I vote you get a grey L shaped sectional and move it forward a bit so it’s got front legs on the rug and there’s a pathway behind it. It would cozy up your space and you could reach your coffee table from the sofa. Then put very narrow console table on the wall behind. I bet your puppies would love doing laps around that set up!
For more environmentally friendly cleaner! Use a mix of water and vinegar in a glass spray bottle! Perfect for cleaning work tops, windows, surfaces, floor! We use it for everything (and we have pets). My mum also works in a school and they say to use it for cleaning surfaces in schools too as it's the most effective (and safe)!
Someone else has mentioned this and I had never really thought of it. Thats why we love you guys SO much, great ideas! We will be looking into get some glass spray bottles and making our own, so Im sure it will appear in a vlog or on my IGTV 👍

Hi Emma! I know you said you’re looking at buying a new grey couch, have you thought of maybe a deep blue or green? I used to have a grey, black & white living room and it ended up being too bland for me. Now I changed everything to blue, fuchsia, black, plants 🌱, gold and creams it looks homey. xx
I think u should introduce some colour into the living rm, even if the rug had a tiiiiiny bit more contrasting colour, it would lift the room and not blend into the wooden floor.... love the panelling idea, but a colour would be even better!

A tip for the ODD number of glasses: I keep that odd number stored away in case another glass gets shattered and then I just bring it out to make it an even set again. So you have 7 glasses, you can store 1 glass and keep 6 in use or store 3 and keep 4 in use...I understand this issue and I keep the odds stored (plates/wine glasses etc.) especially if you risk not finding the exact design/style. This way you can both lay down watching tv , and you leave a real passage when you open the door straight to the other floors. The space flow will be much better !

Lots of differing how to’s about this on YT. Helpful! Re furniture- I like your mix now of warm and cool neutrals. A grey sofa could be depressing maybe with so much other grey? Depends on how it makes you feel! I used a lighter teal from my eye color for my bedroom walls, a creamy ecru skin tone for my LR walls so my home is the perfect background for me. Hey Emma, hope you're feeling better. I work in digital content creation, and I'm in awe of how consistently you put out high quality content across so many platforms. I recently learned that recycling should be called downcycling. Plastic can only be recycled seven or so times. With that in mind - and with your concerns about toxins etc, have you ever considered making your own cleaning products? You can use castille soap and antibacterial essential oils in reusable spray glass bottles (I know it sounds a bit woowoo 🤣). Really effective, non toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, and smells delish. One last thing (sorry for epic length) did you decide against going for fillers? Sorry if you have and I've missed it. X
Yes I am still researching fillers but it wasn't for me at that time. And no I had never thought of making my own, but that is a great idea and something Ill definitely look into. Need to get some glass spray bottles first 👍

Emma Hill yes, is been crazy. Hot, rainy, crazy storms. Last year we used a/c maybe a week or two out of the entire summer (I love for the windows to be open). But this year it’s been running for over a month straight. Farmers are still trying to get the last of the crops in the fields because it has been so damp.

I have panneling in some of my rooms in my house, and I’m telling you its a pain in the ass, they gathers so much dust - specially in the bedroom 🤦🏽♀️ - but it is nice to look at, but get some nice artwork with color in-sted 🙌🏼

Yes it is very good, so powerful. But depending on how much hair you pick up it does need emptying quite often (but then we have 5 fur babies worth of fur to collect 🤣🙈)

All you in the IUK call just put up little moldings directly on the wall Panelizing? Here in the US proper panelized walls is when the whole wall has wood with a set in panel with detail molding around it. Is this a trend in the UK right now just to stick picture frame molding directly on the plaster wall? Lydia, Victoria and you are all doing it right now. If your going to panelized or wainscot do it the right way. It will look so much nicer.
I don't know if it is a trend just in the UK, the panelling I like is inspired by the French. I guess the difference is a lot of American homes are wooden structure, where in the UK this is very rare, almost all are brick so having a full wooden wall put in would not only take more space but would be a HUGE job. However we are still undecided, its going to be a rolling project over the coming months 👍

