i'll go get a fork set to service at the junkyard.
    and then it's rock and roll time.
    *btw the real pro tip in this videos is oil level adjustement! thank you Paul!*

      Thanks for watching! I'm glad the video helped. If your forks are siezed, I recommend trying to find new forks. www.partsforscooters.com/All-Scooter-Parts/All-Parts-Suspension/Fork-Assy?page=1
      Check some online scooter parts stores, and make sure the new fork matches your old one.

    My forks are little different , I don’t need to go in with a extension and hex to undo anything that way , just simple lefty loosy of the ex bolt at the Botom of the fork and that’s it everything internally comes undone

    Hi Paul,
    At 6:07, is the oil level 1 cm from the top of the inner tube (fully compressed) or Outer tube?
    Thanks!

    Er. How Often should you Check the front fork nut for spec tightness if you never used Loctite? Ya know.. Everyone says when you get a new China scooter to check the bolts but there are Tons of bolts and we don't always have factory specs to match the torque against.. so.. what's the best practice? How do you know which bolts you need to check and how tight they are.. no one publishes that info.

      Ok, so you ride the scooter, then feel out which part of it is currently falling apart. Glue it together. Make sure you always wear a helmet. From a Chinese scooter manual: "you will have a fun and interesting time"

      @@LabCoatPaul Ahh.. that's what I was missing.. O.k... I'll follow your advice.. I see it worked for you when you took your scooter off road.. (folks should really watch that vid.. it's a Hoot!) Thanks Paul! LOL and thanks for having a sense of Yuma.. Ah Ha.. I dated a gal from Yuma once.. nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there..

    My forks on my scooter doesn’t have a top cap to screw off. Instead it only have bottom bolts in which I unscrewed for draining and refill. Question is… how do I Continue to tighten the bottom bolts? As I try to tighten it up it turns with the spring inside instead. I was thinking… perhaps I need something fast like an air gun?

    • @LabCoatPaul

      No top cap would make it tricky. I would use a drill or an electric impact. Be careful if you use an air impact wrench because you can easily overtighten the bolts.

    Did you clean the fork with the wire brush? I can see scratch marks when you installed the new seal.

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  2 роки тому +1

      nope. The only thing I touched with the wire brush was that bolt.

      150cc Chinese scooters can be pretty fast if tuned properly. I was going about 20mph on a slight downhill and hit a small jump in the picture.

      @@LabCoatPaul a scooters engine is only attached by a bar and the strings have you considered adding two more engines left and right of the scooter? wont go any faster but get to 60mph faster. and if a engine dies you can still drive it but maybe with the extra power you can maybe add a trailer hitch for a small motorcycle trailer.

    awsome video, my bike got crashed and now the wheel isnt pointing straight, how do i fix this? is it a fork bearing issue?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  2 роки тому +1

      Chinese scooters have a bolt that goes through the steerer tube to hold the handlebars. Take off the plastic trim. If the bolt is bent, replace it. Stand in front of the scooter, hold the wheel between your legs, and turn the handlebars to re-align them.

      Unless you consider they get like 80 plus miles to the Gallon, the parts are dirt cheap and they are off the radar for thieves.. not too shabby.
