Then we pool up money and buy him a new cherry mx brown switch keyboard with shit smeared on both the alt keys.
I've had this keyboard for a few weeks now and it's great! No complaints really. They didn't set up the carrying case as a stand correctly. You're meant to angle it the way they did but you can snap the strap to the underside so it's actually really sturdy. Edit: That being said, it's not perfect and there are some things that could be improved but aren't issues for me. The characters on the keys aren't all perfectly center or the same size (only noticeable if I'm looking for it) and the keyboard gets a little weird with typing sometimes when using the wireless dongle. Using it wired or over Bluetooth is just fine for me though. NuPhy has plans to release software to customize some of the lighting effects and key binds soon too.
Is the carrying case magnetic at the bottom or is it the indent guides and that's it? They already have the 4 magnets for the feet on the keyboard, would make sense to make the case magnetic as well...
@@utspish The case is magnetic as well. They're really only strong enough to help you align the keyboard and will disconnect if you lift the keyboard off of the case.
Honestly counting on who this keyboard is targeted for, I feel it's targeted for the average Joe who's still new to keebs but honestly, this is the best way not to get beaten down to the ground by the custom keyboard community. Perhaps they might be surprised and recommend to see if you can mod the keyboard to be "better" . Hot swappable is a big plus but counts if the better premium switches can go into that board. $100 for starter board is great and you can choose to dive into the mess of the custom keyboard hole. Problem is how much will you spend for what you truly want? That's where spending $500 is good and then spending $5,000 is a sign you went too deep but atleast got your ultimate board.

For me, it's exactly what I've been wanting as I don't like the appearance of any other mechanical keyboards I've seen nearly as much. That's obviously totally subjective though
@@thegreatbeavers It's more that it's one of the few low-profile mechanical keyboards than 'for newbs'. Normal profile ones are fine and all, but you really need a wristrest for them, which also makes them even less portable.
I think is subjective , for me as a transition from a laptop to desktop pc , I rly can;t go with the normal mechanical keyboard - even back in the old days I was buying HP or Logitec those low profile slim minimalistic design ! - I think is more about the preferences - but most of this days I see the marketing plays a big role specially when it come to gaming and teenagers have this sheep mentality that they need to have the keyboard is advertised for gamers ...usually u pay for the Brand and not for the quality of the product ! in the end I rly dont care what others think or like - is just what I like !

Second the "nice on the bottom" thing. I'd totally go for a graphics card which was doesn't care about looks (but still does about cost, performance and quality). What's the point if I'm not even looking at the PC most of the time, and when I do it's from up top where I don't see the fan shroud?

Placed my order 10/9 and just got mine today 11/15. I bought the one with the brown switches and I’m loving it so far. The foldable case is a nice touch. Totally worth the wait! I didn’t like the black cable either so I ended up buying the white coiled cable from Glorious and it definitely fits better aesthetically.
I do like that keyboard has dedicated Home/End/PgUp/PgDn. So many low profile keyboards ommit these important keys and force you do use multiple keys to get that functionality.
I bought this keyboard because of the design, the color scheme is just gorgeous, but this 75% layout is not my cup of tea. Once they bring out a full layout version with numpad and with ISO keycaps, I'll definitely buy that one as well.
i doubt they would release a full layout version, since nuphy is marketed as a portable keyboard for use on laptop. The only laptops that still use full size layout are prolly gaming/15 inch laptops

You really wouldn’t be able to see your colourful switches anyway because they won’t have the correct pin layout. Low profiles can only be swapped with other specific low profiles and there really aren’t many colourful ones.

This is not a great review. Missed the 2 dedicated buttons, unique top LED’s that can show battery life, totally glazed over Bluetooth and RF dongle, the feet slip off easily and don’t fit in the provided case. Second keycap set *is* different, not the same.

Another good option for low profile mechanical keyboard is the Fnatic Streak65. Same price, similar layout (but no dedicated function key row), no wireless, but it is backlit. The switches are a nice typing experience as long as you are used to short actuation and low weight, but its focus is definitely gaming.
I ordered one last week, but sadly I don't even have a tracking number yet after 6 days. The website said it's supposed to ship within 1-3 days..... I sent them an email with no answer yet. I also ordered a keychron K1 a while ago, everything went as it was described on their site. I hope this NuPhy is a serious company and will deliver a good product.
Looking at their website, the waifu part is practically just a graphic sprinkles on the box. I couldn't find it anywhere except on photos from people reviewing the keyboard.

I ordered one last week, but sadly I don't even have a tracking number yet after 6 days. The website said it's supposed to ship within 1-3 days..... I sent them an email with no answer yet. I also ordered a keychron K1 a while ago, everything went as it was described on their site. I hope this NuPhy is a serious company and will deliver a good product.
Looking at their website, the waifu part is practically just a graphic sprinkles on the box. I couldn't find it anywhere except on photos from people reviewing the keyboard.
