  • In this review I discuss the pros and cons of the Derminator 2 microneedling device as compared to the Dr. Pen. I received the Derminator 2 from Vaughter Wellness as a gift, but the opinions in this review are my own. I used a sterile hyaluronic acid and peptide serum from Dermaheal.
    If you are interested in purchasing the Derminator 2, you can do so here:
    owndoc.shop/De...
    Here is a link to information about the hyaluronic acid serum I used from Dermaheal:

    I receive no compensation for posting this review or link. I am not an affiliate of Vaughter Wellness or Dermaheal.
    **Warning** there is some minor bleeding in this video.

    Great review, thank you! You used a perfect circling technique.
    Just some remarks:
    - It is not required to keep the machine turned off before you start needling to prevent the magnet from flying out, it's actually only required to power-cycle the machine when you change the number of needles, because the machine asks how many needles are in the cartridge when it's turned on only. The machine needs to know what cartridge is mounted in order for proper depth- and timer function, since the timer is not really a timer but an expert that knows how many pricks/inch or cm are required for the chosen speed and surface area and it will needle until that prick density is achieved, based on the current (also when you change it) needling speed, the number of needles in the cartridge and the skin area you programmed it with.
    - Indeed, when you start needling but there is no cartridge present, the magnet flies out with surprising speed and you may lose it - it's BLACK nowadays (Teflon coating) and made by the same company that makes the magnets for the motors in Tesla cars.
    - The motor is not in the console unit but the entire hand unit is one huge motor. The console unit contains a medical-rated power supply and a computer mainboard. The hand unit is heavy-ish because it consists of a large copper coil around the strongest magnet that can be produced, which is required so that it has so much power that it can move the needles very rapidly in and out of the skin (short duty-cycle and therefore strong g-forces required), which avoids not only most pain but especially the microtearing all the other other machines suffer from. The powerful motor also makes the device noisier than those Chinese "buzzers" (all other machines are Chinese repurposed permanent makeup pens and not safe or effective dermaneedling devices.)
    Those "buzzers" work more like little sewing machines and have such little power that the ones with the weakest motors don't need more power than comes from a small rechargeable battery. Our machine's console unit contains a very powerful, medical-rated power supply so the entire machine basically is a big motor/power supply with a tiny computer + magnetic field sensor (for accurate depth control).

    omg thank you so much - this is the exact video I was fishing around for! I've been sold on the science and professional quality of the Derminator for a while and I'm just about to order so of course getting nervous and going in and double checking. The problem is that DR Pen and all of those guys are paying so many UA-camrs so you can't get anyone to give an honest comparison/review. They're all on the payroll lol! Hey they other thing about your neck - that Turkey thing is actually muscles that are slacking - platysmal bands - so you won't affect them with microneedling. Try a machine with microcurrent - Myolift seems to be a decent grade one for at home use. Microcurrent helps to retrain muscles to either relax (forehead wrinkles and the 11s) or to contract, like those lazy platysmal bands and other neck and jawline muscles.

    • @CollagenLab
      @CollagenLab  3 роки тому +7

      I am very curious about the Myolift and have considered purchasing. I just don’t know if I will use it as frequently as is necessary… that’s always the issue with these devices - you have to ask yourself “will I actually use this enough to make a difference?” That’s why I love microneedling - big payoff for minimal time

    Thank you for the tutorial. I want to purchase this device but I'm still wondering about a few things you mention in your comment replies below. I would be very thankful for the information as the more I read in the comments below, the more unsure I became about a few things. What is this barrier cream you refer to? What is it for, what kind do you recommend, and when do you use it? The serum you apply in the video has a retail price of $2,800 or a discount price of $1,700. YIKES! The alternative you mention uses human stem cells/growth factors from bone marrow... not so sure about that. Is there an alternative you could recommend in a better price range that would be safe for the deeper depths(1.5), and doesn't originate from human bone marrow? Also, the Eunyul Daily Care Face Mist you use in the video comes in three different types(collagen, aloe, or hyaluronic). Which one are you using? Last question... you mention a few times below that you sometimes use PRP/PRF when doing this treatment. Are you actually having your blood drawn, then spun to produce PRP or PRF and then somehow using that during your treatment? Could you please explain a little more about that? Thank you so much.

    How many times would you use a cartridge before you replace it? Also, why wouldn’t you always use the highest needle count cartridge to get done faster, are there pro’s and cons for using different needle counts?

    • @CollagenLab
      @CollagenLab  3 роки тому +19

      If I’m using PRF I always discard the needle cartridge after one use. You could probably reuse a cartridge after proper sterilization (soak in alcohol for at least 10 mins after use, spray with alcohol before use) about 3-4 times. The reason I prefer a cartridge with a lower needle count is you actually get better penetration with fewer needles. When you have more needles close together it’s like a bed of nails - the force is distributed evenly across your skin preventing the needles from penetrating. I’ve experienced scratching from cartridges with higher needle counts. Hope this helps!

      If you’re using PRF or PRP, I leave it on for a few hours. If you’re just microneedling with a serum, just use water to wash your face for the first 24 hours. I wouldn’t use alcohol - you want to minimize the amount of dehydration. Try to use a hyaluronic acid and a barrier cream for the first 3 days.

    • @CollagenLab
      @CollagenLab  3 роки тому +1

      disposable kitchen gloves are fine, that's what I use. If you have a tendency to develop keloid scars, I would not use the Derminator. Otherwise, I think it's safe for most people to use, within limits. It is very powerful, most people should not go above 0.5 mm until their skin thickens and can tolerate deeper treatments. In most situations and for inexperienced users, 0.5 mm should be sufficient.

      Technically you should only use it once. If you sterilize the cartridge (boiling water, followed by alcohol), you can probably get two uses

    • @CollagenLab
      @CollagenLab  3 роки тому +1

      I use the colour of my skin as a guide. I like to make sure all areas are pink, but not red or raw. If you use numbing cream you need to be more careful since you may not have much sensation to tell if you should stop. Always best to err on the side of caution.

    • @CollagenLab

      Nano needling does not penetrate the skin at all. Using pressure, the cartridge (no needles) pushes your topical products deeper into the stratum corneum, but no deeper.

    Dr.pen is junk. I had 2 Dr.pen M8 devices that both broke. The first lasted a year, so was past the warranty period. The 2nd one only lasted 6 months. But, to use the warranty I either had to pay $45 for a replacement or ship the broken device to China for repair, which is about the same price. So, the Warranty is not that good. At least that's how it was from where I bought it. Every seller will be different. The warranty isn't from the manufacturer. So, I got a Derminator2 now.
