No one wants to champion Bambu Labs but anyone that owns one i bet still loves the output they create for the price they paid. A1 with ams for £289 regardless of their policy is a phenomenal bang for buck.
Problem is, bambu's are overpriced and outdated these days, at least their coreXY printers are. They cost as much as a prusa, while lacking the customer support, QC and reliability and built quality that you get with a prusa. They're competing with other china made printers and the other manufactures are making better printers for cheaper.
Regardless of their policy?...That's the policy meaning it's no better than the shitty Canon ink printers thattry force you into subscriptions for your ink and stopped third party inks working properly.
You can use the Bambulab printers without an account or internet connection, they have a micro sd slot and you can still use other slicers. I know it's popular to hate on them, but lets keep the facts straight.

Perfect timing! After what Bambu has changed recently with their printers, I am looking for a replacement for my A1 and wanted a enclosed printer as well. Not sure what the price is but if it is about the same as the X1 Carbon, I hope people will choose this over Bambu Lab. 3D printing community needs to put their money where their mouth is if they are against what Bambu Lab has done recently. I do wish these printers came with a gigabit ethernet port though.
People are indeed choosing prusa over bambu lab. I mean they're choosing anyone over bambu lab now. Many bambu refugees are jumping ship and switching brands. Nobody is recommending them anymore.
Too little, too late. I started with Prusa and struggled with quality switching to the X1C. That has drastically changed with experience using the X1. I can't go back to Prusa until they meet or beat the advanced filament options Bambu has done so well with and the hardware (nozzles, etc) to go with it.
Sadly it has just too many points of inconvenience. -flexible top plate (can't put much on top of it) -plastic one-time use rivets(??) to hold the top plate -no connector where you feed in filament (no connector for additional Tpfe tube for a dryer) -camera just sends still image every 10 seconds -switching the side of the hinges for the front door is a pain if you receive it pre-assembled -build plate takes long to reach "high" temperatures
Definitely some baffling choices. I guess the camera is slow since they don't have raspberry pi or equivalent there to prosess images. I also love the AC heat bed my new printer has as that doesn't need a power supply and is pretty fast. I know I would make alot of changes to Core one if I had one. I had Prusa MK2S (kinda still have but not much is left of the original printer). I was considering Prusa for a new machine as well but I seriously hate customizing Marlin so I went with something that has Klipper as a default.
Significantly better than the CF rods and bronze bushings in the bambu's too. Both of my X1C's wore out their CF rods within 1k hrs and I had to pay like $200 to replace both of them. with the X axis assembly sets.
My main issue with Prusa is that you're paying a premium for what feels like an unfinished and unrefined product. While I get that it has value as a platform that can be easily modded and upgraded, I feel like these features should result in a cost savings, not a premium. This is the first product I've seen from Prusa that seems more refined, and while it seems to have some issues on that front, it seems to be movement in the right direction. I like the idea of being able to print replacement parts, but if I'm paying a premium, I expect that the original new parts are not 3d printed, or if they are, they are extremely high quality.
prusa is a joke within the 3d printing community as the "apple" of the 3d printerworld that refuses to innovate youre right though, imagine paying that much money for a printer and it has printed parts on it, it's actually inuslting
some parts inside are actually printed, I think its carbon fiber or ASA or something high tech. It gives them a way to torture the printers for thousands of hours
I totally agree with you, Prusa must abandon romanticism and build printers without precarious printed components, without kits to assemble which only create problems for customer support, wasting time and money for the company, personally I don't like the Nextruder, it is problematic with poor quality filaments which in any case must and can be used without problems by cheaper printers, before having an efficient and silent printer I had to disassemble and reassemble the extruder several times, the Prusa world is still too artisanal and is now outdated from decidedly more practical and efficient competitors
If a prusa is an unrefined product, then what does that make a bambu P1P? You pay a premium for prusa because you get premium quality that comes with their name. You get the class leading customer support, QC, reliability, build quality, transparency and repairability. You get the long term support and security of not being locked out of features one randome day becasue the company just decided so (like bambu lab).
