Sorry for the mic bumps in the audio I’ll be more cautious next time!
Great video Jason, a lot of excellent info without overdoing the length, great job!
Amazing video King. Congratulations on your new addition to your family. Keep using your talents to build your foundation for your family.
I've had mine for about 2 months and love it! Especially moving from a T6i which was a great camera, to a start but moving to the mark ii feels a bit more professional and a significant next step. Plus, it's so tiny and light. Makes it so easy to take with you everywhere.
Great Review! I own the M6 MKII and totally agree with all your points. Thank you for your efforts.
Hands down a great channel! In recent news that Canon is preventing 3rd party manufacturing of RF lenses, the M6 Mark ii is even more the most underrated camera.
Absolutely a hidden gem. I have the same setup with the ttartisans lenses. Small, compact, versatile and very capable !
Thank you for sharing great video, wanted to know about your add one the one on the 22mm lens and the camera button as well as the strap. Thanks
Nice vid. Where do you get that type of lens hood 9:05, nice touch to the look of the camera
I’ve been using the M50 and just picked up the M6 Mark ii on Amazon last week during their sale and it came with the kit lens and view finder for under $900.
I love my sigma 16mm lens with the M50 and I’m sure I’ll be using it with the M6
The Canon M6 mark ii is just wonderful!
I just purchased my second one. All black one.. i cant wait to get it. The 1st time i purchased the m6markii it was the grey n black one and i had no evf.. now i will have one with the one i ordered today. Cant wait. Dope review my friend
It’s an awesome camera I love it!
Holy crap... just bought this camera (it's my 1st) I got it on Prime day. Came with the kit lens & view finder. Paid about $870. Didn't realize how great of a deal I got till this video.
Great video! Thanks
The image quality of this video is out of this world. I have to study more to get this type of video quality! OMG!!!
I am from the old school of photography; I still use my Canons cameras, A-1 and AE-1, and my pair of Yashicas 124 (I develop my film in my darkroom). I have not jumped into the digital era yet. I am tired of lugging my cameras when I go to the field (my new career after my retirement😂). I have a degree in Anthropology, and at this time, I am doing my master's in archaeology, so I take many pictures with my 124 with its waist-level viewfinder. I loved my Canon's; besides my yearly maintenance, both have served me very well during these years(both new in the 80s, and my Yashicas were bought also used in the 80s). Your no-BS review for the M6 has given me the option to use the eyepiece and a waist-level viewfinder. I am going to order one today. Thank you, Sir; you gained a sub from me. Stay safe. I am wondering if you can have a short video with the settings used in the M6 camera.
Thank you for the insightful comment! I’m confident you’ll enjoy the m6 mark ii. Which settings are you curious in learning about?
@@JasonOsbornePhotography I have seen numerous posting that describe a preset setting in the panel, which reflects their use of the camera. With my film cameras, I only have to worry about the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO speed. BTW, about 75 percent of my shooting is done in B&W film; I am assuming that I can do the same with digital cameras. Thanks for your reply.
@@luisbperez368 yes you can set your camera to a monochrome profile to shoot in black and white, and the best part is if you shoot in Raw you can still switch to color after exporting to Lightroom
@@JasonOsbornePhotography Thank you, Sir
Where did you get your green strap for the camera?
I liked everything about my M6 II (except for the battery life). I recently traded it and an assortment of EF-M lenses in for a used (with warranty) 90D which has similar specs and is native to my collection of EF lenses. I suppose I could have squeezed another two years out of the M6 but I wanted to sell it when It still valuable on the used market. Also despite some drawbacks I missed shooting with a DSLR and now I have one again and the great battery life that comes with it. RIP EF-M : (
I got mine a few months ago, and I love it!! It's my everyday camera. Perfect for traveling and for, as mentioned before, every day. I take it with me to my daily dog walk at the local park and I take lots of photos. So portable, so good.
