    In this extensive overview video for Scaler EQ, David Carbone, the creative director of Scaler Music, takes viewers through the essential features and user interface navigation before delving into practical examples with guitars and drums.
    The user interface of Scaler EQ showcases nodes that users can select either directly or via dedicated node buttons, allowing for easy manipulation of cut, boost, and reset functions. Users can fine-tune parameters such as window width and Q to sculpt various shapes, boosting natural frequencies while cutting out-of-key elements.
    Scaler EQ provides dynamic capabilities like toggling nodes, transposing keys, and selecting scales and modes. The presence of a dynamic compressor and expander, along with unique filter shapes like harmonic peak, partials, and magic shells, contributes to the plugin's versatile nature.
    Notably, Scaler EQ enables selective boosting and cutting of in-key and out-of-key frequencies, offering a distinctive musical touch. The tool's ability to distinguish harmonics and toggle them enhances its adaptability. Users can opt for uniform changes across nodes using global mode or set individual keys per node with global mode turned off.
    Within the settings, users can customize display preferences, switch between sharps and flats, and explore tool tip options. Scaler EQ can function as a traditional EQ, harmonically, or both, providing users with a flexible and versatile approach.
    Moving on to practical applications, Scaler EQ proves its efficacy with acoustic and electric guitar loops, demonstrating its capacity to enhance or shape the sound. In drum loops, the plugin excels in separating musicality and rhythm, showcasing nuanced adjustments.
    When applied to vocal tracks, Scaler EQ emerges as a reliable tool for traditional enhancements. Features like magic shelf and harmonic peak refine vocals harmonically or selectively remove undesirable frequencies. The plugin is also adept at cleaning up vocal tracks and applying resonator effects.
    In the context of music buses, Scaler EQ showcases its ability to identify bass frequencies' key, enhancing or cleaning up the effects bus. Users can achieve a smooth reverb effect while preserving musicality by adjusting node width and cues.
    In summary, Scaler EQ offers a comprehensive set of tools for audio enhancement and shaping across various instruments. Its dynamic and harmonic capabilities make it a versatile asset for both traditional and creative sound processing. Users are encouraged to explore Scaler EQ to elevate their music production experience. Thanks for watching!

    For anyone who wants this EQ and doesn't have the money, just know that you can do all of this on your DAW's stock EQ. Just know the key of your track, Google the frequencies of the notes, create individual notch filters for the notes and frequencies, and adjust them accordingly. In many ways, it gives you more control than Scaler EQ.
    I personally use Pro Q3 as my EQ of choice and it makes this process easier because it has a keyboard at the bottom that you can click to make adjustments based on specific keys.

      I dont think so. I think they should improve Scaler first before anything else. So much to improve like correct chord detection, displaying inversions, larger chord visibility so its possible to actual read without using a magnifier glass etc etc.

    A few questions:
    Could you give an example of how to use Scaler EQ on material with complex key changes? Also, could a future update including the option to follow the root note similar to Surfer EQ or could note detection be implemented via midi send the same way you can in Scaler? Great work btw!

    • @k-chill8428
      @k-chill8428 7 місяців тому +3

      Seconded for all of this. Some way of automating the keys and modes would also be useful. Otherwise it's pretty useless for any material that uses modal interchange or non diatonic notes.

    • @OmkaraHellcore
      @OmkaraHellcore 5 місяців тому +2

      Without automation, it's not useless at all. You simply need to add multiple instances of Scaler EQ that each correspond with the individual scale.
      Would it be a preferable quality of life addition to be able to automate? Yes without a doubt.

      Hi Ben, Scaler EQ is great for this. Once you have your key and scale input or detected, I'd suggest for the kick that you boost your root, 5ths and maybe 4ths. That will tune it nicely, you can do so by deselecting the notes as per this video. In terms of in-harmonics be careful not to notch too extremely around the bottom end as this type of filtering will cause post filter decay which is not too much of an issue but just FYI

    Nice EQ! Been playing with it for a few days now and it certainly adds flavour and clarity! And is massively powerful when combined with Scaler 2 to power my instruments.
    I hope a future update has the Dynamics pop-up bar moved off the frequency window. It's a bit of a nuisance popping up all the time when dialling in frequency removal. Just give it its own static frame beneath the main EQ frame.

    • @davidecarbonemusic
      @davidecarbonemusic 7 місяців тому +1

      Sidechain is actually there! And it's pretty awesome! This works automatically for VST3/AU/AAX in most DAWs, as in: you don't need a button on the plugin to enable/disable the side-chain. However, for VST2, we would need a button to make the plugin work correctly.

    Interesting concept. If we are going to be so passionately in-depth on frequencies I would like to see flexibility for deviation from the compromising 12 TET and 440hz tuning (this system doesnt truly serve us anymore in this digital age). For scaler I can use it with Entonal Studio. For this i dont think that would work. Also if the peaks become resonant filters and its easily midi learnable this could become an interesting and quite unique instrument for electronic experimental/ambient musicians. If these things would be addressed this could really open up a whole new market.

    Awesome! What, exactly, are the magic shelves doing? It looks to me like they are increasing (or decreasing) the sides of the shelf more than the mids. Is that the case? For both the magic high shelf and the magic low shelf, or is it reversed for the low shelf (i.e. boosting the mids and cutting the sides)?

    I have the PDF of the manual, which is identical except that it's easier to read. The first relevent information says that Scaler EQ will run in "evaluation mode" and there will be periodic "bursts of white noise." Well, I have my earbuds in and there is no noise at all. But what really irks me is that it says I need to register Scaler EQ by tapping on the logo in the upper left, which will supposedly open a "Registration" area or link. Well, no, it does no such thing! When I tap on the logo it only opens a box with some irrelvent information and nothing at all about Registration. All the videos here show a lot of tapping around scrolling of the interface, accompained by uninformative double-talk and nothing that would help anyone to get started.

    This seems like a capable EQ, but there is no point in removing from a vocal, for example, the notes that are not in the key in which the person is singing. If the person isn't singing those notes, there's nothing noticeable to remove. There are certainly good uses for this EQ! But that particular claim doesn't really make sense.

Just trialing Demo Version - why is there white noise every 20 seconds - I cannot seriously demo it with this - Also causing Reason 11 to unexpectedly close without warning!!! uninstalling which is a shame...anyone else successfully tried it with Reason 11?

      With 'In Scale' and 'Flip Harmonics' Lit when you boost it boosts in-key and when you cut that behaviour reverses and you are cutting out of key. By toggling those switches you can create any behaviour to suit. Have you seen my 'Everything you need to Know' video?, first five minutes does a run through of the different behaviour. I use Scaler EQ is Reason 12 and we have tested in Reason 10 also so can't see why there would be issues in Reason 11 but would love to know if there are, any chance you could head over to the scaler forums and post your Platform/OS what's happening etc so we have our Dev's investigate?