Ana Cristina Guerra My niece lives in Ferragudo and is married to a gorgeous Portuguese drummer 😉 We don’t do much sunbathing as we already live in a hot country and its not something we enjoy, but we love to spend more time in the bigger towns checking out the wonderful restaurants and, of course, shopping! Oh and Portuguese food is so delicious! 😋 😀 We are hoping to take the coach and spend a couple of days in Lisbon this time too!
Emma, love the rug! I've got one just like it in taupe. Mine is an "Exquisite". It looks so rich! Simon, you need a new couch. 😉. We have had issues with ours sagging as well. Look for "extra firm" cushions" when you shop. Also make sure the removable so later on you can always get them restuffed. Your back will thank you later. 😍. I use method as well . They have a great granite cleaner in case you all have granite. Emma, keep your chin up, we all have days like that. I don't do well with large groups and get moody when I get ready to go to them. Sh** happens😉
Have you had any problems with that Miele vacuum cleaner?. The handle on mine has split twice, and the filter keeps on getting blocked, yes I have 2 dogs and use it everyday!
Not really. The only thing we find is that it occasionally switches to comfort mode (which essentially means it switches itself off) and we can't discover why as sometimes its when its empty and other times its full. Only thing we find is with 5 dogs we need to empty it quite regularly but aside from that we love it. 👍

Great idea! luckily we are always using those so there's normally at least 1 or 2 in the dishwasher so its not too bad.

Yes it is great. I use it anywhere that we have tiles (only the bathroom now after the kitchen Reno). 👍

Most of the new plants have come from a local flower market, although some of the older ones have come from various places - including Ikea 👍

I have that striped Arket tee. Now only ever buy my tee's from them. Love them. I noticed when Simon was cleaning you have the Miele Blizzard cat and dog, how do you find it? Our Dyson has just died and need a new vacuum cleaner, we have 2 cats so lots of fur!!
Yes it is very good, so powerful. But depending on how much hair you pick up it does need emptying quite often (but then we have 5 fur babies worth of fur to collect 🤣🙈)

All you in the IUK call just put up little moldings directly on the wall Panelizing? Here in the US proper panelized walls is when the whole wall has wood with a set in panel with detail molding around it. Is this a trend in the UK right now just to stick picture frame molding directly on the plaster wall? Lydia, Victoria and you are all doing it right now. If your going to panelized or wainscot do it the right way. It will look so much nicer.
I don't know if it is a trend just in the UK, the panelling I like is inspired by the French. I guess the difference is a lot of American homes are wooden structure, where in the UK this is very rare, almost all are brick so having a full wooden wall put in would not only take more space but would be a HUGE job. However we are still undecided, its going to be a rolling project over the coming months 👍

Ana Cristina Guerra My niece lives in Ferragudo and is married to a gorgeous Portuguese drummer 😉 We don’t do much sunbathing as we already live in a hot country and its not something we enjoy, but we love to spend more time in the bigger towns checking out the wonderful restaurants and, of course, shopping! Oh and Portuguese food is so delicious! 😋 😀 We are hoping to take the coach and spend a couple of days in Lisbon this time too!
Emma, love the rug! I've got one just like it in taupe. Mine is an "Exquisite". It looks so rich! Simon, you need a new couch. 😉. We have had issues with ours sagging as well. Look for "extra firm" cushions" when you shop. Also make sure the removable so later on you can always get them restuffed. Your back will thank you later. 😍. I use method as well . They have a great granite cleaner in case you all have granite. Emma, keep your chin up, we all have days like that. I don't do well with large groups and get moody when I get ready to go to them. Sh** happens😉

Have you had any problems with that Miele vacuum cleaner?. The handle on mine has split twice, and the filter keeps on getting blocked, yes I have 2 dogs and use it everyday!
Not really. The only thing we find is that it occasionally switches to comfort mode (which essentially means it switches itself off) and we can't discover why as sometimes its when its empty and other times its full. Only thing we find is with 5 dogs we need to empty it quite regularly but aside from that we love it. 👍