One Q tho, you changed the shutter button? Ir is it a skin? Either way, you mind sharing a link for it? Gracias
Here ya go! Thanks for watching amzn.to/3OJq95M
Dude im so happy/lucky i found the m6ii. I do not do photography, just record myself with talking head videos. This camera is a megagem. It sits between 2 huge monitors, so the flip UP screen is perfect! I put the ef-m 32mm 1.4 lense and hdmi out to the elgato 4k card. Separate excellent microphone... it was expensive setup, but i dont think i would need an upgrade for many years. And the value per dollar is far better than practically anything! Not 1 regret.
Does it overheat or shut down at a certain point when recording?
@@klove_134 not at all
Excellent video. The mark 2 is so great. That said, I still love my original m6 too. Actually my old???? M3 is good too for stills. I wonder how many more they would have sold had built the EVF into the cam like a Pen F.
I think they wanted to give the option of cost to the consumer. Plus if you want the evf built in you might as well go for the m50. Thanks for watching!
@@JasonOsbornePhotography Weird gthat I have an m50 too & I'm just not that fond of it compared to the 6's.
I’m looking to get a mirrorless very light weight camera to take photos and maybe video of the kids (2 toddlers/family photos). I used to shoot a canon 5D years ago (it’s very old and very heavy but I love it). I exclusive use an iPhone 14 pro max now. I was looking at the canon R10. Then I came across this camera. Which do you recommend as a good all around, light weight, camera that I or a family member with no camera knowledge can use to take photos of the kids/family? I do want something I can grow with, that is why I am not considering a point and shoot. I also want to stick to canon but I’m open to a Nikon. Light weight, small and easy to use are top of the list. Thanks!!! P.s. very helpful video!!
Which camera would you recommend from canon to pair with this one. A step up
What lens hood is that?
The M6II paired with the 22mm f/2 and 32mm f/1.4 is such a great compact kit. I’ve had it for over 2 years now and I always come back to it any time I try a new camera out.
What's that neckstrap bro. I'm looking for a wrist strap verion like that
What is the link for that small rig
What’s that black piece on the front of the lens that makes it look so cool?
Just a simple lens hood nothing fancy
Do you mind sharing the hood shade you have on the the 22mm lens, pls?
Here ya go amzn.to/3NU0Rze
It’s a great camera, if they had a built in evf it would have given the x100v a run for the money. Great for street photos with 22mm.
Just bought m6 for $640 with a view finder! From market place
Hi, Jason Osborne I have a question, how did you get that orange button, it looks great on your camera with that detail.
Do you think you can help me?
Sure you can get it on Amazon here amzn.to/3I5LX7H it’s a stick on button
I love this camera so much that it's the second one I've bought!
Did you buy new or used?
I'm looking at the Canon M6 Mii vs the newer Nikon Z30, which is how I found your channel. Price points are roughly the same although my local Best Buy has the Nikon Z30 with two kit lenses (NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR and NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Lenses) for $1099, vs the Canon M6 Mii at Amazon (15-45mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM + EVF Kit) also for $1099. I feel like I'm in analysis paralysis at this point because I'm not sure which direction to go. The primary use would be UA-cam, although my kids may want to use it for portraits they cannot get from their phones... still undecided. What would you do? Portrait photography would mainly be pictures of the kids at the park, etc.
Nikon Z lenses are more expensive than M mount lenses. Plus get the EF to M mount adapter and you have access to even vintage ef Canon lenses.
I'd look used and get a device warranty through Akko Insruance. Covers up to 25 items!~
Where did you get the Red Button from?!
How were you triggering the external flash?
External flash?
7:22 can anyone tell me what shutter button cap this is?
amzn.to/3BKf65u here you go!
@@JasonOsbornePhotography Wow! Thank you Jason!
I'm only starting to get into photography but I do marketing work as well. Looking for semi-professional quality, would this be good? Or M59 Markii?
