@@dadbodbikers to me, that is the idea. Interstates are for when you plan to drive instead of fly somewhere. Motorcycles are all about the ride. So interstates should only be when there is no place else to ride (like some parts here in the desert southwest).

I assume it's stock gearing hit 73mph, you would got shocked if a ZS 190cc would overtook you. With 17-32 sprocket it can max 85mph, maybe more without head wind
Took my vitacci titan 250cc on hwy run,,,got it up to 77 mph,,,all stock except for new spark plug, air filter over air box, tmap sensor,,,re gaged plug from .030 to .070...got her to 82mph ...shes at 125 miles total. Holding up great, no she wasn't red line doing so, can't wait to see after break in 300.
i have the kpr 200. in 6th gear i think i can get 75 tucked in real good but ive lost wait this winter season lmao maybe i can get 80 out of her now. best 3k ive spent
Wish it was able to go just a little faster. 70 to 75 might be plenty enough for everywhere else but not here. In town the freeway speed is 65 out of town it's 80..... But with all the California's that arriving here, you could be doing a 100 miles an hour and it doesn't seem to matter, you'll stll be getting passed by someone. The average speed in the 65 mile an hour zone is closer to about 80 and average is over a 100 mile an hour zones.... Unless of course it's rush hour and then we're going like 4.5-12 mph. So only being able to do 72-75 top end you would be pretty well be screwed..
Ya honestly if you're looking for something to cruise up above 80mph then this isn't the bike for it. Even if you modified the bike slightly to make it run that speed you have no wind protections and dual sport tires. I'd suggest a street bike (cruiser or sportbike).
If I bought something like this to go ride I would have to get down the freeway about 10 or 15 miles teen miles. Or or I could take a 1- 1.5 hour detour through the back roads to get where I need to go... But heck once you wrote that far you don't almost be tired out be tired out and not wanna ride on the trails.
@@airdreams1 freeway isn't fun on any dual sport.. you have no wind protection regardless of whether the bike can run 70+. I'd get a used cruiser if you're using a bike to commute.

Apparently Lifan makes a 400cc Twin adventure bike with all the cases and attachment stuff for I think $5K ish? Another chinese bike that might be interesting is the Voge SDX 525 cc twins.. several versions.. not sure the distribution chain is up to snuff yet. Japan and Europe both have competition!

How often do you need to do valve maintenance for these? One of the things that deters me from buying one of the cheaper ones is I’ve heard you have to check/adjust every 1000 miles or so
This is def a step up from the Hawk 250 I have...you have a true 249cc as apposed to my 229cc and you have 6 speeds. I can cruise at 70mph but the vibration I experience anywhere above 6000 rpms is annoying as hell. I would love to have just one more gear to go to but I guess that's the reason the Lifan is twice the price of the Hawk.
Hello sir my name is Joe and I live in El Paso TX I have a Chinese 250cc cruiser my title says it's a madami and I've researched it and comes up as a Lifan. I need parts specifically break resivour, break line, caliper and break pad. I also need clutch lever and clutch cable. Living in El Paso NO ONE has been able to help and I really like my bike. Can you help me with sites with whom I can order these parts it would mean the world to me. Thank you for your time and help
After seeing the welds on these bikes I wouldn’t take mine on anything but country roads. Even then I look it over quite frequently for lose bolts and cracks.
I guess we've had good luck with ours.. beat them up pretty good and done a bunch of road trips and not so much as a hairline crack in any of the welds. I guess their booger welds are holding for now :)
In that video, the red/white bike has a 14tooth front sprocket change.. didn't really change anything except lowering the revs at high speed and extending 1st gear. I did it as an experiment in our group of five bikes.. I don't think any of the other guys are going to bother with it. Once some power adders come out for this bike, it may become a more useful mod.. but this thing runs out of power at 75+mph no matter what the rpm.
Lot of folks don't realize that.. My XT250 with a tooth less on the front didn't suffer a loss of highway speed.. just more rpms. At that speed and/or even a slight grade, the lack of hp really shows.. These smaller bikes really aren't mean for 4 lane highways... Less weight is a great asset in the woods/trails..

@@matthatter93 I found that my top speed didn't really change after the sprocket, which leads me to believe the bike is gear properly and not limited by gearing, but by horsepower. It still might make 1st more comfortable for cruising on a trail, but just a preference at that point. These aren't like the hawk/tbr7s that were very limited by their gearing.

Easy maintence 1 cylinder.. easy valve adjust, easy oil change. If you are looking to take the bike somewhere to have it maintained($$$) , I doubt that you'd be shopping this price bracket.

I bought a KPM for $3k just for this reason. No Stealership to fight with, easy to work on, built reliable, fun to ride... Etc. I have a couple shops close by that will work with me on the Lifan, and getting parts from Venom seems fairly painless. The only problems with these bikes is top speeds and the question of parts availability in 5 years. Everything else is better.
@Rob Luce I agree.. the stealer ships are there but you can get the bike bought and registered without ever having to see them. The parts are becoming more and more available and technically the dealer support is there if you need it.

It's definitely doable. We spend a lot of time on 55mph highways.. that's where it's more comfortable at than the 70mph interstates.

Lifan makes the best chinese bikes hands down. The KPX is built with quality.
I have the KYM Cafe bike and it is sweeeeet.
Love the cafe racer, thought about getting one just for the street but the kpx has been my street bike also :)

I really wish they would stick that engine into a dual-sport or import the KPT 200 adventure style bike.
I still like my Toa Toa 250 might be a little slower but for $1600 new it was a steal for what Ive put her through.

6th Gear probably helped a lot on the highway
Having a 6th gear helps yes.. it's a great cruising gear and feels really comfy around 60mph.
75 mph on the freeway, not to bad for a 250 cc from China! Perfect for putting around town and playing up on the trails and mountain views ride

Probably could've been pinned longer.. but it didn't have much left in it. 6th gear runs for two miles left it at 75-76mph

When your purchase.. after 1000 miles.. and maybe every 2k after that. They won't change much.. most important is doing valves at purchase

Valve adjustments are easy on most bikes especially the cheap ones! Tons of videos taking step by step

This is also counter balanced, so that vibration isn't there. And it's fuel injected :)

I’ve never had to change a sprocket on a bike. When switching this to a 14 tooth did you have to change the chain too?
No, not with just the front sprocket change. Depends on the bike and chain length as to whether you would need to change it.

You can get a chain breaking tool at Harbor Freight and buy an aftermarket master link to change the length.

It will go a bit faster once the motor is broken in.
We've put a few thousand miles on them, no huge change, maybe 1 extra mph on the top end.
