At 0:31 lol, there is something wrong with this comparison? Your right, on this video I can see more stars on the LG C3 OLED TV, but I’m watching this video on a 50 inch Samsung QLED Q60C tv. 😂🤣😂
The thing i found about brightness is that if your TV is too bright (like the QN90), you can always turn it down. If your TV isn't bright enough, there's nothing you can do to make it brighter
I dont care for these bright ass tvs...oled is plenty bright as i have blackout curtains behind the tv. Makes my tv pop more. Retina searing & blownout highlights & off color is terrible. I used to be a samsung head i went Oled couldnt go back
Definitely. I have the QN90C and keep it on 35 brightness when watching in the evening/night, with active tone mapping on. This way I can turn it up during the day or even during the night when certain movies are very dark (which is a lot of them these days).
Thanks K G, agree that you have to choose your trade off, if you prefer perfect blacks then trade in overall brighter picture; if you want a brighter picture then trade in perfect blacks, no right or wrong choose what you want.
After 2yrs of deliberating I ended up buying an OLED and I have to be honest I was quite disappointed in the end. Yes the dark room viewing experience is unparalleled but coming from a Sony LCD with 1000nits full screen brightness, the LG just seemed so dull in comparison. I'll be looking at the QDLEDs next year for sure.
What OLED model did you buy? We’re contemplating on a 48” C3. We have a bright living room with windows behind the tv and floor to ceiling glass windows on the side.
@@hastensavoir7782 That would be a terrible decision to buy OLED for a bright room. The details in black are very hard to resolve on OLED (black crush) unless you have a dark room. Did you go ahead with the purchase?
@@tonyzeno2715 I ended up getting a great deal on a Sony A90K 48" OLED, very happy. The room is fairly dim even in the daytime. I wasn't happy with the HDR blooming from the Qn90c... MiniLED productivity monitors are best for HDR but TVs have much lower specs, just aren't quite there yet.
Saw these 2 side by side in a store. 48 inch c3 and 50 inch qn90c. As the demo video cycled through sports, movie, animation etc the c3 was better every time. Also the qn90c had terrible viewing angles. Moving just slightly off centre and the picture immediately started to look washed out. Bought the c3. At first I was disappointed that the picture seemed quite dim until i switched off auto pixel brightness and wow! As bright as you could ever want.
I just want to put this here, don’t trust anyone who says modern oled’s wont have burn in. They will, they just happen to be less than a year old and don’t have that opportunity unless being heavily used for gaming (stagnant things like a minimap will 100% cause burn in). Next, remember due to OLED nature, it will also dim and lose saturation over time even if you don’t use it. Organic things break down, and there isn’t much you can do about it. If you want to have an OLED for all that it offers above specifically nano led tech, be prepared to buy a new one every 3-5 years with very little resale value, or your tv will be worse than almost all LED TV’s, not even nano ones. That’s the OLED tax, being replaced.
This was one of the best comparisons of the two technologies (QLED and OLED). You can really see the differences in different conditions. I'm torn on which one to use. Love how colors just pop when scenes are dark on OLED, but the C3 (OLED) isn't nearly as bright as the QN90C in bright scenes (QLED). Leaning on the QN90C for general purpose (both PC productivity as well as gaming).
I own both of these tvs and I wish my C3 was brighter like an LED in specific scenes like in the movie Dune. I have learned to use the contrast enhancer to punch OLED up a bit and it really helps out with highlight areas without wrecking the picture to me personally. But scenes that have a lot of black with stark color contrast the qled is not touching the oled. Both are great tvs in truth.
This is why I really enjoy your videos KG...you really hit the mark. Oled vs Led..always the big question. But you answer it for me everytime. On this video I appreciate the beauty of oled, but I personally am drawn to the brighter full screen scenes. I just like what led brings to certain images.
Hi KG, would you mind to add in a set of scenes for your upcoming oled vs mini led? 1) White background with different black font, grey font, static with various size for 3 sec. 2) Put a few lines of color bar vertically from left to right. Will there be any color/brightness change on the fonts? 3) Black background with different white font, grey font. 4) Put a few lines of color bar vertically from left to right. 5) A sudden change of timing with random fonts of white background to black background. A demo films is calculated to hide the bads and show the goods, with this, its easy to see if the content is being artificial dims, brightness changed, and color lost.
@@SidorovichJr Ye all youtubers said that but they change tv-s every 6-12 months, do u rly think S95B can hold up for around 4-5 years? S95C maybe.. Every LG oled can, but dno about S95B.
