Despite its imperfections, I really like the GS Pro. @GenXGrownUp informs us that a patch is on the way for the GS Pro which should resolve the left channel only sound issue.
I did some searching about the 5200-expansion port. I landed on an Atari age forum thread. There they said they were planning a music keyboard and a cart to expand the music capabilities of the 5200. There was talk of a keyboard but it was killed by the computer division. Ironic since a few years down the line they made the Atari XEGS.
Wow that’s the best looking 5200 controller I’ve ever seen. I don’t hate it either but the two I bought with my 5200 barely work. I may just replace them. Nice comparison. I get my GSP for Christmas so I hope to do my own comparison. I like the styling on the GSP how it looks like an old school Atari console.
I purchased 2 5200's a couple decades ago and got lucky as they came with several working controllers; completely unexpected. I hope you are just as happy with your GSP as I am :-)

Good Glavin, that box is bigger than the screen! Hah! But that's half the charm of the Atari 5200. It's larger than life.

The 5200 vs the GSP is almost comical in comparison.
But, wouldn't it be cool if they made a 5200 controller for the GSP!
