When people are looking to treat their anxiety without medication, what they usually mean is that they want to know what herbs and supplements will work for them. And because I get asked about this a lot, I did a ton of research last year on natural supplements to treat anxiety. So in this video I go over 15 of the research-backed natural treatments for anxiety that have been shown to have an impact, but I am also going to talk about a much more holistic approach to mental health. At the end of this video I’ll list seven other effective treatments for anxiety, but this video is mostly about supplements. So let’s talk about a couple of ways to combat anxiety other than medication
There’s this incredibly widespread misconception out there that if you get diagnosed with depression or anxiety, that means that you were born with anxiety or depression; that it’s so genetic that there’s nothing you can do about it. Now, of course, there’s a biological factor, but there are about 20 other factors too. It’s not your fault, but it is treatable. Don’t get sucked into the unhelpful pattern of believing you just have to suffer through life. I go into a lot more detail on this in my online course “Change your Brain: 10 Alternatives to Medication to Change Brain Chemistry.” This course teaches ways to change your thinking and actions that actually change your brain chemistry.

Ive had depression and anxiety for 20 years , and been on meds .I’ve found swimming helps , and aqua aerobics , plus a sauna and steam afterwards . Try and walk a little daily , and sit in the garden . Listen to a podcast , if bored , or read the paper in the garden . Depression and anxiety can cause lack of motivation , but the key is not to listen to the neg thoughts , take action , shush the negative .thoughts . The right supplement can do wonders .

This is my story: About 2 months ago I was formally diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety. I was put on actual meds to help me manage it because around the end of July I started developing extremely debilitating symptoms. Some of my symptoms included blinding headaches, pain in my joints, inability to eat, hypersensitivity to sounds and light, extreme fatigue but unable to winddown or feel rested after sleeping, and I could not take two steps without feeling winded. It was crazy. I had been having panic attacks since I was a child but my family does not believe in mental illness, so I did not acknowledged there could be something wrong with me until A LOT of damaged happened to me all throughout my childhood up until 2017, when I had the craziest panic attack where I felt I was having a heart attack and was told I had social anxiety and was dismissed from the ER. I never sought help until July 2020 because I have been sad my whole life so I never thought it was any different until my body started to get attacked for real.
I could say that for the first month after taking my actual meds I felt okay. However during September I noticed that I was not able to relax whatsoever. I would be able to do all I needed to do and more during the day but I was wired. For the past week it got more stronger and last night I almost collapsed. I felt like every cell in my body was vibing with nervous energy and I tried to take a nap but I could NOT turn off. My eyes felt dry and I was hyperventilating and a dooming headache was pulsing on my temples. Then I remember whenever I felt depressed in college (WHICH WAS ALWAYS) I would take a scorching hot shower to get my mind off my emotional pain.
So I went to the bathroom and filled up the tub with hot water and dumped 3 cups of Epsom Salt and got in. As soon as I got into the tub, the vibration of anxiety STOPPED. PERIODT. I scrubbed myself and stayed in the tub for about 15 mins when I had the bright idea of exfoliating my skin with the actual granules of Epsom Salt, so I rubbed my whole body with the salt and something amazing happened! ALL OF MY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS STOPPED. And for the first time in NEVER I was able to see how my brain fucked up thoughts infiltrate me. Because when I close my eyes in the shower I always feel fear (of irrational demons and dark entities). But as I rinsed the salt from my face my eyes were closed, and when the these thoughts came I had the urge to open them but I did not open my eyes, because my rational mind devoid of anxiety spoke to me and said "why are you doing this to yourself? There is nothing to be afraid of. You are in your house, in your bathroom, by yourself, relax. These fears are not real, they are not YOU". I proceeded to stay in the shower cleansing my skin for 20 more minutes with my eyes closed and I felt love. And I washed myself and I remember feeling peace and not for one moment did I have an anxious thought that could not be dissolved by the clear voice of my real mind. And I felt like I was seeing my actual self for the first time and when I was done with the shower I felt safe and solid, nothing like I had felt before when I felt vulnerable and like a mass of wiggly nerves exposed to it all and attacked by it all.
So I wanted to understand what did this to me last night and I found out it was magnesium. I woke up today feeling just as calm and I slept well. So give magnesium a try. I found this video because I am trying to explain what was that holy experience that happened to me last night in that salt bath.
I am going to try and take a salt bath a least once a week and get a magnesium supplement. I understand now that I have a lot of negativity recorded in my memories and brain and maybe salt can help me cleanse my spirit. I just want to feel normal and live a fulfilling life. I hope this recount maybe can help someone else.

