When it comes to recording your songs, there are two main methods: live recording and multitrack recording. Live recording involves miking up guitars, drums, vocals, and having everyone play together whilst you record. Meanwhile, multitrack recording involves recording each instrument individually.
Both approaches have their merits, and both have some potential drawbacks. Some prefer the convenience and the tightness of a multitrack recording. Others appreciate the energy captured in a live performance.
In today's video, I'll guide you through the advantages and disadvantages of live recording versus multitrack recording. I'll also introduce you to a hybrid method, that combines elements of both, offering a practical solution for home and project studio users which, despite its effectiveness, is often overlooked.
