My favorite part is: Unlike many reviewers, you two keep us entertained all through your video without trying hard to be funny or anything. Also your shots of cars in motion has a unique beauty!
Great review!, I own a 2025 GV80 and I love it! just a comment about the inside wood trim you showed, I learned about how is made when I was researching the car, and it is a recycle fine furniture wood compressed with recycled newspapers to create that pattern. That's not only very cool, but also environmentally friendly, so I'm all for it. There is another brown mate wood one (the normal and boring one), and a third one is from the same recycle wood with basalt stone that’s been melted, processed into a yarn, and woven into a crosshatch pattern. Bottom like, very cool and worthy of the price of the vehicle specially for the innovation of it. Thank you!!
My favourite part of your reviews is how much fun you too have. Your videos show best friends hanging out and shooting the shit about cars, which I loved doing with my friends back in college.
My fav part of your reviews is the fact that you guys review cars in a very real way - no car journalist bs, no brand preferential treatment, and you get a really good idea of what it is actually like to own and drive these cars. I think one way you guys could stand out even further is to partner up with a mechanic and have a reliability section - I know for the cutting edge stuff that’s hard, but it would be a great value add for buyers to get a good idea of any common issues, etc. Anyways keep it up guys, you are blowing the others out the water with your cinematography and general quality, and your personalities are just so great. My fav car review channel by far!
The best part of your channel is the relationship between Yuri and Jakob. It always looks like you’re having fun and hanging out with your best friend. If that ever starts to change take a break and regroup. Because it’s what makes your videos so charming - for lack of a better word - and different than other channels. Your relationship is genuine, not something scripted for the video.
I'll never own one because I can't afford it... But I'm sooooo sad they discontinued the deep royal green. They looked sooooo classy in that bently-esque green.
Genesis is fuckin KILLING IT! Hyundai-Genesis/Kia as a whole are doing amazing work. The fact that Genesis is still a toddler, they came in on a mission and have been grinding gracefully all the way to the TOP. To being a serious competitor for not only the Holy German Trinity but everyone from Acura all the way to Volvo. Genesis has officially replaced Infiniti as my #1 car brand. Sidenote: I'm Jacob & I'm Yuri is iconic!!! Outside of that, you guys are really into what you do and not just doing it for 💰.. You're so genuine and unbiased consistently... Love the intentional and unintentional humor too. Keep up the great work!!
Honestly, the fact that it's a Genesis would make me want to buy it more than BMW or mercedes. In one of those brands, you will see yourself coming and going a million times a day. The Genesis does everything those does with maybe a slightly lesser drive train, but I think it looks miles better then the equivalent BMW and it isn't quite as boring as the Mercedes. The Mercedes get spicy when you go up into the AMG trims, but at that point, you're spending crazy money. This gets you really good luxury, and quasi Bentley looks for relative bargain. This would absolutely be my choice if I was shopping in this range.
I am a Hyundai/Genesis fanboy. I own a GV70, and I absolutely love it. However, Genesis' downfall continues to the dealership experience. I bought mine from a Michigan dealer and have had the car serviced at several dealers. I consistently ran into issues with loaners neve being available, and software updates never being able to be performed. They charge you $100 just to update the firmware of the infotainment, which is absolutely insane to think about. My military assignment recently took me to Germany, I had my car shipped, too. When it arrived, the engine light was on because the turbo had failed. I had to jump through so many hoops to make it happen, but I was able to get the turbo replaced for free by a German dealer. The biggest Hassel with this, however, was the fact that Germany only has 5 active Genesis exclusive dealerships. Genesis would not allow the car to be repaired under warranty at a Hyundai dealer. The soonest appointment I could get was a month out. I was able to get the car fixed under warranty, thank God, but still a wild inconvenience to deal with, especially with my car being as new as it is. Genesis of Europe definately still has some work to do in order to better establish a footprint too, it's only been in Europe for nearly 3 years, and is trying to compete with BMW and Mercedes who dominate the region. Trying to get Germans to abandon their brand for a Korean competitor is similar to what Toyota struggled with when they came to America.
