I've just discovered your channel, but I am already a fan! I was born 1988 so I didn't get to experience the early days of gaming or even the prime of Atari, but I have had a soft spot for the company for a long time.
Recently, I had the opportunity to purchase a complete Atari 2600 in the original box. I assumed it would be the one everyone is familiar with, but it was the black version shown in this video. I didn't know it existed at the time, so I was pleasantly surprised and immediately gave the €20 my colleague asked. It did also come with three games.
This event has sparked my interest in specifically the Atari 2600, its long history and its vast library of games.
A couple of days after I had bought this black Atari 2600 from my colleague, I decided to get myself an Atari Flashback, simply because it would allow me to experience a lot of well-known games for a single price, as well as giving me the opportunity to play them on a modern television and not have to dig out my old CRT whenever I want to play. Unfortunately, the model I bought did not come with paddle controllers. I can't seem to find them for a decent price anywhere so I am probably going to end up buying another Flashback release that does include them. I saw one that comes with about 130 built-in games so I am leaning towards that one.
Lastly, I am contemplating on jumping onto the boat and grabbing myself an Atari 2600+ next month, although I have my doubts when it comes to long-term support of said system. What are your thoughts on that? Devices like the Evercade line of handhelds and consoles have seen great success in bringing physical retro gaming back, but I wonder if Atari can pull off that same trick...
Once again, thanks for the video and keep the Atari stuff coming! 👍🏻

It is humbiling to have such a great fan of the channel. I would avoid the flashback for the paddle games as it doesn't do a nice job; more to come on my channel soon :-)

Very good video. I first heard of the Vader years ago, but kinda forgot about it and have never looked it up or seen one. I like how it’s styling is a sort of intersection of the 70’s and 80’s…which makes sense given it’s time of release.

What do you think of the 2600+ with HDMI, and will you be buying one?