Hey Katt - I use both the original M50 and the M6 Mk II semi-professionally for video work and I got my son the M50 Mk II to use semi-professionally for stills. The key to all of them is having good lenses (the Sigma trio for example). I wouldn’t hesitate to use any of those 3 cameras for professional stills work with the right lenses. The only caveat to this would be specific niche use-case scenarios such as outdoors in adverse weather conditions or demanding studio work with complex lighting set-ups. I currently use my M6 Mk II for macro work where the high-resolution sensor is a massive bonus for detail and cropping. I have most of the high-end ef-M lenses and it produces amazing results if you know what you are doing. Great travel cameras too! I hope that’s helpful.
@@topdazzle thanks for your input, I've decided to get the m50 mkII plus the sigma lenses as well. Should work for me for the next 3-5years or more 🙏
@@KattRuss That’s a great combo and I’m sure you’ll be happy. The most useful of the 3 lenses are the 30mm and the 16mm but for serious portrait work, the 56mm is delicious. Get variable ND filters for outdoor use and you can still shoot them wide open whilst staying perfectly exposed and giving you that dreamy blurry background which is one of the things that sets apart professional-looking images from snapshots. Enjoy!
@@topdazzle hey, what do you think about the canon 22mm f2 ef-m lens?
@@KattRuss It’s great, particularly for travel and walking around as it’s genuinely tiny.
I don't get why so many people say that with the EVF, you can compose your shot... I understand if they said you can see the screen in bright conditions... but i don't get the composing. Why can't I compose the shot with the screen?
Evf or back of screen works for me. I use both, but I prefer evf usually
@@JasonOsbornePhotography I'm just wondering how the evf helps with the composition of the shot
I use the EVF for shooting moving targets with a telephoto.
So curious why backup to backup if so good?
This camera has amazing strengths which I spoke about in my video, but I still use other cameras like the Canon R6 and Canon 5DMark IV for my professional work, As they are full frame cameras and can offer additional benefits that the m6 mark ii can’t. At the current price point I would say it’s a great choice among similar cameras
@@JasonOsbornePhotography Thanks for your answer. Question... I enjoy taking Photos mostly scenic, macro, and low light close ups (not necessarily macro). I have my old nikon D40X. Wanting to get back into my photography to print my images on my Canon Pro 200 like 13x19 size. I can pick up the M6 MARK II For a out 650 with the included lens. Would you advise this is good or something else? I really don't want to heavy camera. Color, crispiness, size and pixels are important due to size and possible need to crop. Thank you in advance.
Where did you get the red button from?
You can get a set of two on amazon. amzn.to/3aWgk35
Where did you get the small rig from? Also will be intristing to look and compare the r10 with the m6ii ..somehow iam inclined to buy a second hand m6ii rather than the r10
All eos m topic deserve a thumb up. Canon is failing us.
Hi
A camera at this price point that comes with no built in EVF is a shame. Canon should have ditched the pop up flash and put in a pop up EVF instead. That Cyclops of a clip-on EVF just doesn't cut it if you like to keep things small and unobtrusive.
If you want a camera with a EVF included at a similar price the m50 mark ii is the best bet but the m6 mark ii is still better in many areas spec wise. I feel that with the specs the m6 ii comes with including the EVF would jump the price automatically to about 12/1300 after tax which would make it too close to other cameras in the canon line at similar price points which prob wouldn’t sell, and it would take away the bang for your buck feeling you get now at the current price point without the EVF. Making the EVF optional gives buyers a chance to choose rather or not they 1. Need it at all, 2. Want to spend the extra money. As someone who bought the EVF I didn’t regret it and I find it useful. But it also makes me feel good knowing that it was an optional purchase rather than someone who never uses a viewfinder and always uses the back screen but had to pay for the viewfinder because it was included from the jump.
@@JasonOsbornePhotography The M50 does make the grade because that EVF hump makes it harder to place into the pocket. The M6 is more compact but if the Cyclops eye EVF is attached, it makes it very difficult to place into the pocket.
