    Offroad lights typically dazzle oncoming traffic. Consider a driving light with the proper beam pattern and cutoff.

      Unfortunately even factory lights have gotten ridiculously bright. If you're stuck with an old car these are actually a good way to fight back through the other drivers LED lights. I have one on the back of my truck I'll turn on if someone's following me with their brights on 😆

    for future readers and viewers, those white/yellow wires coming from the gy6 139/152/157 stator are unregulated AC and require bulbs to dampen voltage and current. without bulbs AC voltage will go out of control and everything will burn out, so you need a resistor and choke to clamp that down.
    don't ask me how i know.

    You can use steel wool to remove that surface rust from chrome surfaces, it works really well.

    Your highbeam light I use on my scooter same way. OEM bulb on replaceable in fixture only high beam worked, so I pointed it down and added the little light works well, love when cars flash their brights at me and I switch to the LED then they didn't mind the fluorescent too much .
    What you use as the low beam I use on my truck for work, works well to see more than 180° on each side or to blind other drivers who can't seem to turn off their brights
    I see you did not use a resistor on the scooter nor did I 👍🏽. Good video bro I'm gonna have to go back and watch some of that in detail to understand the wiring to help me set up my Yamaha Zuma bugeye turn signal LEDs

    About this time last year, I bought a new LED headlight bulb from Amazon, it's much brighter than my original headlight , I paid more and got only one bulb, it is wired correctly, I think you could have gotten a better lamp if you wanted too , you deliverably picked the cheapest selection , I suspect you did this as a "lesson by example" so viewers would not make this mistake

      This one was a weird bulb size, so I didn't have any good quality options on Amazon.

    You could put that unused 12 volts ac into a voltage regulator and power a usb charging outlet for charging phones and other accessories without and extra drain on the battery, WOW 😳

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  Рік тому

      Not true. The 8-pole stator puts out very little current. It doesn't matter if you take it from the A/C or the D/C wires, you're still limited to about 3 amps total for the charging system.
      I recommend upgrading to an 11 pole stator if you want to install additional accessories.

    functional, but I would probably keep the original lamp housing and modify it to accept an LED-panel or something...

    Re: broken plastic screw receiving holes.
    I wonder if bondo would stick and could be appropriately drilled to receive screws ?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  6 місяців тому

      Bondo is designed to work with metal. Epoxy would work better with plastic, but the body fairings on Chinese scooters get brittle after a few years, so I just tape mine back together.

    If the brown wire is ac current, can you just eliminate it all together to just run off the switched DC power from the black wire? Or why did you connect it with the black and white wires?

    I know you saw my video review on the Nilight Nixmen for the Ba20d style bulb. I wonder if it helped you choose the Nilight brand for this project. I agree, the model you used is horrible for brightness and the difference between the high and low beams. As you see from my video I had a much different experience where my Nilight Nixmen worked awesome for both brightness and difference between high/low. My one LED cost 25 dollars. Your 2 for 16 seems really cheap. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the brand.. perhaps you got a knock off? It seems strange you and I had such different experiences. I see your individual High and Low LED's are still Nilight brand and work well. Perhaps it's just that that particular model was off, not designed correctly?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  2 роки тому +1

      I should have ordered the same light you got. When I did a search for the P15D bulb, all I found was that junky one. Nilight is a pretty good brand. I bought some Nilight off road lights a few years ago, and they worked ok and didn't break, so that's why I got their off road lights again. Perhaps if I searched a bit more, I could have found an LED bulb that works well.

    • @DivergentDroid
      @DivergentDroid 2 роки тому

      @@LabCoatPaul I'm thinking even if you got the bulb I got it wouldn't fit your P15D socket. I know you had to find one that's claimed to match the socket/bulb style you have as I did for the Ba20d style my scooter came with. The error is clearly not your fault. I think they just really messed up on the P15D bulb. Perhaps it's a leftover from the earlier attempts at designing an LED bulb.

    Hi Paul, love your videos, however I think that your videos arent being promoted as much anymore, as I never see them in my recommended when you upload. Anyway, would you consider putting a nudge,bullbar on your rav4?
    Thanks.

      I guess youtube isn't doing me any favors. If you hit the notification bell next to the subscribe button, it will tell you any time I have a new video.
      I haven't gotten to installing any accessories yet because I'm still working through all the repairs the RAV4 needs. At some point, a bull bar or a bumper would be cool, as well as a skid plate and rock sliders.

    Won’t the led have a low lifespan without a regulated power supply?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  2 роки тому

      The LED lights have a built - in voltage regulator, so theoretically they will last a very long time.

  • @jeffkrauss5582

    I want to add an ac to dc converter at the light switch so all my lights can be dc .so if i hooked acdc converter to the brown wire on the light control that should put evrything to dc from control right?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  Рік тому +1

      You don't need an AC to DC converter (also called a rectifier). The voltage regulator already has a rectifier built in, and you just need to connect to the wire that already has DC power. (just like I did in the video)
      The 8 - pole stator doesn't put out much current, and adding a rectifier to the A/C wires won't give you more total power. If you want more power, upgrade to an 11-pole stator.
