What a cool channel. Thank you for sharing so many details about something I had no idea existed. Always a treat to learn something new from an excellent instructor.
Least you had someone nice enough to help you out. I knew a first time farmer in his first year. Another local farmer volunteered to help him but after some time they learned that this helper wasn't helping he had been sabotaging this guy's equipment and in the end this first time farmer was so later cutting corn it was just a mess he ended up borrowing a combine from a relative in another state. In the long run this poor guy ended up so far in the hole. He had to sell some of his land and the crop was pretty much useless so it was a major loss. Just be thankful you have a decent guy helping you.
How on earth do you remember how to put all that back together again? It’s Humpty Dumpty time all over but to a much great extreme. Enjoy your videos. Lifting prayers for a safe and prosperous harvest.
Hope you guys have a wonderful harvest this year much love and faith with in this channel learning a lot for future farming on my own hopefully one day stay with good spirits good health and God will guide your family farms ❤🎉 ps haven't figured out what kinds of work we are starting with possibly goats or keeping going with poultry and hay or grain to expand fully with maybe late 60s early 80s deer equipment hints on whats best 🇺🇲 pray for this election so new farmers dreams come true for gen z
Nice to see all the replacements being done before harvest Grant. Also are you trying to hint that there is a major life changing event in your future when you mention grandchildren 😅?
Great to see you and Spencer tackle those jobs with expert help knocking out a bunch himself! Considering the price of a new combine, investing $20-$25k seems reasonable to me. Another great video by Hilbert Industries :) Thank you!
Grant and Spencer, if you are trying to loosen rusted parts i highly recomend PB Blaster, i got my brake rotors off with that stuff after struggling with wd40, it helps alot with that upper-midwest rust we get
That big green thing,, is why I’m a picker and a grinder, and sell it for feed,, only doing 35 acres corn each season, 100 acres pasture hay, 25 acres cover crop, 2 acres sweet corn 😎
I have a company near me that I have been taking stuff to and they make me stainless parts for it. They are cheaper than what dealer wants for steel parts and last way longer. I’ve replaced my bin troughs under the augers feeder house floor incline auger tube in the bin and now they are making the trough under the clean grain auger. Might be worth your while to visit some local metal shops in your area and see if they can do that for you.
Love the video nice work. A little tip an old timer taught me if you're hitting metal with a metal hammer use a piece of 2x4 between the hammer and your part. It will prevent the possibility of rolling the steel or mushrooming the part. Looking good though.
A couple wear spots on our 9560sts you could check on yours. Under the conveyor augers the pan can get thin. Just something to watch during harvest. Under the cross augers in the grain tank can get thin. There are some roll pins that drive the conveyor augers that like to shear off. Check your feed acellerator, discharge beater, and chopper belts to see if they are tight. Even the guys at Van Wall who inspect these are not perfect.
Hi Grant and Spencer! Wouldn’t you know, I just got done watching Cole and Brian Sunne do the same thing on their 12 row corn head! They had the same problem,… clutches slipping too!
We had the same problem with our bubble auger, it was getting thin so we put poly in it to help wear, if you want to preserve it for a long time you should maybe look into it
Grant, it's not magical it's called being "blessed". You younger guys are going to learn as you get older, there's a reason the pews are filled on Sunday.
Did you find out what was wrong with your straw chopper warning light? Great video. I am looking forward to seeing you and your combined harvesting your crop. I wish you a happy and safe harvest.
