i love how deathcore keeps getting slower and death metal keeps getting faster lmfao
How did I not even realize that
But many good OSDM bands are slow at times
Listen to death/doom if you want slow death metal. Hooded Menace is a good start.

@@jessfreeman3272 ofc he likes that... And I'm sure he likes the whole parts of this video... He doesn't said that he prefer deathcore... He just said that the breakdown is sick...
Yusa my point is not that he likes deathcore better than death metal and that’s bad, my point is that breakdown sounds like every other deathcore breakdown ever. And I’m sorry but putting 0s and 1s in random 8th and 16th note patterns takes no skill or talent whatsoever. But you know if he likes it he is totally entitled to his opinion.
Jess Freeman except that’s factually incorrect.
I feel like the biggest difference overall, from an objective standpoint, is that deathcore is a little more focused on staggered rhythms and sounding as crushing and ear-pounding as possible. Every single "chug" as you people like to call it is meant to feel like a punch to the gut.
On the flip side, death metal is a more focused on technicality, speed, and chaos.
Both genres are guilty of trying to sound as "br00tal" as possible in some cases but both bands have great things to offer. I feel like judging deathcore is a bit unfair because it's still a young genre. It's only ten years old as of this year or so, meanwhile death metal is thrice that age. Some deathcore that's been coming out in recent times is some killer stuff. I used to think deathcore was on the verge of biting it but then I heard bands like Slaughter to Prevail, Angelmaker and Aversions Crown. I feel like deathcore is right about to really show us what it's made of given the good shit that's been coming out lately. Just wait and see.
Excellent comment, very well said
+Inspector Kemp This is a weak argument. For one they are not even completely separate genres, deathcore is split off from death metal itself. The roots of the genres are completely different though. Death Metal had incredible bands from the very beginning like Morbid Angel and Death with albums that have stood the test of time. Death metal was built from thrash and was created specifically to be more creative and to require technical skill.
Deathcore on the other hand was taking death metal and dumbing it down to generic riffs, blast beats and breakdowns. Deathcore is not an evolution of the genre. It's basically easy listening death metal. Doesn't require any thought to enjoy it.
Not all Deathcore is bad, like I think Ion Dissonance are great, but they actually try unique things and are considered a "math" band at least.
+Inspector Kemp When death metal was as young as deathcore is now, we already got classics and great works
So I don't accept your excuse
vOddy75 Except nobody was calling death metal's classics "the death metal classics" five years after they came out.
Inspector Kemp
Deathcore has been around for almost two decades now. It just recently got popular but I mean it was still popular ten years ago. Your arguments are completely invalid. 10 years after Death Metal started there were already "definitive" classic albums that every fan should check out. Deathcore has nothing of the sort. There are no deathcore albums that have gained widespread respect amongst the greater heavy metal community. Because most of it is average at best. I mean it's no surprise since it's almost designed to be average and easily consumable. Just for example, even bands like Underoath who early on blurred the line between death/black metal and metalcore, their only critically acclaimed album Cries of the Past wasn't even considered deathcore... it was deemed death metal because it actually had good death metal composition that made it completely unlike anything in the deathcore scene. In fact, if there were any classic "deathcore" album, I would consider this album to be the closest such thing to it. (www.sputnikmusic.com/review/40970/Underoath-Cries-of-the-Past/)
Making metal more palatable isn't necessarily a bad thing but it also means the peak of the genre will top out pretty low compared to other genres which are far more ambitious. It's harder to make a technically competent album sound good; it requires more compositional skills and planning. Deathcore is simpler by design. Sure it sounds nice and heavy and you can mosh to it, but it isn't anything special either.
I listen to both but death metal won

This video makes deathcore looks like It is only breakdowns... The whole video sounds like a deathcore song for me, cause deathcore songs has the deathmetal parts too, its not only breakdowns
And that's why he had to play deathcore breakdowns only, Otherwise there will be no difference between both, he had to play what makes deathcore unique.

Deathcore is Hell while death metal is the spinning ring of fire as you fall in Hell. Death metal is fast like your falling through Hell and when you land Deathcore is what Hell looks, sounds, and feels like.
I'd say Death Metal is more seeing your entrails spilled out before you while you die then you go to Deathcore hell.

There's good and bad in both genre, but I personally have far more respect for Death Metal, mainly because there's far more creativity in it, and there's far too many generic crap in death core, and also far more emphasis on style rather than substance.
I also really hate what deathcore has done to breakdowns. They used to be used sparingly and if it aided the specific song and it's mood, but deathcore has just turned it into this stupid thing that's put into a song as a measure of how "br00tal" it is, and is more about style than substance.
you might enjoy slice the cake or painted in exile...
+Guttural Vocal Covers You've obviously never listened to technical death metal. I'll take that over deathcore any day. That isn't to say there aren't deathcore bands I don't like.
+Guttural Vocal Covers Death metal is all rhythm.
+Guttural Vocal Covers trollbait.
Tbf though, you take a band like Black Tongue, who are essentially just breakdowns, and they're stupendously heavy because they found a way to make it work and they're fantastic. Nothing technical, not even pretending to be technical (they could if they wanted to, hence Infant Annihilator), just plain heavy for heavy's sake. It's brilliant. Generally, I don't like breakdown infested deathcore but it just works for these guys.

Why do you only play breakdowns for deathcore?
Aleksander Abdulov That's mostly what deathcore is known for is just chugging breakdowns so i assume he wanted to make it clear that it was deathcore i dont know just a guess
Nicholas Lam idk m8, listen to Embrace The End and With Dead Hands Rising, deathcore is clearly more than just open chugs
Aleksander Abdulov Oh yeah i know that all deathcore bands aren't generic i was just saying that is like what is most know of deathcore
Nicholas Lam There's also high notes in Deathcore. Like the bands Oceano and one of my personal favorites, Buried By The Earth
Aleksander Abdulov Because a lot of deathcore bands play nothing but brodowns
1:18 is so awesome
Ugh can't choose!!!!! They're both beautiful!!!!
he makes a good point about deathcore, but in defence of deathcore: There is a new genre that has been hitting the scene lately that I'm calling "progcore" It is basically a more experimental (and generally more brutal) version of the different "core" genres combined. You can hear this in new oceans ate alaska, napoleon, or dionaea. These bands are generally heavily influenced by deathcore.

No, because "core" comes from punk, which became a thing after prog metal was already invented.
