The word is DJI is using shell companies (aka Spectra) to get around the federal mandates.
Wow I got to say, this is so very close to the DJI Air 2S and Mavic series drones it's amazing. Looks very good and hopefully just as good as the original.

I haven’t bought one because I was expecting to get a TEMU drone when the package came, but good to know it’s legit. Thanks for taking the risk! This truly could be the pilot test to evade the ban. 🤷🏻♂️
I was expecting the same actually. Then this thing showed up. I was pleasantly surprised.
I suspect that it's a re-branding (or licencing agreement) in advance of a potential ban of U.S. Governmental agencies being able to buy DJI drones. A very smart move if that's the case.

I saw in Amazon review the speed is higher than from the Air 3. Could it be another base because of different restrictions? So my interests are those: the different limits e.g. distance with active track (limited because of the C-certification), FCC/CE modes (do they change when in Europe) and over all the high speed which is limited to 19 m/s as well because of the C1-certification and the defined restriction comes with it.

Appears to be U.S. only. No sign of it on the Canadian Amazon site. Is this a try at avoiding the U.S. ban coming for DJI drones?

Is it a workaround for recent DJI ban?
I just can't see dropping $1,100+ on a basically "no name" drone, no matter how much it looks like a DJI.
Easy to understand. Someday Cogito may be a known commodity. They do have a second drone in the works.
It's obviously a clone of the Air 3. It should be interesting to see if Specta is part of the DJI family or is licensed by DJI to sell these cloned products. They may even be made by DJI for Specta. Inquiring minds everywhere would sure like to know.

The parent company designs and builds several components for dji, it appears to be a legitimate release with a pseudo license but intended for overseas, not here. It might be a glitch that it is up on amazon US in some areas but I don't see it..
I mean - we’re not stupid. This thing looks more than just “similar” to the DJI Air 3. All the same specs and 100% identical looks (minus badging) - You can’t tell me that if DJI really wasn’t involved in some way that they wouldn’t have a team of lawyers issuing cease and desist orders on this company. It seems like a pretty great product for the price, but without the proven track record of DJI, the quality of their customer support, etc., I’m just not buying it. DJI may be overpriced due to the lack of competition, but there’s no denying their quality. I’m not in the market for another GPS camera drone at the moment (my Air 2s is still more than enough for my needs and I just bought an Avata 2, which I’m completely in love with), but if I were, I’d absolutely be willing to pay more for the genuine DJI version of this drone.

Is it RID compliant? I take it it's not considered a recreational flyer due to it's weight but, I'm curious if there is a weight difference between it and the DJI Air 3.
They are within 2 grams of each other. I did weigh them. Yes it is RID compliant

Are the parts interchangeable? For example, can the batteries be swapped? What about the controller? Can you bind the DJI Controller to the Specta Air and vice-versa?
I’ll cover all of that in an upcoming video. Doing some testing but not totally compatible.
How did you find out about this drone? I hadn't even heard of it until watching your first video on it. I'm tempted, but I'd like to know more about it and the company before pulling the trigger. I'm a Part 107 Certified pilot and have been thinking about getting a new drone.
You mentioned that the Cavic Air 3 charger will work on the Specta Batteries. Will the Mavic batteries also work in the Specta? That could be a big selling point.
They reached out to me. Batteries are not compatible.
Cool. I'm looking forward to the full review. It would be nice to hear about any other accessories they will be offering in the ecosystem... like batteries, chargers, and carrying cases. I'm also really curious about the long-term support story.

Here's my guess this drone is actually made by DJI. They are trying to get ready for when the US Outlaws DJI drones. And that day will come within the next couple of years the next couple of years

Have you purchased any batteries yet? I have been emailing Cogito after sales for a week and I finally asked about batteries. This is their last email. It has the price of 159 and props 12 dollars.

I think early Air 3 was over sharpened. Firmware seems to have made it better.

You're looking for differences between the two drones, but why would there be? This specta drone isn't a rip off copycat drone junker that just looks like the air 3 ? Like most of the mini drones that came out copying the dji mini 1&2 they were all garbage but DJI licensed and shared schematics with spectra charging and allowing them to build an exact replica. I believe they knew about this push to take DJI out of the market by government and are covering their asses to keep generating cash from this market through licensing fees. If
DJI does lose all government contract like police and fire departments and search and rescue etc. What better place for those clients to go than Specta for exact replicas and parts, software updates etc?

This drone on amazon is $1199. Basically paying $1200 for a copy. Also geo zones are lock and can not be unlock on this copy. So not worth it when the original dji air 3 is $100 more. You aint saving shtz buying a geo locked drone. Lmao
