Thank you all for being a part of this experience. Writing this song was one of the most emotional undertakings I’ve gone through in my life. I’m glad I could share it with you all.
That is one heck of a peace you composed holy moly! I here some serious video game vibes, but also it reminded me of the days when I played in wind ensemble in school. Especially the use of all the horns in the second half. But it seriously felt like something out of one of those highbrow JRPG‘s like Final Fantasy or something like that just before you’re about to enter a massive boss battle and you have five monster is bad guys chasing you at once.
This piece is really a spectacle, one hell of a comeback song, you should be proud! I’m sure Hans Zimmer would be too if he hears this! 🔥🔥
Thank you for this ! You've achieved something huge !
Please Explain the meaning the one left and turned red then when the other killed him to stop the Red flow he turned Red. I'm seeing a good vs Evil, sin and Righteous theme love the song. Can't wait to here more haven't listened in a while but I got one of your albums in a playlist and have listen to the whole thing and chill lots in the past. Keep it up.
gorgeous
Yes please!!
Thanks for your amazing work on the track, Baard ;)
Did you know you have the same name as the drummer from Leprous!?
@@darkdudironaji ....I'm pretty sure he does indeed know that, lol.
@@johncolling673 i mean, not everybody listens to Leprous. Maybe he doesn't. 🤷♂️
@@darkdudironaji ...are you just pulling my leg, or do you seriously not realize that IS Baard Kolstad from Leprous posting here, lol? Here's a suggestion: re-read this thread.
I've Discovered Earthside with "a dream in static" a little bit more than 2 years ago, and it became instant classic to me. 2 years later i had the opportunity to make this clip with them... Earth is sometime an oddly small planet haha. Hope everyone will enjoy the clip as i enjoyed this new musical masterpiece :)
Amazing job on the video mate, well done!
Very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you and Sylvain, Maxime! It was a long road here (almost as long as it was for the brothers in the video ;), but I think the result speaks for itself.
Love the style. Some great shapes and cinematography
Incredible video 📹👏
Bravo mec ! Super taf !
5 years worth of wait and the excitement level being off the charts. Earthside can never, ever disappoint. This might be my favorite track from them so far. Godspeed to you, Earthside
It's actually quite flat. Purely talking about sound design.
We'll see
@WherePostRockDwells Thanks so much, Ronnie! We're pretty stoked about how this all came together as well ;) Really appreciate your involvement in this 🙏
@@crownedakuma I felt that as well. I am gonna listen to this on a streaming service, coz UA-cam is notorious for its compression
Not a bad song but they literally could have shaved 4 minutes off the 1st 6 and it would have been much better. I'm all for dramatic build ups but this one was extremely repetitive and un-interesting over such a long period of time.
I'm a total sucker for a dream in static, but this song feels off.
The mix isn't as crisp (midrange is a total mush) and feels as if it was an excuse for a drumsolo with Baard (nothing wrong with that, but gets a little flat overall) as there seems to be no melodies besides the "dramatic wall of noise" (overexaggerating).
Looking forward to the rest of the songs, as i still love the band no matter the previous comments. Just my 2 cents, Peace
Was a pleasure to make this clip for this talented band !!
I fell in love with this music.^
It was a pleasure working with you and Maxime, Sylvain
This Video reminds me a lot of Moderat - Reminder, which is a good thing ^^
Great video
It is a truly amazing animation, congrats!
Un travail grandiose, bravo !
When you and your bro decide to try and find something cool, but then your bro gets there first and when he gets back you realise your bro actually has super destructive tendencies and is going to destroy everything you care about already so you gotta stop him, BUT THEN you realise that your bro was actually trying to save/protect the things you care about from what he just found and that you doomed it all by stopping him.
Hate it when that happens.
I feel like my soul has been reset after witnessing this. I am a new man.
EL VERGA SECA SABE DE MÚSICA ACHIZZZZZZ
Strong "Shadow of the Colossus" and "The Last Guardian" vibes from the visuals. Like it.
One month later, I still continue to come back to this, really a masterpiece.