Thank you for the insight, I am also holding off from buying a genesis due to maintenance concern as compared to Lexus, they are more widely available at least in my country. However, I did not expect Genesis to be that difficult to maintenance so this is eye opening.
Honestly, with how well Genesis is executing their cars, buying a used one for cheap is a really good idea. If you need a 3 row to luxury SUV, an old GV80 is starting to make more and more sense, and if you need a sedan, wait for the new G80 to get an older one.
My mom bought a 2021 G80 a few months ago. People keep thinking it's an $80k car because of the comfort and overall quality. Lol, it was only 45k dollars and still has 70k miles worth of warranty.
The best part is the chemistry and banter between the two of you, and how you’re not afraid to make fun of some of the stuff manufacturers put into the cars. That and Jacub is such a DILF.
My favorite part about your car reviews are you two are entertaining and look/review cars from a buyers perspective. It’s not focusing on performance you all focus on livability. I appreciate that as a buyer and enthusiast!
I like how your review of the car is relatable and I feel like you talk about stuff that you will notice everyday when you drive a car and its just the impression of two buddies having fun checking out a new car.
What i love about you two are just a bunch of college bros doing a car review, its in depth but also chill. If you dont like something you say it and it is what it is. Keep it up!
What I enjoy most: first the high production value and the main focus is still all about the car. Second both your personality are very exciting and gets me excited about the cars. Fun and entertaining to watch!
Hello from Australia. The reason I like your reviews is that you cover the stuff I care about, wheels, exhausted sound, horse powers and torques. I suggest adding an sound system review.
My favorite thing about your channel is that it feels like I’m just going on a ride with the homies 😄 It’s like you guys are just having a conversation between friends & it’s so much more fun than feeling all corporaty & stiff. Love your vids!
You bring to us the feel of the actual car experience with your nitpicking and wish we had this or that in the car. How you quickly compare certain car aspect to other brands in the market. Fascinating to watch.
To be honest...your intro's my favourite part 😅 Intros matter and alot of channels don't get that part. It's what "hooks" the viewer..or sends him away. Plus, you guys are genuine, funny and just plain good ol'Canadians!
Thing I like about your reviews is the horsepower and torque launches at the start. Never leaves me hanging wondering right off the bat, give me the goods 👍🏻
Okay guys, I've said it before, but the best part of your videos is your friendship and the way you interact with each other. You cover all the basics when it comes to your car reviews and you are consistent with your content, but it wouldn't matter if you two were not so likable. You don't often agree or see things the same way, but I think that is both authentic and genuine. Consumers need to know what is good and BAD about cars, and you have to stay committed to telling it like it is without compromise. Stay true to yourselves, your mission and your obligations to inform the general public about the products you profile and hopefully you'll get to 2 million subs soon.
The best part of the channel is the fact that you are normal guys. You know enough to talk numbers but also realize that the vast majority of us don't care about a 5% difference in steering weight. You balance each other well with each part of the cars you focus on. You all have great energy!
I love the friendship and you two both seem down to earth guys that would be fit right into my friend group. I enjoy how you guys each notice and care about different things of the cars and have different opinions of certain things.I also like how laid back you two are, the joking with each other and the reviews and videos seem 100% honest and not prewritten or scripted.
The general structure of the videos is what keeps me coming back. You two are great together, but in general, it is the consistency of what you put out from a content perspective. You guys cover all the bases and still keep it feeling fresh and relatively unscripted - Looks, Comparison to competition, performance, cliche corner as a whole, "listen to it from the outside/HP and Tqqqq/Let's get to the price" all add sitcom-style familiarity to review installments to a point that I find myself watching every one despite having zero interest in purchasing the car. Keep it up! Been a follower for a while. About to lease an Ioniq 5 via truecar after binging your reviews as well.
I watch you guys over other reviews because of your thoroughness and you both give different perspectives. And it seems like you’re having fun in the car. Which is why I’d buy a car.
I really like that you are straight to the point and very natural. I don’t like reviewers with overly complicated scripted dialogue or cringe inducing intros. Or documentary style cinematography. You are not trying to copy Top Gear, which is refreshing to me.