Some of our beans are going to be ready by next week and we have a sts9650 and a sts9660 with both 35foot platform headers and one 9610 with a 8 row corn head and 3 1000 bushel semi
I have a 612c and it is a common problem with the sniping roles coming loose and messing the shaft up so we go threw and torque them and put lock tight on them. We found if they are run long that way it will crack the housing that the 2 shafts run threw so I just change that to. Have a safe and great harvest
After watching yt videos for some years, there seems to be one major issue with corn heads. The insane amount of moving parts and how things work.. they rattle and grind them self apart... And yet manufacturers keep on putting more parts into them, stalk cutters, folding and flex🤷😂😂
I just watched Sonne Farms do that same clutch repair and they did not wire wheel that shaft before putting it back in. Boy oh boy did they struggle bus like crazy.
I am glad you got the combine Squared away for this year. the ear are act like solar panels for the corn and stalk that may be way some of ears are short on corn.! went to school at corn star farms!
Hey grant did you go to school for ag? And if so how much has it helped you? I’m in high school and I’m on the fence between trying to go to ag school and trying to get right into farming (I would be first gen) or doing ag mechanics and working in that to try and have another career to back up my farming dreams
Ps I have farming experience I’ve been around a farms my whole life as my uncle farms about 500 acres and custom harvests about 1500 and my dad has always helped him out when he wasn’t working and I would always go with him and this past summer I have been out with my uncle doing things on the farm almost everyday and we have done a lot of fixing equipment and I helped the most I ever have this wheat harvest and I don’t intend on stoping helping my uncle any time soon, as a matter of fact once I het my license I plan on being around a lot more and possibly doing a coop with him
Go to mechanic school and get on the track to be a mechanic for one of the big brands, even if it's not in ag. That career will carry you through your entire life very comfortably and allow you to pursue your farming dreams. Farming takes a lot of money to start and land is prohibitively expensive. You're never going to be able to start as a 1st gen fresh out of HS with no marketable skills, you'll be lucky if you can even move out of your parents' house. Sad but true these days. College is worthless, go to trade school. That's the best way to invest in your future and reach your farming goals. You will never get anywhere working for someone else. Stay single and don't knock anyone up because that's the quickest way to watch your dreams and goals go right out the window. Marriage and family is for when you're financially stable, don't let some girl ruin your life. Would you rather raise a family with a secure, comfortable income and a small but growing farm, or working in a factory for chump change, relying on food stamps, and living in poverty. Work hard in your 20's and it will pay off big for the rest of your life.
Trippy Farmer runs a lot more acres then us. He's looking at it economically and it probably makes sense for them to keep trading every few years! He's an intelligent operator IMO!
I need to look back. I think like 70-100hrs last year. When I changed the oil filter it was somewhere around there. For me it's all about gaining experience/learning at the moment. If there's a little cost through the school of experience, I'm cool with that! Since I don't have many acres I run a lot of trials in fields. I know I have time in the fall to mess around with them with the combine- It works good!
Hey grant I’m Zane I work on a ranch and farm in Montana savage and Sidney so I was wondering if I could get to go help with bales I’m 10 and my brother is 15
Always love the Spencer and Grant shows.
Very nice of your neighbors to help you out. Good learning experience for you both.👍