Is oled really that dim or is your camera setting not in line with what you’re actually seeing? My CX gets blindingly bright at times. Rarely do I find it dimmer compared to my macbook pro m1 pro screen.
It’s not dim it’s just the difference in some of the brighter scenes, the OLED can’t match bright LCDs in those scenes so the camera doesn’t do it justice when exposure automatically adjusts
If you have a living room with lots of windows or bright room, Mini LED qn90 is the winner, but if you have a controled dark room OLED is fantastic. I bought sony A80 77" Oled, big problem with my bright room, I couldn't see the image, so I returned it and bought SS qn85a 85", big difference.
Hi KG, thanks for the video. I’m not sure what the Nits on both are, but they go back and forth as far as which one is brighter. Typically LED are but C3 has its moments. Do you think Q90C and compete with QN90B??
This is the first year I am personally saying C series beats the 90 series overall, the processing changes made to the C3 to keep the perceived brightness higher is a bigger deal than I thought it would be.
Totally agree, i had oled and they are just not bright enough, and the constant worry of burn in always playing on your mind, and your lucky burn in doesn't happen screen retention definitely will. I suggest to anyone mini led NOW, micro led in 7 years.
@@VeteranGamer_ This is why after agonising for months over OLED vs mini led, I am going mini LED. The final straw was seeing what happened - after only 700 hours - to that widescreen 21:9 Dell OLED that Rtings tested with 16:9 content (so black bars left and right). It had permanent burn-in due to the black bars. And black bars are something I will always have since 95% of my content is either 4:3 (about 50%) or 1.85:1 - 2.4:1 (about 45%). Only 5% would actually fill a 16:9 screen properly.
QN90C has better skin tone and colors in general. The only problem is blooming. Wheras C3 have many problems: ABL, ASBL, very low SDR brightness in gaming, and risk of burn in. I'd rather have the QN90C. Blooming isnt that bad in person when compared to these youtube videos and you wont notice it much without the side by side.
@prettyboiiartistic lol 🤡 I have the QN90B in front of me but QN90C is not much of an upgrade so I'll stick with it. And I dont notice that much blooming at all. Brightness is superb even in SDR! I've seen an LG C2 OLED beside the QN90B when I purchased it and I didnt like the lack of brightness of the OLED. It shows that the pattern remains the same with QN90C vs C3. 🤡
It does not have better skin tones. Lg is more precise, if calibrated it will be way better. On Samsung everything is overbrightened and oversaturated and the skin looks like glowing, very fake looking and distracting
@Vladislav Matiusenco 11:27 well for me better skin tone is not looking like a ghost. LG skin tone looks so pale in comparison to samsung so just shut up
@@Sejuani89 Qn90B is glowy and for you to put opinion on something that you have no proof of and hilarious cus I have seen both and your info not accurate
On the QN90C Movie mode has Local Dimming set to Standard by default. I have switched that to High and some bright highlights have dropped, but also white backgrounds and colors are quite darker. To my eye it looks like the Standard option makes everything too bright and un-natural (I'm just looking at my Apple TV app launcher and comparing the colors on the app icons like UA-cam, Netflix with what I know they should be or what they are on my phone). Also, high local dimming reduces blooming so I would rather have this than very bright highlights. But what I don't understand is why Standard and High look exactly the same when active tone mapping is off (or in FMM). Any thoughts on that?
On youtube we can't get a real sense of the images, but as soon as we see the Oled's in person we don't want anything else. I particularly prefer the LG OLED.
Oled is for sure better, but only for a specific time window. As long as you replace your OLED tv every 3-5 years, they’re amazing. Unfortunately, even without taking burn in into consideration, the organic material breaks down in OLED, diminishing color sharpness. You won’t notice it in person because it’s such a slow process until you put a new tv beside it.
I don't understand why the C3 looks so dimmed down, especially when gaming. I have an older OLED (E6) but with OLED Lightness set at 100 its so damn bright, very different compared to some of the comparisons here, more like the VIVID mode, although I don't even use that one. Also the new OLED's can go brighter than mine so I just don't understand. Then another thing I noticed, the image on the C3 looks way sharper. Almost like 4K vs 1090P. Is this purely a camera or angle issue here, or is the QN90C seriously this blurry!?
