Thanks for the video. The five minute fix did the trick. I did watch the entire video and you really simplified the fuse replacement process if needed. I have the exact model you have. Thanks again for saving me a service call at a minimum.
Turning the breaker off for 5 minutes worked this time! We have had this Kitchen Aid microwave/oven unit for 10 years now. This has been an ongoing problem with this model. Once every year or two we have this problem. Just long enough that I forget how we fixed it the last time! Thanks for the video.
Have this exact model oven/microwave combo. I already tried the breaker procedure - no luck. My codes come up intermittently - sometimes they show up and neither appliance will work. Sometimes it's only on the microwave and the oven will work. Sometimes after pushing OFF, then CANCEL - error message goes away but comes right back, sometimes just comes back on one or not at all til later. And, then when I leave error messages showing as I go to bed, they are gone in the morning and both are working fine. Makes it a bit difficult to plan a meal. I won't be able to pull that thing out myself, service call I s'pose is in order unless I can get someone to help? But, this was THE MOST informative and you explained everything so well (even about how to get circuit breaker to off position ~ that I can do! ) Thanks a bunch!
You're welcome! It is a heavy appliance and not easy to get out alone. To me it sounds like one of the circuit boards in your unit has an intermittent connection which is why it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. It won't be easy to find this problem. A service call may be in your future if you don'tt want to take the time to troubleshoor it. Good luck in whatever you decide!
Thank you for post this video, my husband and I were able to fix the fuse and our kitchen aid unit is up and running again. I canceled the repair technician and saved $$$ . 😍
I just finished mine. I have the exact same one as you. I used my multi meter and I had to replace the big fat fuse not the small one. Be careful. I dropped my fat fuse inside and it took me a long time to get it out. I couldn't even get through the diagnostic because it just kept spitting out the same error constantly. I had the error on the microwave side and the oven side. I think this needs a helper. This oven is heavy! It's definitely more than 100 pounds Thanks again ! You helped me and my whole family. Now we have an oven again. You never know how much you miss a microwave until it's gone
Thank you for this post! Saved me time and money by doing it myself. Followed your instructions, had to replace the fuse and now working great! Hardest part was getting the oven out without damaging the wall around. Thank you!
I just have fixed it. I was having exact same problem but mine was back normal after off the switch!! Thank you so much!! I am very happy! You made my day🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for your reply. I did get to check both codes and they are not identical (which don't think they would be, but neither show spzeo's so fuses must be okay. Yes, think it's a connectivity problem - think it popped up after some power outages. Turning off breaker didn't help. Might be a wiring harness - that's above and beyond Mty capabilities but having to get the oven out to get to the spec's - not fair! Thanks again!
Same error code but it is a convection oven of the same brand, the digital clock that shows time even goes backwards, sometimes even ahead all by itself intermittently or after every breaker flip. Thank you very much for the video anyway dear How To With James!
Had the same problem with same unit. However, you only have to pull the oven out ~4” to get to the control panel screws in order to remove the panel to get to the 2nd fuse shown in the video. Once removed, the fuse is easily accessible. I replaced the fuse and everything worked. $5 part
Hi James, thanks for posting. I got this error right after I cycled power to the oven while trying to identify which breaker in my breaker box controlled what appliance. Had me worried for a minute. Then cycled power again, leaving the breaker off for one full minute before turning it back on. Having done this, the error reset, disaster diverted. Thanks again.
Great video. My issue is a little different, I would get the same communication error infrequently but it always resolved itself. Now my controls work (oven or microwave will turn on) however nothing on the display lights up. Checked the fuse per your video and both are good. Looking for next steps for troubleshooting what I have going on. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a ton. I may give this a shot. For the continuity test using your meter can you say what settings you chose on the multimeter? UPDATE. Found bad fuse and replaced. Powered up and first use of microwave blew fuse instantly. Now looking into door switches… all three switches working fine. Crud!
I would suggest getting out the schematic that was inside the unit. There are troubleshooting steps they walk you through that could help. Sorry i can't be more help but that is where i would start.
@@HowToWithJames oh I had that schematic out a bunch! Even testing those components I could manage to test. Microwave is working now. Required a new inverter -the part just before the magnetron. I went and picked up the inverter and installed - was by far the easiest part to replace. Now the whole thing is working again.
Thanks for a very informative video. I have the same exact oven and I have 2 problems and no error codes come up. The first is that the microwave oven comes on but does not heat food. I don't know how to troubleshoot that problem. The second is that on the lower oven the Convection/Bake button allows us to make all the selections but when you push start the temperature setting goes away and nothing happens. All the rest of the soft keys work. Thanks for any information you might have.

Apparently when opening the door the condensation from cooking enters the bottom on the control panel. Considering the upgrade pkg with these ovens on our new construction and saw this issue frequently. Thanks!

The difference between a 125 V fuse and a 250 V fuse means that if the fuse is “open” that it would take more than 250 V to jump the gap(the open)that’s the difference. FYI
The KitchenAid in wall microwave which cost me $1300 10 yrs ago has 3 control boards. 2 boards are no longer available. The parts department did say I might be able to find the parts on Ebay or somewhere online.

Hi James, you mentioned you changed the magnetron on this unit. I think I have the same problem with no Microwave heat but everything else works fine including crisp and convection. Is that magnetron tough to get at? Was there a test to see if it was in fact the magnetron?