I’m not alone! Omg I’m not alone. Thank you for sharing your story. The exact symptoms you described happened to me 3 weeks ago and I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack only to be told I had a panic attack and there’s nothing physically wrongs with me. My family doesn’t really believe in anxiety so my panic attacks when I was younger were ignored. I always thought I was just a nervous kid and I would grow out of it. Nope! Not true! Anxiety has really crippled me to the point where it’s now affecting my work and relationships. I just bought some epson salt and will take a soak today. Hopefully it helps me relax.

@@jheanellpagon6437 Thank you for your comment Jheanelle. Buy the epsom salts but also set the mood and the intention. Get yourself a soap you like, do a bath bomb, light some candles and when you get into the tub massage your skin and give yourself love - YOU DESERVE IT and you NEED IT! Also take all the time you need with this. As you cleanse yourself think of anxiety leaving your body through your skin and going down the drain in the sods of the soap, forgive yourself for anything negative you think of about yourself, remember you are human and we have to make errors to learn and grow. Perfection is a myth. I hope this helps.
And as far as your family, they don't ever have to know if you choose to get treatment. I went ahead and told my mother and she still judged me but the way I let go of it is that my mom does not have a medical degree or actual medical experience, let alone in psychology. So if anybody comes at you think about that for a second - Does this person has medical training or substantial experience in medicine and psychology? Bottom line: My life is my own and I must do what I can to feel better and not suffer.
Something I've noticed over time is that it is our own family who put in our mind a lot of the ideas and beliefs that drive our anxiety. Some of them have anxiety and depression themselves but just have been taught to see "past it" but are really suffering and unwilling to get helped. It is kinda our responsibility to heal ourselves so that we can show them that there is another way and who knows maybe they will seek help. ☺

That brought a tear to my eye and 2) when you said that drugs mask symptoms without dealing with the root cause of the “illness” (I say “illness” because I now understand that anxiety is not an illness but an emotion that GAD/PTSD sufferers like myself face simply because our brains have become hardwired to feel in times when we aren’t in any actual danger). One thing which I would like to pick your brain on though is when you spoke about legal drugs. You said in your video that synthetic drugs are poisonous to the body. Agree, have to wade through the conservative garbage to get to anything useful. I agree that the top supplements needed in anxiety and depression are the B group vitamins and Magnesium. Also of very high priority is exercise or physical activity. Force yourself to get out and move and go for a walk or go to the gym. Include as many wholefoods as possible in your diet. Avoid sugary and processed food. Eat as much green foods as you can, alkalising your body. Make your bedroom sleep conducive , whatever that takes. Sleep is majorly important. Drink water ! Never underestimate the impact that simple clean water can have. Also shift your energy by going to a different town. Day trips, just getting out of your usual environment can shift your state of mind. Visit a herbalist, they have a much more Wholistic view on things and respect every person's sovereignty. Doctors ,whilst totally needed, are not always helpful with their dry conservative exalted viewpoints. St John's wort does not have similar side effects to Prozac. Not even comparable. Sorry but this woman is promoting drug companies wayyyy too much. Big big business and a tragic one.

