So you may call me crazy but when I am super hungry and want steak “now” I cut a ribeye into 1 inch bites. Salt and pepper it, and throw in air fryer for 4-6 minutes. Perfect and bite size. I don’t even have to let it rest and all of the sides are nice and brown. Stays medium to med rare on inside and fat is golden and crispy. Don’t knock it till you try it. Especially when working from home and pinched for time my friends.

I'm on day 6 of carnivore, I'm down 4 pounds, it hasn't been too difficult but its Saturday night, and I usually eat a lot of carbs on Saturday night so I'm struggling a little bit, I'm 53 and I had a heart attack in January, with no high cholesterol and no high blood pressure, I do have inflammation and insulin resistance and a lot of visceral fat, I'm hoping carnivore will help, I watched your interview with biohackers and it made me feel some hope to stick this out, thank you!!

Hi Kelly, I love air fryer steaks too and my method is to first leave the (refrigerated, NOT frozen) steak out to come to room temperature for at least 1/2 hour, less for a thinner steak (I learned this from another carnivore). Preheat fryer on 400, but I only do so for about 3-5 minutes (usually cus I’m too hungry to wait any more than that, but of course you can preheat longer), then cook steak roughly 6 minutes then turn it over another 3-5 minutes depending on thickness and how you like it. Sometimes I add a piece of aluminum foil (AFTER preheating, not before, otherwise the fan will blow it around) to catch all those beautiful steak drippings so I can eat with my steak. Those aluminum foil containers work well too. Or you could even preheat a heavier oven safe tray/ramekin/cookware (that won’t be blown around by the fan) and then cook your steak in that as well. I find I prefer to cook my bacon in the air fryer too, but don’t forget to add a couple tablespoons of water underneath the bottom of the fryer to prevent smoking, especially when cooking high-fat foods like bacon or sausages, just like James did for his steak in the Otto Grill to a)prevent smoke and b)easier clean up. Hope you enjoy your new air fryer as much as I did ❤️

I do steaks in my air fryer at 425° for 12 minutes and then 6 minutes and they have a beautiful crust and are medium rare. I have a different style air fryer though, a Cuisinart brand that looks like an oven, so put it up on the high rack right next to the heating elements. It's delicious every time and cost a fraction of the Otto Wild. Maybe someday I can afford the Otto Wild and see how it does, it looks amazing!

Yes! Me too! I preheat at 400 for 5 minutes, take the steak straight out of the freezer and set it in cold water so it doesn't stick to the plastic while the air freyer is preheating, then cut the plastic cover off and I use a wire rack in my air freyer to get a crispier crust, set it on the rack with salt and cook for 7 minutes at 400 then flip and salt and cook for 7 or 8 minutes on the the other side! That's minutes for a 10 oz ribeye:) oh my goodness, steak perfection! Pink and juicy in the middle and super crusty on the outside 🥩❤🥩

We like the bone in Ribye cut at 2" thick. We don't preheat the fryer and we put it in thawed out "chilled". Our steaks come out looking well done and dark but, so juicy and tender. There’s a lot of ways to cook a steak. I have a hotplate on my carport. I turn it on high with the frying pan on it (covered) and set my timer for 9 or 10 minutes. (Getting the pan good and hot to make a crust) When the timer sounds I add the steak and cover it. I never time the cooking but in a few minutes flip it and cook side two (also untimed).

I always love your hilarious videos! About air fryers, I've had three, and the BEST ONE for meat is definitely the Ninja Grill Air Fryer. It takes about 8 minutes to preheat to 500F, and a 3/4 inch to 1 inch steak is cooked to medium or medium rare in 10 minutes of cooking time (I bring it to room temperature and salt it beforehand.). I also use my air fryer in the garage to keep the noise and odor out of my house. By the way, it makes perfect chicken (keep the skin on for a crispy skin and juicy meat), and the chicken can be cooked in parts or half chicken (up to about a 3 lb half). As mentioned already. the steaks are truly great, and a 2" thick pork roast cooked for about 30 minutes at 390F is the best pork we've eaten. And WINGS.....superb!!!! So spend money on a high wattage air fryer, as it will cook at a higher temperature for excellent flavor, and speedy results.

Hey Kelly, I have a avalon bay air fryer, my ribeyes are in the freezer so I put one (1bl) straight into the air fryer without preheat, 400*F for 7 minutes each side, it’s come out so juicy and rich brown.
But I think the grill you have is awesome 👏🏽 but is too expensive for me lol
My next buy will be the ninja foodie it comes with food dehydrator and fits more food.

It was absolutely hilarious. James has clearly won :P Outdoor grill with crispy crust , slight charcoal flavours and loads of black pepper is a clear winner for me - James, high five ! You two are making such a wonderful team, its really a breath of fresh air to see couples such as yourself having normal life , with polite , well behaving kids and nice friendly vibe... Congratulations and keep it up :)

Cooing the steak, and letting it dry a bit in the fridge or freezer, salting it before chilling, gives meat a bit of an aged flavor. Do it 24 hrs before grilling, and it's terrific!

Thanks! or those of us that cannot afford an Otto Grill, you have saved the day. I might add, the quality of your air fryer can make a BIG difference. I own three air fryers and there is only one I would use for steak. Heats in 3 minutes, and gives me a crust. Not the same as an Otto Grill would but, still a good crust. Plus, I can buy more ribeyes with the money I saved not buying the Otto. LOLOLOL Loved "meeting" your hubby.

I bought (and use) a 12" electric skillet that I got from Wal-Mart for $20 a couple weeks ago. This thing is good for bacon and steaks and it has a lid, so minimal splash and retains the juices. Oh, and dishwasher safe, but the clean-up is so easy because I can just wash it out after it cools down some.

I do bacon in the air fryer and collect the bacon grease for other frying. Pieces of chicken, for heating/frying meat from the freezer. Love it! 😍😍

Re cooking a steak in a toaster oven: I reverse sear at 200 degrees in toaster oven to 125 then finish in cast iron skillet or over briquets on a hibachi with the cooking grates set right on the hot coals. Always turns out perfect but takes much longer than either of your methods. I have been drooling over the Otto Wilde for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, my wife real issues with spending $1000 to cook a steak. I think I made a big mistake telling her how much it cost?? It does look great! Fun video!!

Great video just love you and James personalities! I cook steaks in an air fryer all the time. My method is to leave the steak out an hour prior to come to room temp temperature, season it with salt and pepper then cook the steak in the preheated air fryer for three minutes flip and cook the other side for three minutes flip and cook the first side for two minutes and flip for the last time and cook the steak for two minutes. For a 1 inch steak this cooks it to about medium rare and it has a nice crust on both sides.

In winter grilling a steak in the kitchen gets all the appartment full of smoke, and turning on the BBQ would be ridiculous in a snowstorm. So yeah, we got an air fryer but it does NOT grill like a BBQ so I have to SEEZLE IT in a pan on the stove for 2 to 3 min. And too bad cause I bought a Lined iron cast at 100$ but to clean it is hell and it does smoked up the appt