Fav part about channel, your reviews feel more real world Than just numbers and specs, like you bring things people end up finding out about after owning the car (like for example when presets are not allowed to he saved while driving)
lol used to have a blackberry with the scroll wheel. Just showed my age and I really hope they have doctor evil as the Spokes person, that would be perfect! 👍🏽 also favorite part of the reviews is y’all’s chemistry and friendship. I have friends like you two so it feels real genuine. Y’all keep it up! Much love from Texas boys.
My favorite things about this channel is the honesty and not just any honesty it’s the honesty about if the cars you guys review are worth it for the price based on its class and price point, down to the ride, interior and exterior quality and features/functions. You guys don’t lie to kiss the manufacturers ass you guys are legit car reviewers get straight to the point and no bullshit.
The wheels look like a modern day version of the classic Torque Thrust wheel. When talking about the third row climate, it would have been funny if Jacob kept saying "Or a dog" several more times just to fuck with Yuri.
@@itsreallyjakub Kind of like how when you solo reviewed the newest Lexus IS500 and just could _not_ stop mentioning that you used to have an ISF, except hopefully now you know that the "repetitive/persistent gag" stops being funny after the 5th time in less than 4 minutes.
Absolutely love that you used that "song" for the intro. Thought it was an interesting song when I heard it in the intro and then burst out laughing to the callback later on!! 😂😂
If you guys start reminding people to hit the thumbs up I bet it works great. I almost never remember to, but liked this as soon as you said it. You guys are NOT money-grabbers, and I don't think it would look bad to remind us. Keep up the good work! 😊
We have 7500 miles on our 25 GV80. We love it. Super quiet and luxurious ride. Very powerful, silky smooth acceleration. Only issue has been a dead battery on two occasions. Very perplexing. Otherwise, it’s the best car we’ve ever owned.
Honestly, my favorite thing is the bickering. Not only because it's funny but because you both having different and obvious opinions, helps me get an actual barometer on what the car is like and what I would feel about it. It's like you have two solid points of reference to triangulate from. But also its entertaining to see you disagree.
The Straight Pipes is kind of like the show Supernatural, there's a good new flavor of the week but a super strong template to fall back on. We need to know the Visor Test™ results just like we waited to see if the bad guys die or not. The two of you cover a wider physical and perspective spectrum too, seeing how both of you interface with the ergonomics and driving dynamics gives a pretty good idea for practical and enthusiast POVs. How someone like me would fit in between Yuri and Jakub's height is a great demonstration too. The Car Play and Android Auto showdown before was great too, same with the courtroom comparisons.
Your car reviews are mad chill and i watch to get the sense of what to realistically expect from the car. If its amazing its amazing if its ass its ass, no more no less
First thing that came to mind. Hot liquid magma. Muahahahaha What I like about TSP? You guys are genuine, down to earth and are funny without trying too hard.
My favorite part is the box test … oh wait 😅 My favorite part is how you guys do cars that us plebs might actually buy, and your humor is more organic and less forced, unlike the channel that rhymes with Rotten Mouse. And your dynamic is great, instead of just listening to one person with all their “quirks and features” (THIS!). I also enjoy Raiti’s Rides too.
My favorite thing is that you guys keep it natural, other channels I came across and not subscribed are overly hyping things, screaming at the camera, try to hard I’d say. Also about gloss black things, oh hey it lacks gloss black, ignoring the fact of gigantic screen covered with finger prints right in the middle lol
What I like is that this content is presented in a way that is informative and funny. A certain other duo on another big channel in a similar geographic location tries way too hard to be funny. Their content is sometimes painful to watch
For the question of my favouritw part : the "with/without launch control" followed by your face reaction :D (especially your no-reaction on slow car launch, waiting for a momentum that never comes)
If you zoom in on that "wood grain" it literally looks like used newspapers. Am I crazy or does everyone else see letters and characters between the cracks? What do I like about your reviews? (typing before I see the end) I like how you two kind of come off as the odd couple and the humor that pops through but it's a little less "Pinky and the Brain" aka Throttle House. I like them for sure but you both seem like you're the same off camera as you are on camera. I like how you both are coming at this from the perspective of people like us so we get real things like "the visor test," but also genuine gripes about things most people don't like about modern vehicles. You're the megaphone for the rest of us. I've always liked how your editing/FX game has been way ahead of the other channels. If I had to distill it to one thing, it's who the both of you are and how you're bringing that to us in a genuine way.