Same
& me
Hans Zimmer would be more than proud if he listens to this piece of art.
I am glad someone brought this up, I was thinking the same thing after having listened to this song for the first time. And I also thought to myself that a song by Earthside in collaboration with Hans Zimmer would be the absolute madness.
Yeah but did you know that Zimmer was heavily inspired by Philipp Glass's Koyaanisqatsi (1982)?
@@spinomarxist2688 Indeed, but this has little or nothing to do with my comment. If I accept your comment as relevant to this discussion, then we should move even further down the inspiration line and see who inspired Philipp Glass and so on and so forth. But I agree that Philipp Glass is amazing, especially with his Metamorphosis.
This organ remind me of Interstellar OST. By the way interesting proposal. Un commercial length and really awesome video
Yea, I definitely see some similarities with Hans´s style (or his style since Interstellar, because he slightly changed his approach to music in last few years) even the same pads and synths (Zebra or Diva?), but I will always prefer healthy combination of synts & orchestra...
As a metalhead since 19 years, i'm in the hardest type of metal (brutal death / grind / deathcore / technicaldeath) your album is a master piece. And this music as the END of this album is perfect. This song is beyond everything, full of emotion and power, this song mark a PERFECT closure for this incredible ALBUM.
Well Done.
Time just stood still for 9:22. That was IMMEASURABLY good. Earthside smashed it with the music, the artistry and the message, once again.
Anyone else who really wants to play this video game?
This whole video reminded me of the game Shadow of the Collossus
For sure seemed liked an epic game like the PS4 desert and and wind/ sand game but this was darker.
alien walking simulator
I do also love the atmosphere from this video! It's super intense and the landscape is super cool! It does remind somehow of Shadow of the Collossus, but yeah maybe a bit darker. Also reminds me a bit of this video Soilwork did for their Spectrum of Eternity.
Check bleak faith forsaken, gives me this vine really
Can't believe that was 9 minutes. Just brilliant. Congrats to all involved! What a production!
The first time I saw Earthside they opened for Leprous.
And now the forces have collaborated!
Very awesome song and very awesome video.
The Interstellar/Hans Zimmer influence really shows here. Amazing work guys! Glad to have you back
Wow. They say there is nothing new under the sun... this is something new.
i don’t think i’ve ever been so perfectly blue balled by a song for so long,
had me breathing in anticipation for the entirety of that build-up
Lol that's just a sign that the composer was being far too self indulgent
I've been waited for new music for 5 years and in the end it took me 2 nearly months to find out it had already been released. 😂
It's utterly beautiful. 😭
I sacrificed my entire family to the prog gods last year to get Earthside to release new material, and it looks like it finally paid off
Thank you for your sacrifice 🙂
I feel lonely and cold, small and insignificant listening to this. I also find it wonderful that you captured Zimmers sounds from interstellar and made it more majestic.
There are no words... just two: thank you.
The amount of quality concentrated in every single work of yours is just ridiculous.
Seeing you live one day would be a dream come true, I love your work so much.
Cheers from Germany!!
Puts the "cinematic" in "cinematic rock" for sure! Amazing instrumentation and an epic visual and aural journey! Love it!
It's funny cuz there were a lot of cinematic looking rocks in this video literally as well
With your music, you spark a spark in the souls of people. It fascinates, inspires, even scares a little with its beauty and power. I first heard you about 5 years ago and was very surprised that so few people are familiar with your work. We need to fix it.
Yes their music is captivating!
Oh god, Earthside, Baard Kosltad and one of the greatest clip in the history of metal ! What could we ask more ?
Andrew Mailloux on vocals? I'd ask for that...
But, no, this song _is_ perfect.
Absolutely can't wait! Been a fan since the first time I heard A Dream In Static.
There wasn't another LP/EP, right?
@@tomgrunig3161 It's their only album according to Discogs.
@@Gravityys nah they have another one from when the band was called Bushwack.
Well... That was epic af
Back in to say... this didn't disappoint! Saw Leprous with the wife in 2019 and they were one of the best performing bands we've seen. So cool to see the collab with Baard.
BREATHTAKING!!!
