we have to combine Neatvideo and your mavic pro noise profiles?
Hi ! I tried to take some videos recently after sunset, but once the mavic lost the focus, I was unable to re-find it. I tried it so long. Woud you have any idea or advice, how to make it well ?
Awesome :)
I just purchased a Mavic and your videos motivate me
Based Rudi thanks for the great words 🙏🏻
Wonder what it would look like if you dropped the blacks slightly
HBFilms good point however I did consider that but decided have some visual information in the darks. I guess a slight drop/black clipping could be good still. Thanks for the feedback
awesome video man well done.whats the name of the music?
I was a little bit disappointed with Mavic's 4K video quality until recently I found your channel and your footage. Mind blowing quality!!! Your videos are the best possible recommendation of this neat little drone. Brilliant work and really nice of you sharing the settings and details in comments. You should keep reminding people to ALWAYS set sharpness to +1 because otherwise (0 setting) Mavic does automatic noise reduction that results in random objects being blurred to death. Once again absolutely stunning footage! Huge fan!
clean sharp video! where is the technique please. I would not want to spend on drone upgrade, want to learn to use what I have and produce something great out of it.
this doesnt look like mavic pro footage..it looks like p4p
Martin Melo thanks for the compliment 🙏🏻
Martin Melo I'm still stunned at what quality that little camera puts out.
Definitely the mavic pro you can get awesome videos and photos if you no how set fly it and set up properly brilliant drone I absolutely love mine and the spark the spark does the flying in tight areas.
@@shawn3d Very impressive results if it actually is the Mavic Pro
I must say you are getting amazing looking cinematic footage out of the mavic. we would like to know what your camera settings are as far as sharpness contrast and chroma is concerned.
you're producing some of the best, if not the best DJI mavic footage from a cinematic image quality standpoint that we've seen yet.
keep up the good work.
D.
Got that BladeRunner music going or what! :P Superb Sir!
+MickakaMurph it sure does. Thank you for the feedback 👌
That looks really crisp to me. I've been a little scared to use d-log.
is this for fcpx?
jpalquisola absolutely. You can use them on many editing programs as well as different operating systems. Have used them on iPhone with the LumaFusion app. You getting them?
i am looking forward to get it. do you have tutorial for fcpx ?
If shoot in natural color mode or D-Log which one beteer to avoid noise,?
You have, without a doubt, the best Mavic Pro footage on UA-cam. I even find myself saying "no way that's a Mavic." Can you PLEASE share your camera settings/export settings? There are so many different thoughts, but your footage is far better than most.
Really well done sir. I'm working on low light night settings right now. I'm following all your recommendations, but I'm unsure at one point: so I lock the shutter at 1/25th, set the right wheel to control the ISO, now while flying I'm moving exposure up or down with that wheel staying between 400-100. Question is, is your best exposure around +/-0, or +1, or -1, or -2, etc? What over or under is giving you the best footage to work with? Thanks if you can help man. I'm almost there ☺
+lagrafx awesome question. Ok I don't think there is a specific answer to this however I know that I generally never try go over 0. Usually my exposure is from 0 to -1. If it's too dark and your exposure less than -1 then maybe it's still ok to go to -2 as your lowest. Rather try keep your ISO as low as possible at 100. Even going up to 200 or 400 will introduce grain which you don't want. So let's say for example you manage to get -1 or -2 exposure at ISO 400, then you're doing ok with that. The key is to try keep you ISO at 100 while trying to get a 0 to -1/-2(extreme lowest) exposure. Does this make sense? Will love to see your results :)
I've now tried +1, 0, 0 and got much better results but noticed when I applied the mavic dlog to rec709 LUT, I lost ALL the blacks. I'm going to try reshooting tonight at +1, -3, 0 and I'm sure that will help.
How long after blue hour (official blue hour ending) are you typically shooting?
Also, is there a preferred WB setting to shoot to give you the best footage to start from in editing?
Out of curiosity, shouldn't the shutter speed be double the frame rate you're shooting at? Why 25 and not 50?
It is more ideal to keep it at 50 however if the light is too low and want to keep iso down, then the better compromise is slowing the shutter. It occasionally adds a little bit too much motion blur however it definitely helps to keep the noise down. Also due to the camera not having any aperture, we cant always guarantee the shutter speed. We can only get close to the desired number to keep an accurate exposure that one requires
I find d-log to be quite muddy. Not sure if that sharpness at +1 helps it. Probably it holds up shooting cityscapes but with foliage it falls apart. This footage looks very nice tho.