I'd be interested to see how it compares to the Creality K1c, I would imagine that the Prusa is more reliable but would be interested to know if there are significant differences in quality and speed, especially as the K1c can be found on deal for like £400. It should also be gaining compatibility with the CFS soon, but Prusas do look nice
I know it's not really their focus, but I'd love to see a 3D printer showdown between the top flagship CoreXY printers from Creality, Bambu Labs, and Prusa.
@@michaelbaker2718 I feel like the K1c isnt talked about in the community enough, or the K1se. I know that the launch of the original K1 and K1 max had many issues, but I know people with X1cs, Prusa XLs, BBL A1s and it feels like they all perform at such a high level in terms of speed and quality that the main differentiating factor is the profile that the user uses. Whilst the X1c and Prusa XL undoubtedly fantastic printers, for many use cases I find them to perform similarly to my K1c (excluding obviously build size and multi colour)
As a Bambu X1C owner, Bambu's recent actions have made me question whether I want to remain in that ecosystem when it comes time for my next printer, not because it affects me, but mainly the principle of the decisions they're making. I'm glad to see Prusa come out with the Core One. I really hope Prusa will refine their MMU system a bit before that time comes though, one thing that really shines with Bambu is the AMS system with how compact and modular it is allowing for up to 4 units or 16 filaments.
The XL is only needed if you need big volume or want the most efficiant multi color printing available on the market. A MK4s/core one with serve you better.
I have this nifty SanDisk USB thumb stick that has both USB-C and USB-A connectors. So I can transfer files between a Mac and a computer without USB-C no problem.
Wish Prusa could make a printer that's a bit cheaper and easier to buy at scale, such as people just starting or even schools. BambuLab still has the market and while Prusa has better quality, the higher price makes it unattainable for many.
I would be highly interested in a 3D Printer secret shopper! I recently purchased both a Prusa XL and a Bambu X1C. Unfortunately, both had issues. While Bambu swiftly replaced their unit, my experience with Prusa has been frustrating. It's been three months of back-and-forth emails and receiving replacement parts that don't resolve the problem. They’re extremely reluctant to accept the printer for a factory repair or replacement, while suggesting I am trying to enrich myself with replacement parts. Given that I paid nearly four times as much for the Prusa machine, I'm hesitant to buy from them again. And now that Bambulab turned out to be another Evil Corp. I just don't know what to recommend anymore for a completely painless experience. I'm just looking for a printer to print parts for my voron with, not another project.
Aside from all the well deserved anger directed at Bambu, how fast is it compared to the X1C? Seems like going slow there are still some quality issues and ringing.
Are they still using the ESP01 ESP8266 module ? That one is quite sensitive to stable 3V3 and metal near the antenna. I have helped them in the past with some firmware issues. Back then it appeared that reducing the TX power did make the WiFi much more stable. This is often an indication the antenna is badly tuned and/or gets a lot of reflections from nearby metal. N.B. unstable 3V3 also can result in badly tuned antenna parameters, so best to start the WiFi a bit later if the power needs some time to stabilize.
I recently bought a Bambulab P1S, but I would rather not have it and have this insted. I wasn't a fan of Chinese policies, but I thought Bambulab might be different. However, with these new controversies and how they handled the situation and tried to gaslight everyone, I am really thinking of selling mine.
I like the fact that Prusa still has updates to older machines. I have a MK3S+ and I can buy a 3.5 kit or 4 kit to upgrade it to the new 4S. Unlike other brands (I’m looking at you Creality) where they release a printer and then just abandon it a year or two down the road
I would still prefer my cheap Bambu A1...cheaper, easier to use and probably as fast as this. As an European I would prefer to buy the Prusa, but the price is insane and still feels to much DIY.
Of course they release one now. I've been holding out to get xy printer for over a year. Finally caved and got bambulab p1s ...and not 2 months later Prusa launches this. Eeh.
i had a mk3s and now 2 p1s, i'm not a Bambu fanboy but i don't get that "repairable" thing everybody tolk's about, if u break omething on their websit you can rebuild basically thje entire printer.... what happen if Prusa spareparts goes out of stock ? (like in the past for some specific parts) you have to check for aftermarket parts wich can cause issue or just be more expensive. IMHO spare parts wise the are the same.
