As a detailer for over 7 years...I was about to say the same thing enzyme don't do the trick not bashing anyone.... and again steam breaks it down you can use a microfiber to mop up sometimes after drys the stains show up. And it's depending on the fabric extraction sometimes is the best way because the area needs to be deeply rinse....just my 2cents in have a good day people

Great tips! How would you attack carpet without an extractor? It’s said APC sit deep in the fibers and because it can stay damp longer, it can attract more dirt and make carpet look worse faster. What’s a good way to shampoo by hand or should you just focus on spotting areas of stains to extract?

    • @Brian-dj3ru

In order to understand what’s happening with carpets an upholstery it would be wise to understand the ph balance or scale and how alkaline ur APC solution is. If to too strong and you leave that on ur carpet or upholstery without naturalizing it’s it will re-stain faster and more of a probability of “wicking”. What Joel is doing is hitting it hard with an enzyme and bringing back down to earth with the carpet bomber product. In the PS line their is a third and final product to really finish it out. Also research Flex Fire and Flex ICE another one two punch for carpets and upholstery.

Is it recommended to steam clean the interior as part of a weekly maintenance wash regimen? I ask because I’ve read excessive steam cleaning can delaminate surfaces and have noticed it’ll make some black plastic cloudy/white at times. Would it just be a matter of keeping proper distance from the material and keeping it moving so as not to overheat it? Also, any techniques for getting rid of white spots on black plastic or leather caused by steaming?

You answered your question partly. Make sure to keep distance and move rather quickly. Also, I wouldn’t clean any areas if they aren’t dirty. Over cleaning an area will cause ware. If it’s a small spot of dirt on the door there’s no reason to apply so much cleaner. Spray once or twice then go over it with a microfiber. A lot of people like to brush and wipe areas that are spotless and that is one of the reasons vinyl and leather surfaces get worn out. For maintenance I would blow out the whole interior with a Tornador tool (definitely look into it), spot clean any areas that are actually dirty, use a soft microfiber for dusting, clean the windows, vacuum, and that’s it. If there are stains treat those at the end.