Richard Simko which version of the firmware do you have installed? The more recent firmware updates improved the Dlog significantly. I find it best to shoot on +1 hands down
the very latest one, just upgraded yesterday. Granted I never went with the sharpness setting above 0. Might give it a try. But...if this is improved d-log I am not sure how bad the old version was. I am rookie when it comes to Mavic and aerial filming...so I have a ton to learn still.
Hey, amazing footage! What are your settings when your export in adobe premiere? do use use h264 or quicktime?
Nice. Is the Mavic camera better than the phantom 3 professional camera? And is it good at night time like twilight hour
From what I understand and I stand to be corrected as I don't have a P3P, the cameras are very similar maybe even slightly better than the P3P. Are you asking because you have a P3P?
BlueHouseFX yes I'm upgrading to a Mavic pro from a P3P
Nice guys, flew mine last night in blouberg for the sunset, crapped myself when i could get it back to me ;-)
Travelvids what happened?
somehow the home was about 500m away from my waypoint. in a north direction, i ended up walking until i could hear it :-(
really great quality work.
I can see you speeded it up a little +20%?
did you fly in sports mode?
Travelvids that's crazy that it was offset so much from the home point. Could you not see through the camera to fly to your point?
Travelvids also as for the speed up. Yes that was done in post. I usually speed up stuff so viewers keep interested and shows movement. Although my personal preference is to see the native speed and appreciate the actual shot for what it is :)
When speeding up footage, naturally the camera movement gets enhanced and at that point it's essential to film as steady as possible otherwise there would have to be some post stabilization
Really love what you are doing with the mavic! I hope to get as good!
mavic pro it is! this sealed the deal :D
+Eul Lacierda are you buying one after watching this video?
wait you had your shutter speed the same as your fps?
This is the second video I am watching from you and your skills are insane.
I'm a professional videographer and soon getting a Mavic to use for future projects - your shots are simply inspiring!
+Nico Collu thank you for your legendary comment. Means a lot when another professional makes a comment like this. Will be posting more shortly 😎
You deserve it! I've subbed to you and am awaiting more of your legendary footage!
+Nico Collu thank you 🙏🏻
what caught my eye was the detail and clarity in the images not so much the color.
DARRYL SMITH thanks man. The description will tell you everything. Hope it helps :)
Shutter Speed 25? I was wondering because of the 180 degree rule
+Peka Motion that's usually the case but my theory is to just keep it as close to 50 or 60 depending on the pal/ntsc setting. If it's low light and need that slower speed to prevent going up in ISO, then that's a far better trade off
Would u care to share some of the RAW material, like one of the darker sequences? :)
Sebelos something is on the way soon ;)
ProCinematicFX think I could get some too so I can practice color correction and grading? Still new to this and trying to get dope footage like this!! Keep the videos coming!
Can I ask why you chose 2.7K over 4K? Really great video!! I'm actually heading out in half hour to test the DLog for myself as it happens!
Your really good .... pls do some tutorials because i am getting a mavic soon and i want to get insane video like you ...
Hey Thomas, yes some tutorials are on the cards my friend :)
Awesome video ! May I ask what format / codec you rendered out the final video as ? Im trying to find the best render settings for UA-cam and yours is the best looking iv'e seen!
Thanks in advanced.
Really nicely done, just started shooting with mavic Pro. Any particular settings to use or change ?
Shutter speed only 25? Video is really smooth for just 25. What about fps, NTSC or PAL? Great vid!
+John S yeah it's better to follow the 180deg rule. Basically double the frame rate. I choose 25 for various reasons. For the most part the majority of the world works in 25P which is PAL. A big factor is also spreading compression over less frames which yields better quality. So in other words if the 2.7k is around 48mbs, it doesn't define the compression over frames but rather over time. So if it's 25 or 30 frames in a second, it's still 48mbs. So essentially it's better to work with 25p. Does this make sense?
But how does this look so smooth when the shutter is only 25? I shoot NTSC so this may be why I ask. Also, just ordered my mavic tonight and I am beyond pumped. I've wanted one for a few years now and finally pulled the trigger. This was my second viewing to one of your drone videos and so far they are amazing, keep it up.
Thats awesome man, congrats on the drone...You will absolutely love it. Are you experienced in any editing applications?
