Back in 2006 I bought a new Lifan LF200 GY 5 dualsport from a local B&M dealer. It is now 2023 and I still ride this bike. It has been bulletproof never a problem. I would recommend a Lifan to anyone.
thx for the video. being 6'2", bike size is an issue and the kpx i don't think will be too small for me. your video helped convince me the kpx is legit and the way to go.
I'm 6'3 or 6'2 depending on which convenience store I'm leaving and it fits right. My buddies who are 6'0 actually think it's too tall. If you have a dealer nearby you can sit on one. We have one here in the Atlanta area that has them assembled.
@@dadbodbikers nah there isn't a dealer near me unfortunately, closest is a few hours away in socal, there isn't another chinabike as tall as this one, so I'm sure it'll work fine. my main concern is always bikes being too short for me, as most seem to be these days. thanks for the feedback for sure. can't wait to get one.
It's perfect for that! A few of my buddies I ride with are using this and the TBR7 as their first bikes.. low cost to start up and you don't feel bad if you don't ride much because you don't have 10k tied up in a paperweight in the garage :) Enjoy!
Do you feel the need to change the sprocket on the kpx250? Around 70% of my riding is on the street and I feel like the gearing is too short, specially 1st and 2nd. I wouldn't mind a little higher top speed either. Other than that, I'm loving mine so far.
It wille extend first and second.. but you won't get higher top speed. I posted a video of me on the interstate next to a stock kpx and we both top out around 76mph.
Other than the fuel injection I don't see many other improvements from the regular hawk. It is cheaper than the Lifan but we got these for the quality also.. everything just seems to be builtwith better parts.
@@dadbodbikers i do think the lifan is a much better bike. A few upgrads to note is the DLX does have better front forks, counter balanced engine, ontop of the fuel injection. But everything else is the same as a regular hawk.
@@auskip07 gotcha. I didn't know they went counterbalanced. That makes a difference. I don't think it's a bad choice.. although I might just go with the carbureted hawk if imt trying to stay on a lower budget.. or the templar or tbr7.
Do you think there is something that can be done to combat the vibrations from going through the whole bike on the TBR7? Maybe some polymer engine mounts that are custom?
The problem is that it's a non counterbalanced engine so while grips and stuff may lessen the vibration.. it willa always be much more evident than on the counterbalanced engine like the kpx. There are cheaper alternatives for counterbalanced engines.. I believe the brozz 250 recon is counterbalanced but closer to the tbr7/hawk price point.
Are all the mods easy enough a mechanically inclined individual could mod out the tbr7 im looking for a 250 just to ride around town and to take hunting
Very much so. I knew very little about motorcycle mechanic work before taking on the TBR7 a few years ago. The first mods are bolt ons not requiring any custom work (new car, new front sprocket, grips, etc). You can go way overboard and get a larger displacement cylinderhead and do some wild stuff but I'd just buy a different bike by then. As far as the kpx, it doesn't really require any modding, so even better and more reliable, but at twice the price.
Nah you can make the tbr7 or the kpx work at 5'8... but if it's your first bike, I'd find a way to lower it, or practice on a different bike. It's a lot easier to ride a tall bike once you have motorcycles figured out.. it's hard to learn when you can't flat foot the bike.
Ya once it's tuned right it's nice, but we literally didn't have to tinker at all on these. Our previous carb'd bikes had a month or so of adjusting to get them perfect.
Sure! It's still more tame than most bikes, dual sport capable, drops easy without damaging anything, and is cheap. However, if you're under 5'7 you'll find the bike to be tall. Then you may want to try the Lifan xpect.
@@engineering_overload4372 tried them all.. the kpx is the best by far.. I'd take a hawk DLX over the xpect in that price range but go kpx if you can afford it.
As a brand new rider myself and owner of an xpect I will say if the kpx was available when I got mine I would've gone that route but I absolutely love my xpect and it has treated me very well so far, any one of these bikes will help you learn to ride and learn to tinker with the basics, and in my opinion the scale goes Tbr7 < Hawk 250< lifan xpect< Hawk DLX< lifan kpx Bashan and Templar fall into there somewhere as well but I'm not sure where
Crazy everyone of my carbed bikes and quads do not need the choke on to start because they are tuned right you shouldn't have to use the choke if the carb is tuned right unless it is very cold out......

Good video. I was just about to do a KPX250 and Hawk 250 comparison video. lol The KPX is definitely a much better bike. 👍
You should still, easy content and you may point out some different stuff than I did coming from a hawk.
@@dadbodbikers I'm still planning on it. I want to make a video before I sell the Hawk.

Good job. Nice comparison
i loved my tbr7
We still have one in our group and it won't die.. perfect starter bike!
My bad got my company mixed up yes it a Chinese product.
what's the top speed on the kpx
~75mph without any mods
Both look good
They do look great even up against much more expensive bikes.
I GOT THE TAOTAO TBR7 HAD TO UPRADE THE CARB THE SPOCKRT
$3k he overpaid... They're 1,700 or so brand new.. 2k with after market upgrades
The Lifan kpx250 is 3k.. it's not a tbr7 or hawk. It's fuel injected and 6 speed. The tbr7 was 1400.

That requires some pretty good tuning.. most guys I see that have no problem starting without choke have a pilot circuit that's too rich.
In ohio, in winter you need a choke.