With all 4 tvs comparison at the end, each tv has it moments where it is better than the others. Factor in price and viewing conditions and the tvs upsides and downsides. I like Samsung qnqleds, but is the qn90b better than the qn90c for blooming and contrast ? I did see the blooming on the qn90c. If the qn90b is better, let me know, because to me, the prices on the qn95c are going to be too high , if the qn90c is inferior to this year's qn90b, let me know, I will get one before they're gone. OLEDS and QDOLEDS seem like they are too complicated to deal with and I watch TV in a bright room during the day and in a very dark room at night which a qnqled is suited for both.
I'm currently deciding between a qn95c 75 inch and an lgc3 77 inch. Mini led or Oled. Never had either technology. Currently using a Samsung q85r 65 inch full array qled from 2019.
The C3 has a more precise image in my opinion, a cleaner image, that makes the QN90C look by comparison just a little bit blurry, for example around 10:38 to 10:42.
Nice comparison but it does feel like the S90C is making the QN90 series redundant (barring supplies issues) given that they are essentially are the same price at the current moment. It will be hard for either of these tv's to compete with it. I'm curious going forward what happens to the QN90 series? Does Samsung aggressively discount it or is their room for innovation?
It's a good point. The SDR should be better on LEDs but now they've apparently nerfed the specular highlights even more the qdoled is equal there too. Dse is terrible on these mini LEDs too.
It seems like the QN QLEDS are being downgraded in favor of oleds and qd oleds, but the oleds still need to get brighter and end burnin once and for all. I am waiting for the QN QLED 95C ,possibly be the best and last of the best QN QLEDS. I don't consider Hisense mini leds until they have much better processors.
@@charlesmyers8150 if you want the best led I'd probably say the Sony x95k, it should be a reasonable price by now. From my experience, although I prefer the Samsung motif, it's local dimming is sometimes too aggressive, especially in gaming. I'd rather just live with a slight extra bloom personally. I had and really liked the QN 95a and I know it was rated higher than the Sony but the local dimming issues were just too much sometime and it was miles cheaper than the Sony at the time, like nearly half the price
You haven’t mentioned reflections on the screen. We have a LG OLED 55 C2 and the window reflections are awful. I understand LG have recently introduced an anti glare coating to the screen of certain models but are unsure which. I believe the Samsung 55 QN90C also has an anti glare coating. Is this correct?
Does the fact that the QN90C doesnt support dolby vision makes a noticeable difference when watching hdr content? Would love to see hdr10 content on the samsung compared to dv on an lg.
I would argue that the QN90C is a better living room tv, especially for streaming services, whereas if you have an actual Blu-ray player and entertainment system, the OLED will shine. It’s very use case.
I use my 43" 90c as a monitor and whenever I leave for an 1.5 hours or more the tv doesn't recognize that my computer is on. I then have to restart the computer so the tv gets that handshake. Now I just do a remote reset by holding down the power button for 5 seconds and that tells the tv that the computer is on. I have all the right 2.1 HDMI cords and all screen savers are off for the TV/Computer. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Will it hurt the tv if I do the remote reset a couple of times a day?
Hey KG, Could you maybe share your video settings for the QLED, online I’ve read that movie is the best but it seams a bit yellowish to me, but in all the other settings red becomes almost pink sometimes. I have a qn800c.
I currently have the Sony X85J and Sony X85K because they are flicker free. I need flicker free because of eye strain/headaches. I would love to upgrade to the Samsung S95B/C or Sony A95K or LG G3 or Samsung QN95C. Are any of these new 2022/2023 models flicker free?
I’m using the Samsung AU8000 43” from 2021 lmao and it looks pretty good. I like how sharp it is but guess it’s a normal tv. Is the C3 like a better normal tv?
@@Adin100 Nah thats just a popular narrative said by people who never compared it to anything else in gaming or don't know care about gaming so they take the short cut in saying what the popular opinion is. LG game mode especially this year is really incomplete in comparison and with picture quality in mind its worse than the competition.
I think OLED got to the point where PQ is just perfect (at least perfect enough for me), especially QD-OLED. The only thing I care about is how resistant to burn in new models can be.
Appreciate your skintone comparison. If a tv can't get skin tones right in one of its accurate modes, what's the point of buying it? I mean it has one job...and if tv manufacturers can't get that right at the factory then what are they doing?
If you turn brightness down it will get sharper, that’s bleeding that’s distorting the image. It’s noticeable in person, but much less so than in the camera due to how cameras filter in the light.
is oled better now (vs say 3yrs ago) on handling darker scenes? crushed black I believe is the term? I don't mind the peak brightness, but losing the details on darker scenes is what I don't like really
@@grantorino9049 I'm specifically thinking of going OLED because of that and the fact that content these days is so dark, the better the dark detail the better overall.