BlueHouseFX yea I've been filming/editing for a long time now. Most recently I've been using adobe premiere and a little bit of after effects. You can checkout my website www.davefaxonfilms.com
Why do you set fps and shutter speed at the same?
Where is the technique tho... I came thinking it was a tutorial
+Wyvern Apalis hello, it explains in the description and comments my friend 😎
WOW...I have been super disappointed with all the noise in my Mavic Footage, I have only run a couple of test flights so still do not know what I am doing yet, but this SUPER CLEAN footage has really made me optimistic about what can be achieved when you know what you are doing...I am guessing this has been run through a denoiser right?...
sorry...just saw your description...you used Neat Video...I have MB Denoiser which I clearly need to start using more...great work buddy!
Sebski22 yes use neat video rather. It's a far more superior and intelligent noise reduction plugin. Also shoot at dawn as the lights switch on where you can also keep your ISO as low as possible. Try not go over 400. Ideally 100 ISO is best with no filters. Then what you do is grade the footage darker while maintaining the bright areas such as lights etc. this will help get that night time look that's clean. Hope this helps buddy 👌😎
Awesome...thanks for the advice, will give this a try.
Sebski22 you're very welcome 🙏🏻
It's expensive for Davinci Resolve though isn't it? At $249 for the Open FX one, or $299 for the full version of DVR 14 including noise reduction, isn't it better to go for that? Or did you find a way to get Neat cheaper?
is that software only for mavic;? i have a ph4
+killercake90 the looks is designed for the Mavic however people have been been using them even for their other cameras. It means doing a bit more work on the basic color adjustments. I personally use them for my Panasonic GH4 for their unique looks. The P4 and Mavic have been known to have very similar cameras and dynamic range. So it should be very workable. If you decide to get them then please do show your before and after.... 👌
Wow amazing. I wish I can shoot like this for my channel one day. Thanks for sharing.
Got a Phantom 4 and I get such terrible noise in low light, I don't know how the mavic pro is doing such a good job ;-;
Bambam there is a tutorial on this channel explaining how it's done. Check it out and let me know if it helps 👌😎
ProCinematicFX Thanks for replying! I seen it and I'll give it a try soon, I did try to shoot in 2k and the 2 4k modes to compare them. They're all very very suddle differences but whether it's day or not the videos and pictures are slightly blurry. Have any idea why?
Bambam I'm going to state the obvious and that's to clean your lens properly. Also if you are using a filter then perhaps that can cause issues with sharpness. Cheap glass on top of your less can make images blurry. Clean the lens filter as well. Additionally make sure your focus settings are set properly. Maybe it's on manual and you have never locked focus as it might be close to the infinity plane. Also is your sharpness setting on 0 or less? Let me know buddy :)
I made sure to clean it and I have no filter. I tried switching from auto to manual as well. Well right now it's day time but I put sharpness +1 / -3 contrast / 0 saturation like you did though I assume that's for night time?
Bambam this is very unusual. Yes those settings you have are good. How blurry is your footage?
Dude! I was wonderin if you didn't have a video made with the gh4 with a guy and a girl and in the end he drives with motocycle?!
Peka Motion you have an amazing memory. The video needed to have proper audio done. It wasn't mixed well and I decided to take it off. I have spoken to my audio guy to sort it out however I haven't gotten round to sending him the audio elements. Also I'm in 2 minds about posting it as it doesn't really add value to people watching the channel. What's your thoughts? 😎
ProCinematicFX for real? That was one of the best UA-cam shortys I've seen for a while. I really would love to see it again on this channel.
I loved the sound, the emotions in the scenes (those romantic lovely scenes with that "couple"), the grading and the story.
Please reupload it so that others see that you have more to offer than amazing drone footage!
Man I have such a big fan of yours! Not only are your videos super but you are very kind in sharing details and helping people out answering question! Subbed :)
Great job. Is it at dawn? Just before sunrise? or sunset?
john kopsachilis yeah it is
Another amazing quality video. You really get the best out of the Mavic. I usually shoot in D-Cinelike but I'm going to give D-Log a go now. Why 2.7k rather than 4k? A lot of others have already said it, but you really need to do a proper tutorial on your set up and post production work. Don't be shy, just do it lol. Your views will go through the roof!
Yeah I am camera shy and thats the issue and time :/
I really got to buckle up and do this :)
Also D-Log is definitely the way
ProCinematicFX pick up a screen recording software and just do voice over. You don't owe us anything, but damn I wish you'd share your secrets lol. I love my Mavic, but I want to get footage like this.