Nah, normal people/hobbiest can't afford this when you can get a more budget friendly Core XY for $299 InfiMech, or (estimated $499)Elegoo Carbon. So if you are rich as hell sure buy this but for the other 99% of us there's always Flashforge and Bambu
At the moment yes, they are working on making it work as an rtsp camera in the future so you can access the steam locally. But also the camera isn't needed for operation and having it to monitor the print only makes sense if you can access the stream from anywhere which means cloud platform or you need to vpn into your network.
With all due respect to Prusa and what they did to 3D printing, I completely don't see the point. How does it compare to the market right now against reality and/or bamboo? And at this price range, sorry I don't understand for who this was made for
It is only made for the fans at this point. Even 2.5 years later they are still behind the X1C and now with every brand coming up with capable machines they are it seems they keep milking the same userbase.
You do use a smooth plate for more materials. You do want to use like a gluestick with materials that arent like PLA, just to make sure it won't be damage.
Its interesting to see the quality of prints from prusas core xy printers out of the box. I'd be expecting better from prusa to be honest, I've got a couple of Vorons that are fairly stock & they print nicer and faster. Im unsure why they didn't lean more into taking ideas out of the ratrig/voron projects.
@@riba2233 Its unfortunate, Sovols SV08 or whatever its called is basically a mass produced voron, they could easily have done the same & changed what they needed to to keep the 'Prusa' feel. They'd have gotten a more reliable, just as easy to fix printer.
I was about 3 more remembering it exists before I bought a Bamboo A1/A1 mini. Then all this online shit happened. Is there a good enough and cheap enough alternative? The multi colour thing isn't a huge draw, so not necessary. But the price, the ease, the size of it was perfect for me as a beginner. Kinda bummed tbh.
Man the build quality is still utter shit. That vent on top 5:13 looks like some drunk intern cut it out by hand. The print quality is also utter shit 16:19. Yea no, Bambu still wins, even if they are locked down.
I know Prusa first hand. I am from Czech and long time ago before Prusa went big I met him few times. From what i experienced as well as heard from other people in business he is egomaniac in a pretty bad way which funny since later on he proceed to build his brand solely focused on his person. I was sort of his kin over 10 years ago. He was acting very hostile and insincere. Presenting reprap 3d printers opensource community as a huge benefit to the public and media. But being angry and hostile when other people such as myslef host events teaching people about reprap printers. I wish there was a better path to the top than this fakery.
The build plate dimensions are so weird. Come on they need to be 310x310x310. Looking at a Bambu X1C and this printer and it's really lacking in size. But then you have all the Bambu nonsense to deal with. Ugh.
for the price i would have exected a larger build volume and hight hot end temp, I guess people are just paying for the name and the so called open-ness about it

N.B. unstable 3V3 also can result in badly tuned antenna parameters, so best to start the WiFi a bit later if the power needs some time to stabilize.
I recently bought a Bambulab P1S, but I would rather not have it and have this insted. I wasn't a fan of Chinese policies, but I thought Bambulab might be different. However, with these new controversies and how they handled the situation and tried to gaslight everyone, I am really thinking of selling mine.
Don't, it's still a great machine and you can still do anything you need to with it.
so basically, they could just have sent the empty box
You don’t need a filament dryer for pla
I would rather wait for Bambu's next gen printers. My Bambu A1 had been impeccable, I will not be buying a Prusa anytime soon.
Can you show how dose the mmu3 works with the core one.
I know you as the BMW M5 guy.
what i want to know is how come you didn't use the JerryRig knife he sent a while back lol
1:57 hear, there's the nut for the screw
I like the fact that Prusa still has updates to older machines. I have a MK3S+ and I can buy a 3.5 kit or 4 kit to upgrade it to the new 4S. Unlike other brands (I’m looking at you Creality) where they release a printer and then just abandon it a year or two down the road
Lowers go brrrrr 😂
8:56 is it just me being blind or the "red" looks more like Orange
Jake!! Why not Jerry Rig Everything knife was used to open a box?
I would still prefer my cheap Bambu A1...cheaper, easier to use and probably as fast as this. As an European I would prefer to buy the Prusa, but the price is insane and still feels to much DIY.