Do the 2023 Neo QLEDs still have a broken GAME mode? Unfortunately I brought a 2021 QN95 and game mode is broken. Colours get washed out in dark scenes and it’s never been fixed. Steering well clear of Samsung until I know it’s not an issue in newer models.
This is excellent for people like me torn between the two technologies. Can anyone advise if I were to adopt a C3 / C4 OLED and watch 4:3 content only ever in a pitch black environment (so the brightness can be significantly lowered) would I need to be concerned with black bar burn in?
Black bar pixels are off, therefore they do not encour the risk of burn in. Oled is actually recommended to watch that type of content because the black bars are a part of the tv that has been turned off, instead of the really dark grey an LCD shows in place of the black bars, granted the mini led FALD is better than most LCDs in that regard. You do however want to make sure what settings are the best for FALD in your use case, since, as said in the videos, game mode, for example, doesn't take advantage of the complete full array local dimming capabilities of the tv
If you get an 85” tv, you might want to consider 8k, pixel saturation gets diminished when the TV’s get so large. Definitely look at them in person, at comparable distances from tv that it will be in your house.
I have LG B9 oled, oled is unbeatable. But after 3 years, the tv has burn-in problem. I guess the G2 and later version should be last longer, panel not that heat compare with my B9. Anyway, I will select back to QLed now for longer life cycle. If QLEd or OLed, depends on your lifestyle, if you don’t mind to keep upgrade your TV, OLED. If you buy tv when your old one can’t use, I prefer you buy regular LED.
Moreover, compare with Samsung/sony’s RGB and LG’s WRGB of Oled, LG burn in should be lower chance to happen. You can check rting to learn more before make decision. I saw some electronic store that keep turn on the tv, can see burn-in problem even that model launched less than 1 year.
It would be really helpful if you could compare the 42\43 inch versions, as these are more likely to be used for gaming or as a monitor. I think Samsung have stuck with the VA panel on the QN90C. I would be keen to know if the ghosting problem that plagued last year's model has been reduced or fixed. Plus it would be good to see if the C3 has any noticeable improvement at the smaller screen size, seeing as they are also using the same panel as last year. Thanks 🙂
Yo KG I have a dark living room I play a lot of video games and do alot and streaming. what the best all around 85 incn tv is the 900b any good I have a 65 I nch and really want a bigger tv and is 8k any good when playing games and how much better is the S95C THEN THE 900B PICTURE Wise or is the qn95b or 95c
How is the S90c for watching football! I'm leaning towards buying my first oled TV. I'm worried about burn in, with the logo's or the ticker at the bottom of the screen while watching football. Please kindly advise me, thank you.
Oled looks a million times better, but still has serious issues with combustion and lifespan. I would personally choose an lcd panel. However, if you have an extra $1,000 to spend every two years, you can select Oled.
@Makoto I bought a C1 evo panel after the last price drops. And I using that for bedroom. Looking good. But its useless for living room cause living room get to much sunlight. I using QN90B for living room. So far so good. And you are wrong my last lcd tv before QN90B 11 years living. It's in the summer apartment right now. Continues to serve. The only thing missing from it hdmi 2.1 120hz. If we think about oled technology, by nature 5 years after organic diodes loses too much brightness. And it becomes almost useless. But I don't care right now cause I bought my oled tv only 499$.
The standard warranty should be 3 years. At least in my country you can buy the C3 48" for 1400$ with 6 year warranty that covers even screen burn in. With only 3 year warranty it's 250$ cheaper.
You should buy an extended 5 year warranty every time you buy a TV anyway regardless if it’s an OLED or an LCD panel so it literally doesn’t matter as the warranty will cover burn in
Damnnn the Samsung look better when you were comparing the pictures ! I had my mind set on oled also. I think Samsung is the way . I’ll be using it for games . Ps5 mostly . Movies and tv on the side
Im between the QN90C and the S90C for mainly gaming and Netflix/Regular TV watching. While I dont rhink I watch too many dark games/movies/TV......im well aware of the blooming that occurs with miniLED sets. Is the S90C close in brightness of the QN90C??
Yes S90C looks very close in brightness in most scenes, but the really bright scenes will still stand out more than the S90C if next to eachother, you can't go wrong with either but I would say S90C is the better overall TV.
@@TechWithKGFor 55" and price, do you think the S90C is worth it for an Xbox Series X even though it might have burn-in over time compared to thr QN90C?
