Guy at work told me to try yarn for salmon and/or steelhead. I found this video watched it about 10 times. Think Im going to go for it and try for salmon in the next few days. Maybe even hook onto a fall steelhead. Thank you for a very straightforward video and fairly simple method for me to learn this new way of fishing.
Thanks man, so I was out at Enloe dam just pitching for hours. I'm using everything & going deep. My super lure a Brads Superbait Plug filled with cured salmon & some roe on the hook got 3 bites, just terrible. So this 14 year old kid rolls in & hooks up with 6-8 huge monster chinook. My mind was blown, I went over to see what he was using & it was chartreuse yarn on a hook with a big weight. Mind blown. I spent around $100 this last month on some Mag Lip 4.5's & 5.0's & just seeing them fail over & over to yarn hurt my feels bro. Anyways kid killed it but did lose all the fish, one of those days. But these were the kind of fish you lose even doing everything right, just massive kings. So wow, yarn lol. You just never know what is going to pull out the big ones.
Nice, I like how you are using the Snell knot and still having the loop. I have tried something similar with a bait loop knot but it does not hold the yarn like that. Not unless you tie the yarn... which is a hassle. Great use of the knot itself up against the hook to keep the yarn tight!
I appreciate your response.Whats the name of that River you were fishing at on your other video? I'm look for new places to fish, im always fishing the betsie each year.
That was the Huron River, close to Lake Erie. Not really a Salmon river. More of a spring steelhead spot. I use to fish the Betsie, Little Manistee and the PM all the time.
I drift them, I run a pretty long leader 7’-8’ to a barrel swivel and then my weight on my main line just above the barrel swivel knot. I run spilt shots on the main line and I go kinda heavy try and slow the drift down, cast out reel in a little to pull your line tight and use your index finger and lightly hold the line against the rod and you should feel the gravel on the bottom as the split shot bounces off and then when you feel a pulling set the hook! You have to be sure you are on gravel bottom or similar to fish this setup.
Congratulations, I'll be Salmon fishing the end of next week, on a Northwestern Michigan River, haven't decided which one. Lol So keep an eye out for a new fishing video.

I’ve watched so many videos on how to tie that knot. This one has been one of the raider to follow. Thanks!
Sweet , egg on the run . Nice because you don’t use a lot of hooks to tie different colors just change the yarn . I like it . Thanks for the video.
Thank you for that information, very helpful, now I am ready for salmon

Would that happen to be flat rock dam 🤔
Hey thank you for sharing, this is very practical technique to go back to casting in the water.
Your welcome. Good luck fishing. Kris
Exactly how my buddy Will showed me. Easiest way over an egg knot.
Do you add split shot sinker when casting it?
my favorite technique and i slay them with it
My favorite technique also, simple and easy for Salmon in rivers with gravel bottoms.
So just use this method with a split shot and cast and let current take it?
Yes sir, put on enough weight so you can feel the bottom.
There is a recent comment where I explained it in detail.
Do u drift these set ups or use a bobber? Thanks

@@ThePullTabPro awesome, thanks for the response
how on earth is that secure?
It pulls tight because it’s a snell knot, the knot slides up the hook and it pulls tight
The harder you pull on your line the tighter the knot pulls the yarn
Grand river?
Huron river.
@@ThePullTabPro cought a 10 lb king on the grand today, first one ever!

@@ThePullTabPro Hello. Just wondering what type of yarn that is? I want to buy some and do this but can only find thin thin yarn.