How difficult if it to put an EVF into the M6 chassis? The similar sized Sony A6400 series have it. This camera needs an EVF, not a built-in flash. Out in the sun, the LCD display is virtually useless to try to frame a picture.
@@JasonOsbornePhotography the M50 Mark ii was (and still is) a huge disappointment, people expected it to be the same as the m6 mark ii spec wise but the changes are so minor you might as well call it a mark 1.1
They could've did a software update to the original M50 and it would perform the same as the mark 2
The lack of EVF isn't a dealbreaker. I use it just fine.. but I feel ya.
@@Peter-bx7ip I do mainly still photos, and hardly take videos at all (except for the occasional take-off and landing when I have a window seat on the plane.
No IOS and the price is insain.
DLSR are dying? Except if you need quick reliable autofocus.... for sports and wildlife.. the best canon/sony has to offer is still light years behind a 1D X III or 5D IV (Sony and Nikon AF is also really good and Pentax is okayish when it comes to speed... still beats mirrorless though)
Product Photography Professionals still almost exclusively use the 5Ds because of the Mount, reliability and resolution...
DSLR Mounts still have a much much much much much wider range of lenses... except Nikon and Canon still have big holes in their lens line ups for mirrorless....
Why are amateurs so fascinated by Full Frame Mirrorless cameras? Those who need a bigger sensor use Medium Format.... the rest uses APS-C because APS-C has tons of advantages and no real disadvantages compared to fullframe... Especially for videos i see loads of people buying Full Frame Cameras.... and they only use a tiny portion of the Sensor.... bad decision... do it like Hollywood and use Super35... which on Mirrorless Cameras would be APS-C... faster read outs and less rolling shutter....
Also... i really used to like the Canon EF-M Mount Cameras.... but with the RF Mount APS-C Cameras coming out the EF-M Mount is officially dead.... and it was already lacking well made lenses
This camera going for cheap
Well thats a contradiction in terms.. Worth the Hype? Most Underrated Camera! .. if it was so Underrated whats this Hype you speak of? Whats the kickback for you? Free cameras from Canon?
The Canon M6 Mark ii has great reviews, a quick google search on the camera makes the hype point of the title apparent. The point of the video is to give my opinion and determination on if the camera is worthy of the positive reviews and hype surrounding it. The underrated piece comes from the fact that a lot of people still underestimate the capabilities of the camera due to its size and cost despite the positive opinions. I’m a firm believer that if more people gave it a try it would surprise many, but because it resembles a “point and shoot, or pocket camera, new or inexperienced photographers will most likely pass on it. Which is another point of this video to showcase why it is better than other cameras that cost more and are bigger in size. I’m flattered that you think Canon would appreciate my opinion so much to give me free gear but no, I bought this camera and all my canon gear with my own money and this review is independent of the company….if that wasn’t the case this video would have a sponsored tag and I would be legally responsible to say so…but let’s be real you probably only commented just off the title alone…not because you watched it.
@@JasonOsbornePhotography I personally like that it looks like a point and shoot, brings back the old rangefinder vibe. A little nostalgia implemented by the big 4 to draw people in to the mirrorless age. I personally just bought the M50 and regret it, I should have bought the M6 MkII. The M50 is more balanced in its features towards Streaming which I dont care for. None the less the M50 is taking some nice shots, I just have a little concern that it seems to be Post Processing much like a Mobile Phone does
My bad, apologies for negging the title. I'd just come from watching a video from another genre where everybody is at each other because somebody else is getting attention. Sad state of affairs these social media "influencers" are
Camera great, lenses not.
I liked the Sigma prime lenses but finding good EF-M lenses was indeed a challenge. Canon only made one prime for it and as far as I'm aware there wasn't a zoom available for the format over 200mm. One was stuck depending on an Ef adapter or a speedbooster but the same can be said for the Canon RF-S mount at the moment.