Be very wary of OLED for games. Due to stagnant things like the HUD or minimap, and gaming’s naturally long sessions, burn in will happen. Burn in isn’t actually that bad if it’s the only game you play, since the burn in will be covered by the actual image, but if you play a large variety, it’ll get to you fast.
@ryanu.4953 with gaming you're good either OLED unlike when watching news or sports. OLED is the best for gaming, you can't get better with Neo QLED or QLEDs. You can't
care to share your experience with qn95c? i'm contemplating C3 vs QN95c, i know OLEDS have the micro contrast and deep blacks but how does qn95c stack up to it?
I will compensate for my OLED's dimness on a bright screen with no blooming. I like to have more sharp images than images with bloom. Imo OLEDs are the best you can get. It's better to watch a bright movie on a QLED than an OLED as the intensity in colors is better.
is it possible to mirror the 2nd screen on the side by sides so the like colors appear next to each other? by the time my eyes match up the image has changed. great very detailed video.
More dimming zones and higher peak brightness maybe but I haven’t seen it yet and early impressions from others seem to be that it might be hard to justify the price difference for most people.

Yes they came out and replaced my screen being that it was under warranty still when it had gotten a defect so you can definitely depend on them for there factory warranties. They handled everything very professional and replaced the screen very quick and resolved my problem within a few weeks after contacting customer support
Great video. Any chance of doing a G3 (in vivid mode/dtm on/ brightness preferred) vs Qn90c head to head? My current tv is always in vivid mode even in the dark. I would like an oled, but they are too dim for me. Im curious if the G3 is bright enough for me. Im not a big gamer, but do the consoles allow you to select always on for hdr? If so, would that be a work around for the Lg sdr game mode problem? Just a thought. Thanks.
Vivid is just a shitty blue color temperature. I don't see the appeal. It sounds like all you're interested in his viewing something that is subjectively the brightest you can possibly get it which means you might as well just stick with an LCD turned all the way up because an old what is never going to be that bright and comparison. Nor you doing any kind of critical viewing where you might need it.
Not exactly. First, tvs are subjective. You like what you like. There is no right or wrong way to watch tv. Second. If you watch these lcd vs oled comparisons that KG does, the oleds look like you are wearing sunglasses when there is natural light, ice, snow, etc. He even mentions oleds deficiency in this type of content. I watch sports, old movies in sdr, Christmas movies, etc. I want it to look realistic, not dim. Ive always wanted an oled for the contrast, but they are just too dim for me. I thought maybe the G3 might look close to an lcd in vivid mode.
Smaller bars like 1.90 and 2.00:1 can struggle if there’s a ton of lights going on near the bottom and top of the screen . Average 2.35 bars seem to be having no problems.

@@TechWithKG good to know. thanks for your response
HUE support for the QN90C was not mentioned, but pushed me to camp Samsung.

@@1anre OLED pixels cannot get bright enough to counteract the external light falling on them. Resulting in dim picture.
Hi KG, thanks for the video. I’m not sure what the Nits on both are, but they go back and forth as far as which one is brighter. Typically LED are but C3 has its moments.
Do you think Q90C and compete with QN90B??
Q90C hangs tough, but id take the C3; image looks a bit more detailed and clean overall on the C3.
This is the first year I am personally saying C series beats the 90 series overall, the processing changes made to the C3 to keep the perceived brightness higher is a bigger deal than I thought it would be.
@@TechWithKG LG has come a long way with its processing.
@@TechWithKG then how come qn90c motion is clearer here?!
I’ve had them both, the C3 was nothing special, the QN90C looks so much better, I love it.
You don't have the tv in front of you so I would have to disagree on that
@prettyboiiartistic lol 🤡
I have the QN90B in front of me but QN90C is not much of an upgrade so I'll stick with it.

You need a doctor.
@@ryanu.4953have you had that experience with the oled diminishing colour? Which model and how long did it take before you noticed?
4:48 really highlights the difference for me
Would be cool to see a revist as the QN90C is $900 and the LG C3 is $1300 which TV is better value for the price.
Take your tv off of power save mode
Ye QN90B seem to have lot less blooming, and prices dropping crazy now. QN95C wil be perfect tv but same exact price as S95C...
Qn90b is the best tv for your money. Sometimes you can get it for just 800€ the 65 inch. There's no way a c2/c3 with atleast 1500€ can handle it.

Please could you compare 85 inch QN85C vs 83 inch C3? The QN85C is half of the price of C3, but it is worth the savings?

Not exactly. First, tvs are subjective. You like what you like. There is no right or wrong way to watch tv. Second.