Consider doing the following. I was able to resolve many of my mental and physical health issues by fixing my nutrition.
Consider getting a magnesium supplement from a good supplement store. I use magnesium bisglycinate 400mg a day - 3 tablets throughout the day, last one before bed - helps great with sleep.
There are great videos on magnesium and the 9 different forms you can take and which ones do what on the yt channels Dr. Eric Berg and Thomas deLauer.
Learn about nutrition and the various and correct forms of nutrients and essential nutrients to take from the really good educational science based UA-cam channels Dr. Eric Berg and Thomas deLauer.
I had many mental and physical health issues that I know were a direct result of malnutrition because when I researched / educated myself on nutrition, and then resolved and fixed my nutrition, almost all my symptoms went away. And they were significant.
If I let my nutrition go now or go for too long, I can feel the symptoms creep back in.
At the very least take a multivitamin (a whole foods based version if possible), and then, separately, 400 mg of magnesium bisglycinate daily, 5-10,000 iu of vit D3, vitamin K2, zinc piccolinate, vitamin c, potassium chloride 1500 mg, (I use cheap NuSalt salt substitute off the grocery shelf), and take all these with food and with some fat - as many of these nutrients are fat soluble - require fat to dissolve.
If you want to get extra fancy, put a couple shots of raw apple cider vinegar and lemon in water to drink before every meal to help digest the protein and fat in the meal and absorb the vitamins and minerals into the body.
If possible, add a Mediterranean diet, low in simple carbs and sugar, rich in fiber, compete protein, veggies, cruciferous veg, and healthy fats, like raw olive and avocado oil and omega 3s.
Add a good sleep schedule, and weight bearing excercise, cardio and stretching, Weights make a significant lasting positive difference in my brain chemistry that I can feel.
Add Emma's therapy courses free on this channel, meditation, and mindfulness, journaling and gratitude practices can help too.
And if you really want to, make raw, homemade sauerkraut. It's a probiotic with lots of real whole vitamin c. And it helps the gut create lots of the brain's feel good chemical, serotonin for the brain. The gut is where it mostly comes from. Just a big mason jar, sliced cabbage, sea salt and ferment for 7-14 days. Recipes on UA-cam.

Look it up on the internet white noise videos. There's different kinds so you have to pick what's good for you. An example would be a howling wind in a winter storm or a rain storm. I like the one that sounds like static electricity cause you don't have to focus on it, it just like blots everything out. Actually it's a cure for insomnia but it can be used to promote relaxation. They also cause anxiety as the body is trying to live with a foreign invader. They are also more active during certain phases of their life cycle that can lead to increases in anxiety and other psychological conditions. Also the symptoms of a tapeworm infection are identical to Celiac. Toxoplasma gondii are is linked to IBS & Crohn's. Thanks!

I believe this! I was a health nut and overate and got myself into a stomach bug. It was so bad, I thought it was man made. After that, my health went really downhill. I got ulcers and became precrohns. So after much research, I realized I needed a supplement to kill off the mould in my system. It was simply caprilic acid. Well, within a month I got my appetite back, put on the weight and the really funny thing was when I went to the Allergy Specialist, they couldn't even see the mould allergy on my skin patch test. Wild right? That originally was my big trigger. I say, it matters to get the proper assessment. My hospital originally lost the sample of my first parasite test. And then I thought nothing was wrong with me for over a year! At the end of my healing journey, because Crohns is not in my family or anything, I realized finally many foods that had added Canola in it, they are the worst! Seriously, here in Canada, we are going blind off of it. I have asked my Specialists to admit it. Because I am not intolerant to organic wheat but anything with these cheap breads with horrible seed oils, guess what? Straight to the washroom! I would like to make a social media to talk about it. I feel one day the truth is out- Canola/Soy/Cotton Oils and many oils are neurodegenerative and the labs all know it but do the people know it?