If Baard plays in it I have to listen.
WOW ! What a spectacular comeback. Absolutely blown away by the epic musicianship. Can't wait to hear the whole album.
I have literally waited 5 years for this and it was worth every second.
This is one of the most unique pieces of work I think I have ever seen. Thank you to the team that created this masterpiece.
About 1 month ago I discovered your music looking for new sounds. I showed my younger brother your music and we discussed how great your songs sounded, then I told him very sad that 4 years ago you didn't upload content and now you upload this ♥. I can say that in less than 2 hours you have made me a big fan of your art. Keep in that way !
I'd love to see a behind the scenes of the drummers
This is absolutely amazing, like nothing I've ever heard before. The history told with music fits perfectly with the video, but as it is, is just a masterpiece to be heard. I've just discovered this band I'm absolutely astonished. This is HUGE.
If we don't collectively work towards sustaining what remains of this world the ending's gonna be real bloody. So tragic and immediate. Thanks Earthside.
This band is extraordinary.
Incredible music and that vidéo clip… damn!!! 💪 congrats !
IM GLAD THIS SHOWED UP IN MY RECCOMENDED- oh my GOD it’s been so long!!!! And this is AMAZING.
Just came across this on 9gag. Great job op, waiting for the full reveal!
Having heard the debut literally hundreds of times since 2015, I couldn't be happier right now. I'm not really the emotional type, but there's seriously tears in my eyes right now, that's how exited I am. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am so looking forwards to continuing this musical adventure! :D
Beautiful … terrifying … heartbreaking … if music could change the world this just might do it. So much worth waiting for!
This is LOVE.. Welcome back, Earthside!!! 💜
The one place he wanted to save from being corrupted was the one place that became corrupted in the end. All else bears the scars.
Want to know what I love more than great songs? Great songs that have great animated music videos. This entire song is great, but I particularly had a giant smirk on my face starting at 6:05
This is art
This is in the middle of the night for me, so I can't be here for the premiere. But you bet I watch it first thing in the morning!
Can't stop watching this, each time I do, I notice something new, both in the video and the song, such a rich masterpiece
The wait was worth it! Gives off the same colossal aura as Interstellar or Gris in the sense that both of them share a similar orchestral wall of sound.
Oh yeah absolutely, both are fantastic 💪
Cannot wait!
this should get an Oscar for best short film
Oh, I don't believe my eyes!
cant wait cant wait cant waaaaaaaaaaaait
THANKS!!!!!!!!!
Musically and visually this is an absolute masterpiece. You must have put a lot of time, effort and money into this and it shows that you weren't going for quick fortune and fame but wanted to create something new and artistic.
You are indisputably the frontrunners of a new genre and I can only admire that.
If AWKAEL is a prelude for what is to come then it is almost inevitable that the new album will surpass the debut album and that is a job that I thought was impossible. Deep, deep, deep respect for this and I hope to see you soon in the Netherlands.
in an alternative universe you are gods, Earthside
Saw this on 9gag
Can you please send me the link?
One of my big interests is video games and although a spline folks are limited in what we can play I still find them a lot of fun. This track made me feel like I was about to go into an epic Bossfight. And if that’s just the first track on this album I can’t imagine what’s going to come out of this.
I can't imagine how many hours of work went into making this, but I am grateful I'm able to enjoy it
My favorite Drummer in one of my favorites bands. Awesome !
First time every hearing about you guys..clicked randomly...IM AM NOT DISAPPOINTED this was absolutely glorious
The video is incredible. I love every part of this.
Amazing!!! This is a complete artwork no less than any expectation... On the contrary, over the top!! Mind-blowing.
I hit the like button before even the sound began. That's how much faith I have in Earthside.
I've just discovered you. This song absolutely blew me away and captured my imagination. Thank you for this gift of music. Please make more.
Wow, that was epic!!
I can only imagine the amount of work that went into this - it's crazy.
I love it! Thank you guys for what you do!
Very rarely does an audio visual experience grip me so tightly and pluck strings in my mind I didn't even know were there. Have I just watched a retelling of Cain and Abel?