Bobby Sammarco I'll do it 👌😎 have to. Thanks for the screen recording tip
just go shoot in golden hour you'll get footage like this
Your work here is incredible! I was frustrated with my Mavic footage but I think I have to study post production even harder now. Could I ask you a question? Do you denoise the footage before grading, render it, import it again and then render the footage? Or do you grade it and then use neat video? Would help me a lot! :)
Wow where is this ?
What a stunning video. It reminds me of the opening scene from Blade Runner, as does the music. What is this track, out of curiosity?
Why do you recommend 25 frames p/ second, instead of 30?
Kenny Meyer all compression happens over 1 second time frame. So if you see in technical descriptions that a camera shoots 60mb/s. That means regardless of how many frames there are, it will compress at 60mb/s. So the more frames there are, the more compression there is on each frame. I typically see this heavy compression on slow motion footage. So the less frames per second the better. Hope this makes sense :)
Excellent!
This is why i love cape town best magic footage out here on youtube well done guys!
Nice, but where is the technique? I was thinking it would be a tutorial or advice from the title
Hey Doxie, The technique is in the description which explains how to achieve the results. Hope this helps :)
duh me. Well, I'll just facepalm now. Thanks!
Doxie Lain I totally get why you would think that :)
Actually a few people have said the same thing and it may be good to elaborate on this with a proper tutorial explaining the process. Your thoughts?
has somebody got de neat video plug in for fcpx? it's almost imposible to find it out :(
do you use automatic o manual the camera?
Claudio Donoso manual. Read the description for the settings my friend ;)
there is a neat video plugin for davinci resolve?
Yes there is :)
ProCine, epic! Getting a Mavic on Saturday, will definitely try this over the Mother City!
Have fun and fly safe ok :)
If you're new to flying your drone, I would suggest practicing a lot in open areas
ProCinematicFX , I've been flying for a while now, with the Phantom 4, downsizing to the Mavic to be able to take in crazy spots 😜
TheWalkingPhoto is the channel on which I post a couple video adventures, in and around the Cape :)
Hello! 🎥
Rudolph de Girardier amazing. Will love to see :)
Does the luts works on adobe premier?
trixisalive yes they work brilliantly in premiere. You use them in the lumetri effect panel. Are you getting them?
Yes i am interested. Which pack did u buy?
trixisalive I have the combo pack. There is a great variety to choose from. Highly recommended and they offering a limited time extra 3rd pack in the combo deal. Really good value
Nice work! But I am missing the Tyrell Company :)
beautiful scenery!
+Tony LaPron thank you very much my friend. Appreciate the comment 👌
Leran me how to do this, i will pay you.
Love the sound track. Where do you get them from for all your vids?
what city is that?
What city is that? BTW beautiful footage, one of the best I've seen online.
what the city bro ?
Yep bro, very cool view
It would be nice if youd make a tutorial
+Alex Neckel yes I must. Hopefully soon when there is a gap to do one 😎
This is really the best low light quality ive seen. Well done! Did you figured out yourself how to edit the videos?
+Alex Neckel to answer your question. Yes I figured it out myself my friend :)
BlueHouseFX That means you have a very good feeling for colors etc and a lot of patience. You definitely deserve a follow
Well done, sir!
+Alex Neckel thank you so much
Stolen footage?
Jesse Adrian Not at all. What makes you think that? :)
Looks great!
Thank you :)
Where was this shot?
OK to all of you wondering. I did a 10 minute research to find out this is Cape Town, South Africa. Call me motherfucking Sherlock.
Magnificent quality
Thank you so much my friend. Glad you could join and comment :)
ProCinematicFX You are welcome. Love your content and Cape Town looks even more fabulous on your videos. Couldn't figure out what editing software do you use. I use Lightroom and PhS. Wanna get SpectrumGrades but not sure which is the best software to use it on. BTW does it work on Sony Vegas? Would be happiest man if you could answer my questions. Thanks in advance :)
Бездуховная гейропа I use premiere pro, it is amazing
Tzak L I got Adobe Premier, Sony Vegas 17, After Effects, Photoshop cc18
just earned subscriber ;)
Well it is not really night. But good job.
Quite right, that's why I said "low light" ;)
Low enough light that the cars have the head lights on at least.
almost got me .....and a purchase