Ubiquity Fairy seams accurate to me xD
Of course they release one now. I've been holding out to get xy printer for over a year. Finally caved and got bambulab p1s ...and not 2 months later Prusa launches this. Eeh.
It's about $2,000 CAD with shipping to Canada not including duties. The Bambu p1s + ams is $1,200 CAD
if you actually want it, Prusa is building a new factory in the US, so that might lower shipping
Holy cow, that's unreasonable honestly haha
Are you surprised that a chinese made printer that's backed by the ccp is cheaper than a EU/USA made printer?
Please be good I can't be seen supporting Bambu rn😭
There are other better options
Its a prusa, even if it's not good you give them 6 months and it will work
That's just a certain as their product launches not going amazing
It's a prusa, prusa and excellence belong in the same sentence, unlike bambu lab
@@LilApe nice cope, prusa is far from perfect, it's just overpriced and worse than bambu.
Bambu employee entered the chat
Isn’t that the ubiquiti fairy?
i had a mk3s and now 2 p1s, i'm not a Bambu fanboy but i don't get that "repairable" thing everybody tolk's about, if u break omething on their websit you can rebuild basically thje entire printer.... what happen if Prusa spareparts goes out of stock ? (like in the past for some specific parts) you have to check for aftermarket parts wich can cause issue or just be more expensive. IMHO spare parts wise the are the same.
Nah, normal people/hobbiest can't afford this when you can get a more budget friendly Core XY for $299 InfiMech, or (estimated $499)Elegoo Carbon.
So if you are rich as hell sure buy this but for the other 99% of us there's always Flashforge and Bambu
@7:43 doesn't the add-on camera require you to connect it to the internet, use Prusa Connect & be cloud tied?
It does, and it also works poorly 😊
At the moment yes, they are working on making it work as an rtsp camera in the future so you can access the steam locally.
But also the camera isn't needed for operation and having it to monitor the print only makes sense if you can access the stream from anywhere which means cloud platform or you need to vpn into your network.
@@Pixelplanet5 other companies that sell their printer for much cheaper have all of this sorted out already.
And Bambu Studio doesn't need to be logged in, it does when you want to use cloud stuff obviously. LMG just flat out lying for their sponsor.
In the uk I can get a p1S with 2 ams for the price of a core one :(
I can also just use the SD card in my bambu and load ready to print files on it and print them without needing internet or an account ... wtf
12:54 is this just a regular typec plug and play camera? is it compatible with klipper firmware? I would gladly buy it for this price!
AFAIK it only uses type-c for power.
@@No0o0o0o0o0 yep, nailed it.
You do use a smooth plate for more materials. You do want to use like a gluestick with materials that arent like PLA, just to make sure it won't be damage.
This is good 😀
Thanks, I was hoping you would make a video about this! Prusa
Because of josefs egoism
@@riba2233 Its unfortunate, Sovols SV08 or whatever its called is basically a mass produced voron, they could easily have done the same & changed what they needed to to keep the 'Prusa' feel. They'd have gotten a more reliable, just as easy to fix printer.
that ! is cool tech ! not wifi or 5G
Yep, qidi q1 pro. Flashforge is also not bad
Ist there some drama with bamboo?
Much overblown
Yep, I am not from Czechia and I can see that he is an egomaniac from a mile. Too bad, since the company had so much potential.
The build plate dimensions are so weird. Come on they need to be 310x310x310. Looking at a Bambu X1C and this printer and it's really lacking in size. But then you have all the Bambu nonsense to deal with. Ugh.
Sheesh that price is a big oof, thanks for the video Jake!
for the price i would have exected a larger build volume and hight hot end temp, I guess people are just paying for the name and the so called open-ness about it
Absolutely, and it is not even fully open
LTT should really do a review of the Flashforge 5m, it's less than $300, prints fast with high quality and has been the best selling 3d printer on Amazon for months.
Vessis suck. Not durable, and my socks were most definitely wet on a number of occasions. They also aren't priced well considering their build quality. Cannot recommend
God damn thats expensive
Ill stick to Bambu they send gummy bears to just the best ones Albanese,
impecable timing? I bought a bambu lab 2 days ago lmfao