Test drove 2025 GV80 yesterday and was super impressed. Going to test drive Q7 55 Prestige model next week. Any thoughts on these two models are much appreciated.
Price difference... We looked at Audi for a city sedan, went for G70 instead, was $10k less than the S3, which sounded like a lawn mower. Looked at the BMW X5, surprised at the price.
The wood in the center console is recycled newspaper, so all those colors are pieces of colorful text from old newspapers :)
That’s exactly what it looks like.
It looks fkn garbage. At 95k i would not be happy

I appreciate when you guys have opposing views and give in depth commentary on these differences. ❤
Best thing? Top 3: Banter, honesty in what you like and don’t, if Jacob fits in a seat, so will I.
Visor and pleasant blocker reviews. Seriously going through the tech menus are real helpful
Austin Powers.....born in 93
Dr. Evil propped up in the cup holder! Too funny 😂 lmao
My favourite parts are how you rev the cars so we can hear the exhaust and really test them, plus tell us the power figures.
First thing that came to mind. Hot liquid magma. Muahahahaha
What I like about TSP? You guys are genuine, down to earth and are funny without trying too hard.
My favorite part is the tension between you guys. Like at any point one of you guys might fight the other.... just waiting for that video to drop!
Boxing video at 2m subs
@@TheStraightPipes yes, but isn't "boxing" in Canada just exchanging presents?
You two just have good chemistry and don't try too hard to use your radio voice. Also love the intros, ...and we're goin' for a drive!
My favorite part is the box test … oh wait 😅
My favorite part is how you guys do cars that us plebs might actually buy, and your humor is more organic and less forced, unlike the channel that rhymes with Rotten Mouse. And your dynamic is great, instead of just listening to one person with all their “quirks and features” (THIS!). I also enjoy Raiti’s Rides too.
$60K US for a brand new car with this tech? That’s a good deal. I wouldn’t call this rich tho, I think $100K for a new car and above is rich style.
Jake looks magnificent in all the cars very ceo FBI agent vibes super chill relaxed.
6:54 Your Canadian🇨🇦I can see vehicle models that are specific to Canadian Motor Regulations!
Most provinces in Canada have gone with the rear plate only...........Ontario is stubborn!
That mood song is like an 80’s sitcom like Too Close For Comfort 😂
U guys R hilarious together…thank you for jumping to the details in a FUN way!
had a blackberry in middle school to freshman year of high school and man it was just the coolest thing ever
It does allow you to save your preset while driving. You press set and then you press 1 or 2 to save the preset. All HYUNDAI, KIA, GENESIS have that.
Naw. It says not available while driving haha
Genesis should have made a way to not have the license plate cover that grill with the refresh.
I love the in depth on car interiors!!!
What I like is that this content is presented in a way that is informative and funny. A certain other duo on another big channel in a similar geographic location tries way too hard to be funny. Their content is sometimes painful to watch
It's okay to just say Throttle House lol it helps them to hear the feedback
Yeah, but shoutout throttlehouse for doing High production and drag races, and taking on big risk and stuff
@@TheStraightPipesI like when Yuri says “Canadian”.
@@TheStraightPipes 110% overall their content is really good and the drag races are always enjoyable to watch 😄
Great to see you guys in new ward robe. Fits the theme of the car and channel!
You blew my mind with the Mike Myers fact at the end!
If I had to distill it to one thing, it's who the both of you are and how you're bringing that to us in a genuine way.
what I appreciates bout ya, was ur box tests. wish that'd make a comeback :P
We don’t meet up at a Central location at someone’s house anymore so it would be so hard to bring all the boxes every single time for a review :-(
@@TheStraightPipes aww, ya burst my bubble. i was picturing a world where yall had too many people wanting their names on the boxes x)
Great looking car, that Magma one is sicccck
i like the natural reactions and interactions
For the price I'd rather get the 2025 VW ID Buzz... which is also $95,000 Canadian... both are way out of my price range though :(
Interior noise? Ride quality? Comparison to similarly priced vehicles?