Someone who would sabotage farmers equipment would be face down in the river!🤭
What a terrible person. The fact someone locally would think about doing that to a neighbor is a POS human
How on earth do you remember how to put all that back together again? It’s Humpty Dumpty time all over but to a much great extreme. Enjoy your videos. Lifting prayers for a safe and prosperous harvest.
Books called books help lol I'm a farmer machine it books that help😅
You can also take a photo's of the area you gonna work on before dismantling, makes things easier.
That awesome that you have people that's willing to help you! Keep up the hard work 💪🏻
Those neighbors seem like awesome neighbors to have.
Very interesting & informative video. It shows just how complicated corn heads & combines are. Thanks for sharing. Hello from TX.😊
There is some excellent technicians out there one from Illinois watching him work it’s worth the UA-cam time. Very very good!
always great to have awesome neighbors!
Great job explaining what you were doing as you made the repairs! Good looking combine, hope it works for many years for you. Dale
Grant your really lucky having Spencer your more the computer and numbers guy and he's more mechanical guy. Great team.

I don’t need to see anything other than the fact that Bryce owns a shyster to know he knows his stuff

Grant, it's not magical it's called being "blessed". You younger guys are going to learn as you get older, there's a reason the pews are filled on Sunday.
you are so good at everything you do in american farming you should add a where your truck can have a feed box on the back
Just watched Cole and Brian Sonne make that same repair on the corn head this afternoon. Must be soething common on the green machines
Did you find out what was wrong with your straw chopper warning light? Great video. I am looking forward to seeing you and your combined harvesting your crop. I wish you a happy and safe harvest.
We think we got it fixed!
Some of our beans are going to be ready by next week and we have a sts9650 and a sts9660 with both 35foot platform headers and one 9610 with a 8 row corn head and 3 1000 bushel semi

Well... Okay?!
The hardest parts looks to be getting to the problem, you have to take the whole thing apart
As painful as the 25k repair is hopefully the machine lasts you many years into the future
I just watched Sonne Farms do that same clutch repair and they did not wire wheel that shaft before putting it back in. Boy oh boy did they struggle bus like crazy.
This is one reason im glad imwith Fendt
If he doesn't have it already offer your neighbor a sheet of lexan for the roof of his forklift 😊
when are you going to second one for both farms
It would be fun if you did a video about mistakes or thing you regret as a new farmer and you best tips and things that helped you. love for Sweden!
Just watched Sonne farms video and they just slip clutches on their corn head. Kinda funny Beth video within a couple hours.
Great video enjoy watching keep up the great work how's the ford f250 doing
Still waaaaay cheaper than getting a new one.
Just an insight for a larger tractor we have a 75c cat and we love it, budget friendly and nice power
What kind of tower is that at 14:43?
TV/radio?
Good ol van wall in Nevada
Dude went from farming simulator to this since I watched him last

Ha I literally just watched sonne farms replace all there slip clutches on there head
I can see guys on Larson farm do something like that . Any opinion?
Can you add an American Farming all the packs game money and can you add skid, loaders and dump carts
Grant why didn't you say anything... you could have bought a basically new header (only seen Harvest twice) at my local Reuters
Will you be at Farm Science Review in London, Ohio?
Please a bigger air seeder on american farming
We’re did you get your mud flaps on your truck from
How many hours does this combine have? Seems like allot of wear.
Like 2350E /1500 S
We send our combine into the shop once every 4 years to be checked and repaired. Check this year came out to be around 40 thousand dollars.
How much did you spend on the combine ?
You got moneh I know buy a bigger header for it bro

Can you make American farming for low end iPads please
Sonne farms just replace Corn header work on their machine
Grant you tought me some stuff in this video thank you so much
You should get a case on the farm
They are brainwashed John Deere !! 😂
It's personal choice
@@mikemontgomery7337 yep John Deere plants Oh wow! Soon to be exclusively Mexico lol

Kinda sad that the big time UA-cam channels receive all the freebies for their machines while these guys need the support much more. Come on sponsors!
Any one else notice some gray hair on grant

Not a farmer here but what is a bushel?
It is a measurement of grain. A bushel of corn weighs 56 lbs and a bushel of soybeans weighs 60lbs for reference.
@ ok thanks!

Hi
Maybe I should start a UA-cam channel to help pay all my bills

I removed when I watched y’all in farming sim the good old days
I watch a trippy farmer buy a brand new combine every year. So wasteful!
Throw away society. Good on you Grant and Spencer.
Trippy Farmer runs a lot more acres then us. He's looking at it economically and it probably makes sense for them to keep trading every few years! He's an intelligent operator IMO!
When are you going to make multiplayer on American farming
How many hours do you put on it a year? 20 to 25 hours . Would be more profitable to have your crop harvested for you..

your surpose to put the chains from the header and any other chains on the combine in oil after harvest 😭

you know it proubly would suck if you put all this money into this combine just for the engine to grenade next season.
4 minutes ago is crazy
Disclosure for OSHA: stunts preformed on forklift roof was done by professionals. Do not attempt.
Did you look into trading the head for a newer one ?? 25000 $ would go a long way no bigger than your head is.
95% of the cost was the combine not the corn head.
@@granthilbert5632 was it $25,000 for parts or $25,000 for learning how to fix it
A bunch cheaper than a new machine.
If the corn head have that many problems why don’t over haul the whole corn head?
Cost.
@@thomash8795 either spend more money and get a new one, or still spend money and fix the one he has