The video is just stunning. Skyline is one of my favorite songs of all time, it's a classic for me, so I'm glad this one is an instrumental too.
I realize I'm spamming the comments at this point, but after having listened to this song more times than I care to count since the release, I'm taken back to the urgency of the climax points in A Dream in Static. I remember feeling the tenseness and urgency in that video and the song itself, the near panic when the light started to fade and the darkness starting to eat away at borrowed time.
The same sense of urgency is even more prevalent in this video, just a build up of enormous proportions, fueled by the church organ. I constantly find myself sitting up straight and moving to the edge of my seat every time I re-watch this video, or even listen to it on Spotify. It's impossible to just listen to this song and not feel overwhelmed by panic and urgency, all the while just being overcome by sheer power.
It is so powerful and emotionally charged. This is what Earthside does best, cerebrally and emotionally.
This is absolutely incredible both visually and sonically, definitely worth the wait. I'll be revisiting to this video a lot
Happy Birthday!
A truly great Masterpiece!
Still my Most played Song since Release, always a great Journey!✌🏻
Music and video are both masterpieces. 10 minutes between dream and nightmare., but an amazing trip. Thank you and i love you Earthside !!!!!!
Normally I'm not mesmerized by the visual of music but this was absolutely captivating. It was riveting and breathtaking. It's been a really long time since I've found something I have thoroughly enjoyed.
You guys hit a homerun here. The music and video are both impeccable.
This is without doubt a masterpiece track - absolutely blew me away watching the video of the song - epic!!!
Hyped
Thank you for the new music. Wonderful. Way to go!
So I've watched this like 12 times and I'd love to hear people's interpretation of the video!
The red is communism taking over. I kid lol
Interesting video. My interpretation is people’s ugliness in times of struggle. The one guy leaves his friend to save himself and get “corrupted” by the red. His friend catches up and kills his friend to liberate him and the world and possibly get revenge. but corrupts himself in the process.
What do you think?
The big bang.
OMG THEY'RE BAAAAAAAAACK OMG OMG OMG, worth every fucking second of wait
Funny thing about the mix... of course I'm hearing two drumsets, but the way it's mixed, I feel like I'm in the room with two drummers playing one next to each other playing at the same time... that's impressive, for me at least
Sure, they really well mixed these two drums !
Ya ever seen _Slave_ live? Baard's tandem drumming game is on fire! 🔥
This is the best music video I’ve ever seen, a cinematic masterpiece
reminds me of the soundtrack from The Fountain and that was also excellent
Thank you for huge emotions. It was fantastic premiere and great music journey.
For some reason this video gives me really strong Tool vibes. Thank you for that, absolutely amazing track!
I'm in awe. I've never actually used the word "splendor" to describe anything, but this song and video together are the literal embodiment of it. No words. Just...wow. A Dream In Static was amazing, and somehow you've managed to outdo everything on it here. Can't wait to hear what comes next
4 years later here we are!!!
I was kinda waiting for Lajon vocals tbh but it´ll be fantastic to enjoy what you guys (E) have in store for us (E fans)...
Hope they'll make some nice emotional folk songs like "Entering the Light"
Me dejaron sin palabras 🖤✨ EXTRAORDINARIO
As a Leprous fan, the mention of Baard Kolstad got me interested.
Fantastic song, and fantastic album. Definitely a musical highlight of 2023.
I think you should try a "cinema concert", where you play music and there's a film like this in the background, you would create such an incredible experience
Is it just me or did that 9 minutes feel like 3? Love it love it love it! I just get so excited when I hear an organ :)
Woooow! Thank you!!!!!
The atmosphere is so beautiful, gave me instant chills! Gotta love these guys \m/ ♡
WONDERFULD !!!!!!!
Stable video 👍
The wait has an end ! What a happy day ! Big hugs from France 🇫🇷 🤘 ❤️
What a masterful work of art.
omfg. quite possibly one of the best things ive ever experienced.
Thanks! I’m watching again 🤟
Not sure how I missed this. What a journey and emotional rollercoaster this song is. I'm in awe
