Welcome to our series of vlogs where we will be renovating our early 1960's converted bungalow in the beautiful Kent countryside. This renovation will involve a lot of #DIY as we do like to get stuck in however we are not professionals in any way so these are not tutorials 😂. From experience renovating previous properties we know that we learn from our mistakes and pick up new tips, tricks and skills along the way. This is not going to be a quick turn around, we'll be doing this over the course of the next few years so thank you for coming along for the journey, hopefully we'll still have all our limbs, fingers and toes intact by the end of it 🤞🏼

Finally, I get it! Cleaning and tidying up is so much easier with a minimalistic esthetic. Also, really appreciate that you have one set of bed linen; what's needed, and no more.
I must admit in Winter it would be nice to have an additional set as our tumble dryer is a heat pump dryer so takes twice as long to dry stuff. Our bedding was quite expensive which is why we didn’t buy 2 sets 🙈
Wait til you get the flu and then you’ll understand why two is a minimum
I must say, I love Emma, both her down to earth personality and her style, but I think it’s slightly insane she only has one set of sheets considering how many pairs of nearly identical sneakers she owns lol.
As beautiful as I find Emma's house, think I prefer not having a minimalist aesthetic and just... not cleaning everything every week. 🙃
I love and follow the minimalistic approach with everything, but the bedding. We have had overnight pet accidents in our bed. You just wip out the second set and go back to sleep.
This was almost meditative. The music, the calmness, and your voice. I was hooked! Yes to more cleaning 🧼 vids this was therapeutic 😊
So motivated by this after 9 minutes, I paused it to go vacuum the skirting boards!

How I looove the doggies being totally not bothered by the hoover! That shows how safe and loved they are! Which of course, as a dog mum myself, makes me like you even more!

He’s colourblind so always puts them on this way 😆🙈
@@EmmaHill My son is also colourblind. We bought him enchroma sunglasses and he can actually see red and green colours. It was autumn here in Canada when he first tried them and he cried when he realized what he had been missing. He was facinated by purple flowers in the summer too.
@@EmmaHill but colour blind is a problem with greens and reds - his socks are shades of cream and grey.
I'm always so happy to see the pups. I just rescued a 12 year old one tooth chihuahua I called Bitty Betty. She was quite taken with Boris.

This was so relaxing to watch. Thank you for sharing your Sunday routine. I also have a similar one, although I don't always get to do all our windows because there's too many. So I mainly focus on the ones we use the most and save the rest for when we're doing a proper clean, similar to a spring clean.

The art of making a home is immensely satisfying. I am what one might call a “Neatener” I suppose. I don’t do one large top to bottom clean, I clean as I go about my day. A cupboard here, a room there, and by the end of the week, everything has been gone over. It is so soothing to watch people clean lol. My sister and I have books dedicated to the art of home cleaning and organizing and what not. It’s so interesting to learn about the different ways people have traditionally tackled the running of a household. Just lovely ❤
We do the same, any time we use something we clean it/put it back in it’s place. We hoover every day, wipe surfaces every day, dust every day but we still like to do the ‘routine’ on a Sunday 🙊
@@EmmaHill once the kiddo are no longer living with us, this will be me for sure lol. It’s so soothing!! The house never feels as peaceful, to me, as when I know every crook and cranny has been cleaned. It just seems like the light is brighter somehow 😃

❤❤❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I was taught and made to clean the house every weekend when I was little (before my teen years) and I hated it! 😩😩😩But now I’m an adult and a home owner I made my own rules. I don’t have to clean on any specific day, I just do it as soon as I see something that needs attention. It’s so much less stressful and I don’t hate weekends anymore. 😁❤️

Oh I really enjoyed this! More cleaning videos pleased! Lovely little Bs on the sofa too - so cute! I'm off soon to dog sit my daughter's two large and hairy Newfoundlands so the cleaning of the dog hair spoke to me! DD has a Karcher wet and dry vacuum cleaner which is very good for sucking up the hair. Love to you, Simon and the Bs. Xxx
Tip: You could use a top sheet under the duvet, which really helps protect the duvet cover and minimises washing. Come summer, you can throw off the duvet on warmer nights and still have the benefit of a top sheet to lightly cover you. Works a treat for us all year round. 😊

It's good to hear your feedback on white vinegar as I recently bought some lavender oil to use as a laundry fragrance and it says to use it in white vinegar and that along with softening clothes it helps keep whites white and colours bright, along with keeping the machine clean! What a great natural addition! I've also recently switched to laundry sheets, natural, vegan and obviously no packaging to throw away as they come in an envelope! Cleaning can be very calming and meditative when kept on top of and in some cultures, like Japan, it is an essential part of self care and mindfulness being aware of carefully looking after your environment and the things in it. Lovely upload ❤

Emma, this was a great video and wonderful to see how you & Simon keep your beautiful home clean. I totally agree about the bed being made before I go to sleep. My husband and I sometimes make up the bed at night before crawling into it a few hours later with a sigh of contentment ☺️and I think that keeping up the kitchen and bathrooms during the week makes a difference. Our kitchen is cleaned after each use and then the big clean is easier on the weekends.
Oh it definitely does and I don’t know about you but if we didn’t clean the kitchen after use we couldn’t function properly. Everything needs to be clean and things put back in their place 🙊

We have worked really hard to get this house so we do like to look after it but we’re also both people that can’t properly function unless the house is clean and tidy 🙊

I love that you're using the white vinegar. I only have 3 cleaning products in my house white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda.

i am in Australia and have followed you from your very first appearance and remember the last house well and always loved your dogs. My dog is much larger a Belgian Shepherd Tervuren but yours are so gorgeous that they can get on the couch ( on the quiet mind does at night at bedtime but it is covered in rugs etc. Keep up the goodwork
