Only a minute in and totally already loving the dialogue. The Mormon bubble is totally accurate. I had no idea of John’s existence before I started questioning at 37. He does great work.
I'm an active but questioning Mormon and am in the same area as John. Would love to get him on my podcast to expose more mainstream Mormons to what he is trying to do. We are counseled to not listen to non-believers. He is a kind and compassionate man who is providing a platform for folks to share their stories.
Agreed! I grew up a member and left after my mission at 22, resigned at 26. There is so much I learn from him and those like him. Take care, and keep learning. I hope to do so myself at least
John has studied, participated in and listened to so many Mormons that the patterns and manipulative practices of the Mormon leadership and the communal Mormon psyche that it's easy for him to describe it all in a simple way. Most people have no idea how much effort and intelligence what John has done and continues to do on a regular basis. If only we could all achieve this kind of flow.
I love John Dehlin! ❤ What an insightful interview. No drama, no hyperbole; just facts. I’ve been watching his podcast (Mormon Stories) for years. I highly recommend it. BTW - don’t know the name of the interviewer, but he rocks it. Just subscribed because of this incredible interview. Cheers!
I visited your channel after watching your interview with David Pakman on his channel. It was such a refreshingly honest & respectful exchange, that I decided to watch this interview, as well. Fabulous! Thank you, and thank you to your guest for his work, and keeping things respectful , candid and sincere as well! 🙏
I'm only halfway in but this is looking to be the ultimate "biblically accurate mormonism" video, with all of its biggest problems highlighted so concisely and, well... quickly, since each of these topics have multiple hours worth of discussion on Mormon Stories alone
I don’t watch your show, but I recently saw your interview with David Pakman, then the algorithm brought me to this and it’s kind of wild to now see John here, and I recognized you immediately 😅 Maybe I should check the show out more if you’re bringing on interesting guests like this! It is nice to see discourse that doesn’t assume a back knowledge of the person’s beliefs, it kind of forces the most important issues to come out and be explained for a lay audience which I personally find very helpful. John is a true hero who cares about the hearts and minds of others and should be celebrated as a really admirable figure; he doesn’t push anything but truth and transparency within the religion and if that is untenable, then imho the religion is untenable. The church needs to address these same huge issues, or it won’t matter if they have the true gospel or not, because people will not go into a den of destruction if they can avoid it.
As a None in Idaho, the loneliness and lack of community is real. The guilt and shame that feeds orginized religion also breeds judgment and dismissive attitudes. A difficult place to be born in.
Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family...
I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second daughter. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks...

My mom was happy about the influence the LDS church had on me. I never got into drugs or alcohol. And I learned morals. My one Muslim friend told me to checkmark on forms about faith "I prefer not to say". Or something. I am Christian now, but I don't take everything literally, and I don't believe the rapture is anytime soon. (I'm 44, and want to live a longer life). My friend likes my chili and grilled cheese sandwiches.
My view is that because the money was never mine to begin with I'm very happy to give the Lord anything He wants. I'm also not arrogant enough to tell the Lord what to do with His money.

And young and perhaps in need of that sense of community and so called happily ever after. I went with it.. John, be honest, you explained that the Church has extracurricular commercial businesses. Not-for-profit entities that have these businesses are required to disclose and calculate UBIT (Unrelated Business Income Tax). I have not looked, but I think it's a safe assumption the Churc pays UBIT on its business profits, as it should.
Right, homophobic, racist and sexism. Once my ex-father-in law was fixing our handrail. An African American was at the bottom, and he did not give him the light of day. That worried me.

You might also be interested in The Book of Genesis being that you seem interested in Creation based on your comments in this interview.
Jesus wants nothing. He is literally a "none" because he no longer exists. It never ceases to amaze me how intelligent people like John and the host can be so illogical, yet so logical when it comes to Mormonism.

Dehlin is great but for one aspect. That is that Dehlin goes hysterical when talking about how Blacks are, & have been, treated and there is an aspect to that that should be considered. That aspect is that Freemason bylaws is that Blacks cannot be a Freemason (but the British Monarch gave some Masonic charters to use Blacks in the Swiss Satanic Triangle families Communist & NWO schemes), and official Islamic Muslim doctrine is that Blacks cannot be a true Muslim but may become an inferior Muslim by being adopted as a slave or servant to a Mideast Muslim. Then there is the Hindu & Buddist caste system that puts dark skin people on the low totem pole. Thus there may be "something" more about that subject. :.
Hi John, Your comment about Christianity at timestamp 37:34 does not describe Christianity, which is not a religion but a personal relationship with God granted by God's grace because of one's faith in Jesus Christ; it seems as though you are speaking about Catholicism, which is a pseudo form of Christianity because it's a works-based religion unlike Christianity.
Not very title friendly. If they just lead off with the full name, it will just cut out the rest of the title and you won't be able to see what the video is about from the title. Not saying that people shouldn't be respectful, but you have to understand that side. It's also hard for non members to know or keep up with it. The new Mormon is well known. The church spent millions advertising themselves as Mormons with the "I'm a Mormon" campaign. So far as I lnow, they didn't really spend any money, or put out ads that they were rebranded. If you don't follow the church closely, it is very likely that you wouldn't know. Though they are putting out lots of ads under the proper name, I don't think that the general public knows that Mormon is taboo now.
Let's play a game. If you supposedly counted 97 lies, I am certain that you can name at least 3. I garauntee that for every "lie" you list, I can list 2 truths with links to back them up.
