Might have gotten a great deal!! I'll try to remember to report back! Thanks for the video man! Seriously these types of videos save real people real money dude!
Just wanted to give a shout out to Apartment Maintenance Pro for posting this video. My hubby and I have a Whirlpool range and the cooling fan went out. We were fortunate to receive the replacement part in about a week. We live remote, so calling a repairman isn't really an option for us. This video really helped us get this part changed out. And frankly, I'm kind of glad this happened because we were forced to pull it out and clean everything up. OBTW, it works just like new! So happy to have my oven back in working order!!
Excellent video showing exactly how to repair this error code. I ordered the part from Amazon for $65 and completed the entire repair in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommend watching this video if you get error code F8E0. Top notch.
I wanted to get on here and thank you so much for making this video. You probably saved me $500 or more. I have a Kenmore branded Maytag downdraft radiant heat range that through that code. Luckily for me, your UA-cam video popped up in my search online to figure out what the code was for. After watching the video I decided that it would be easy enough to order the part and do it myself with a little help from my wife. 1 hour and 27 minutes later, we had completed the task and everything worked just like new, so that you very much!
Pro tip for Canadian Viewers; the Screw heads also fit a Red Robertson, the superior tool choice. Unfortunately, my replacement fan still displays the error code after a brief run. Circuit board looked clean and all connections made. Will investigate more tomorrow, but after seeing the condition and how poorly made this unit is, I'm likely going to junk this Whirlpool POS and upgrade. Thanks for posting a clear and easy to follow video and through examination of the Sensor unit.
There is another post where a guy had the same issue and went and cleared the internal codes and it worked fine. I recommend finding the post if you haven’t pitched the stove. It was like pressing cancel 3 times and then 1. I can’t remember exactly and recommend you check his post.
@@mrfrankbosh I kept the unit, and just used a large Toaster oven while I procrastinate buying a replacement. With your recommendation, I found some instructions, but likely not the one you are referring to...I think it has been removed, it was some guy not speaking and confusing everyone by pressing some of the buttons out of camera range. But I did a control reset and it still failed. But after a 60 sec power cycle and then running the fan test a few times, the fan went from really quiet and undetectable to quite loud. I did test run and the oven heated up to 35F and seems to be fixed. Fan kicks in at 170F, and it got quieter during the oven cool down period and finally stopped after it reached its shutoff temp. I'll open up the unit tomorrow and investigate why the fan is noisy, but I think I'm up and running. Thanks for the prompt...I'll figure out something to do with the $3k I just saved 😁
@@jbp4.0 so the comment was in the comments of this video. To reach the service menu press cancel cancel start….. then use the 3 or the 6 to scroll up or down through the menus. Till you get to the reset. He also had a recommendation to remove the fan and open each end and spray cleaner and then lubricate with a few drops of “3-N-1” oil. Clean the Hall effect sensor (board in the cap) and reassemble. Other people said to make sure to glue the foam rubber seal as it helps with the air flow reading if it is tight to the stove. I have yet to try these things but they sound well sound. I did use the cancel cancel start on my electric stove and it worked like a charm. Best of luck.

This was a great help. So, I have a different model, but it was similar enough to fix the issue (perhaps temporarily). I removed the side panel on mine instead of lifting the plate with the gas line housing. I filed the plastic around the end of the fan to expose more of the metal (it had been warped over time). One thing I did notice was that the foam that seals the fan vent from the fan was lifting, so there was no longer a full seal. It occurred to me that this may cause the sensor to detect less speed, even though the fan and sensor are working fine. I glued it back, and it appears to have worked. It went up to 450, and no error code.
Thanks for sharing this info. I just removed my motor and found the same thing. I already bought the replacement fan linked above, but my replacement didn't come with the foam. Is the foam necessary? & what kind of adhesive should be used? Wondering if you or Apartment Maintenance Pro has any advice...
Awesome Video! Thank you for sharing it. The range was under warranty so I went with that process. Tech came, diagnosed the issue, then ordered the fan delivered to my home. It arrived on time but service was delayed. So I put it in myself with your help!! If this has already been mentioned, my apologies. But the foam seal may not re-stick after removal from the old fan. I used scotch 2-way tape and trimmed it to fit.
@@toddwiseman1421 It’s been some time since I did that job and I don’t entirely remember. Since it’s a fan, it may be to direct airflow more efficiently due to the way the metal fabrication is assembled. Perhaps even suppress vibration. But I think it is the former.
Fantastic video. We were able to easily replace the fan motor using the instructions provided in this video. Thanks for posting this guide…it was a huge help!
Video was great! I have a whirlpool/maytag model with an electric range on top. Only extra thing I needed to do was remove all six of the screws from the stove top to allow more workspace without putting any tension on the electrical wiring.
I like to use an empty egg carton to keep screws removed in order. Works well for engine rebuilds also. I write on the lid if I need to record additional information.
I wanted to add my 2 cents that, for me, the RPM of the fan itself wasnt meeting spec. The hall effect sensor was fine but the bronze bushing was dry and no longer had lubrication. You can remove the end cap opposite to the hall effect sensor and, within the cap, there will be a bronze bushing. Clean the bushing out, as well as the male shaft of the fan, lubricate the bushing with a couple dabs of 3-in-1 oil or similar. Also lubricate the bearings closer at the other end, closer to the hall effect sensor. Spin the fan manually several times to work the oil in. Re-assemble and all should be fine. FYI, you can access the service menu on these units by pressing Cancel, Cancel, Start ... then press 3 to cycle through the service menu options. In there you can clear codes and I believe see the RPM of the blower fan.
Thank You! Thank you! Thank You! I replaced the fan and sensor and it gave me the same damn error code. I was about to give up until I saw your comment about going through the menu. I cleared the error code and it seems to be working now. Thank You!
I have an IKEA (made by Whirlpool) electric range with this same F8E0 error code. Same experience... fan wasn't spinning fast enough, bronze bushing was gummed up. A little cleaning and light machine oil and back in business. I am suspicious that this is the actual source of a lot of these failures and not the hall effect sensor.