I noticed that St. John's Wort has positive effects when it is boiled over low heat for nine minutes.
Although I heard that St. St. John's Wort should be boiled for nine minutes, I drank St. John's Wort without boiling for a long time, but I did not see much effect.
Onion juice is incredibly gut and brain relaxing, but it is very difficult to drink onion juice.
Onion juice creates a feeling of nausea and distress.
But if you are patient after drinking onion juice, you will feel very relaxed after half an hour.
Onion juice can be less nauseating if you drink it with yogurt.
    Onions are in layers.
The intestines and brain are also in the form of layers.
Our gut is our second brain.
    Cabbage is also in layers.
This is my own personal experience.
For this reason, I cannot guarantee anything.
These days, I have some thoughts about taking a shower with cold water.
Cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure "rise", fats "increase" by growing in the body, diseases multiply by "spreading" in the body and can threaten life.
Fire multiplies and spreads by "rising" by its nature.
The movement of the fire flame is from the bottom up.
    Fire burns and destroys.
Diseases can be devastating if not controlled.
    "Water" puts out the fire.
    Fire gives "heat" and "heat".
The opposite of heat and heat is "cold" and "coolness".
The movement of water is from top to bottom.
    So the opposite of fire.
    Disease represents "fever" "heat" "destruction".
Just like the flame of fire spreading uncontrollably.
Illnesses are often the reward for sins.
Sin is identical with hell and the devil.
At least the suffering of illness does not belong to heaven because all suffering is in or reminds of hell.
"Cold water" can lower the spreading, rising, destructive cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, reduce body fat and cure or at least alleviate diseases.
(This is just an assumption. Cold water can shock the heart.
The truth is that cold water boosts the immune system, boosts metabolism and increases brown fat, which promotes fat burning. )
Plants growing below ground level, edible seeds, root crops are related to "down".
These plants and roots can represent our organs such as stomach, kidney, intestines, which are located "under" our body, or it can be a sign that it will lower "down" by lowering high blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar. Increasing, expanding body fat and diseases are included in this.
St. John's Wort may interact with medications.
I've heard that St. St. John's Wort will not interact with drugs if it is boiled and drunk in small amounts like tea.
Eating plenty of walnuts and almonds can be effective in depression.
Walnuts are similar in shape to the brain, lungs and intestines.
The gut is our second brain.
Nuts such as walnuts and almonds have thick and strong shells.
These strong shells protect the fatty tissue inside.
It is fatty in our brain.(omega 3)
Nuts can protect our brain and make it healthy.( walnuts and almonds)
    Almond shells are very hard.
I am not talking about American almonds, because the shells of American almonds are thin.
The holes on the almond shells resemble hair follicles.
The green shell of the almond is soft and velvety like the hair.
I liken walnuts to tortoises in shape.
    Land turtles live very long.
Land turtles are very resistant to starvation for long periods of time.
Walnuts can keep people full for a long time.
Land turtles withdraw into their shells.
In this way, tortoises are in the dark.
Darkness evokes the night, the night evokes sleep, and sleep evokes serenity and peace.
Walnuts increase the amount of melatonin in the blood three times.
Melotonin is essential for regular and good sleep.
The shells of tortoises are very hard, like almond shells, which are very hard.
Honey is dense and slow flowing.
    Honey can slow you down.
So honey can calm you down.
Bees collect pollen from flowers by flying in nature and come back to the hive.
Bees do not forget the location of their hives and they are very hardworking.
Honey can strengthen your memory and give you the peace of life in nature.
    Honey never spoils.
Honey can prevent your organs from deteriorating.
When honey comes together with walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts that represent organs, it can prevent the organs it represents from deteriorating.
Honey Walnut, Honey Hazelnut, Honey Almond...
I don't speak English. I hope I write the sentences clearly.

L-Theanine (#13) was added to Web MD about 2 years ago. I have been asking it for over 10 years.
It is also used to help folks when dealing with Insomnia, and also in some types of cancer. (It helps the Chemo, go into the cells where it's needed instead or running rampant).

    I continue to reason:
We feel peaceful while walking through a garden full of flowers.
Bees love flowers and produce honey that is very healing for us.
If watching the flowers gives us peace, the tea of the flowers can give us peace.
Flowers can be excellent resources for the treatment of depression.
Bees' source of honey should be our source.
Just like the creatures that drink water from the same fountain.
    Bees need flowers.
    Life cannot exist without bees.
Flowers are the life source of bees.
Flowers can be our source of life.
Just as honey is a source of life for our health.

    Emma!!
I see I wrote a comment here a year ago already. It must have been soon after that I began taking saffron extract capsules (25€ from a German company on Amazon) and I want to scream it from the rooftops that *IT REALLY HELPS!*
It is a LIFE- CHANGER! 30 mg a day is the golden amount, apparently. My anxiety AND my depressions are a thousand times better. I was a wreck and could barely stand up straight because my stomach was in such knots. My anxiety was so debilitating that I really wanted to die. I started taking saffron after reading about it; it took around four weeks to fully kick in (as with chemical anti-depressants) but I began to feel it already after a week.
I never had a single side effect! None!
Since then I've been telling as many people as possible. It's only sad that hardly anyone listens!
