Since I found Reggie's Portra I rarely even try new recipes. It's so versatile, looks good with pretty much any light conditions. The only change I did to his recipe was to remove the grain as I prefer to add it in post if needed.
Thank you for drawing my attention to the "Newspaper" recipe of Kevin Mullins. I like black and white photos and I will certainly try this out. Thanks again.
Great recipe! I’ve been using it a lot! I often like having a B&W recipe selected so that you see it on the live view and EVF! Removes the distraction of colour a little
Liverpool Kev here...Thank you so much Goughie...Hope you love your new home and Happy New Year...Looking forward to more enjoyable and useful videos in 2024...Liverpool Kev
We were just saying earlier today that we need to go back to Liverpool! We had such a great time a couple years back! Thank you for watching! And happy new year to you too!!
Another excellent video! I particularly like Reala & Pacific Blue; I've noted your preference for "warmth", while I probably like a "cooler" balance. Having said that, partially by mistake I used "classic neg" , the other day, and found that several images when "over exposed" gave a creditable "real" (well to my mind anyway!) look! I've since experimented with a number of my favourite "syms" and like you, found quite dramatic changes to overall appearance, when either significantly under or over (+/- 2 stops), exposed. It's now led me to believe, as in film photography for which I've had many years experience, the colour tone of the photograph can be more significantly changed by exposure, than by changes in film "syms" alone!
Congratulations on the new home. 👌 The question, "Can I use the recipe with camera X or Y?" is also the most frequently asked comment on my recipe videos. I always think to myself, just give it a try. 😅 Tim Scott's recipe is my favorite among the five.
Hello Goughie, congrats for your new home! Another good video, great work as always. I always have the Reggie and your personal recipe set on my two Fuji cams, and I'm definitely going to give the Reala Ace a go in the near future. In the samples you displayed, the colours seemed to be more 'natural', as though the tones were sticking more to the reality, dunno if that makes sense. Cheers and good luck to you and Claire for finishing the 'moving in' process 😊
Another good video, Goughie. The black and white recipe I like a lot and will try, it out, although it is very similar to 2 or 3 others that I have. For the 3 colour comparisons, I prefer a different one for each set. In order: Forgotten Negative, Reala Ace and Portra Reggie B. This difference is what a encounter all the time. I like many recipes as portrayed on Fuji Weekly and on many other websites but am often disappointed when I try them out.
same here however I found that when I took Reggies Portra and replaced classic chrome with Astia I got better results when I photograph flowers, landscapes
Thanks for sharing these great picks of recipes! I’m currently waiting for the X100V successor, since for now I sold all of my Fuji cameras. Hope you and your girlfriend get everything setup quickly, since moving can get on your nerve at some point. Looking forward to the next videos from your new place 😊
Aaaah! Let’s hope the wait isn’t too long! Thank you! It’s been very busy! But we are getting there! Lack of internet is the biggest problem at the moment! 😂
@@Goughie oh yes, the good old internet at the new place … every time a struggle which I know from Germany 😅 (except in Switzerland, there my apartment was online before the contract started 😀)
This came at such a good time for me having just switched from Nikon Z to Fuji X - definitely got to check this out, it's just so hard for me to use JPEG over RAW 😅
I have modified reggie's portra : classic chrome into pro neg hi and it add a lot to both the green and the skin tone too my eyes. Try to change the film simulation of a film recipes it definitely can surprise you with the result
Not reaaaally! I think importantly Fuji doesn’t offer enough to make it possible But keep your eyes open for a video I’ve got coming in about a months time!
Thank you for sharing these and awesome video! Quick question about the newspaper recipe, are both the white balance and dynamic range options set to auto? thanks!
Fujifilm X Raw studio, it’s really good for playing with recipes and uses your camera convert raws into the JPEGs so you can still get straight out of camera JPEGs
Since I found Reggie's Portra I rarely even try new recipes. It's so versatile, looks good with pretty much any light conditions. The only change I did to his recipe was to remove the grain as I prefer to add it in post if needed.
it is a great one!

Thank you so much for the highlight of my Forgotten Negative recipe!
Thank you for sharing it with us! Absolutely love it!
Hey Tim, is there any way Forgotten Negative can be emulated on the Xtrans 1 sensor? Pretty please?
What a great selection of recipes, man! Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work 😊
What a great comeback 😀👍 Just love these fuji-recipe comparisons

Happy New Year and Good Luck in your new home. Nice to see you back.
Happy new year too! Great to be back!
MY MAN! Great to see you back! I'd like to get back to using some recipes, so this is great. Great shots, my man!
We really need to catch up soon!! It been too long! Thank you for watching!
"Newspaper" looks great - thanks for sharing this.
thank you for watching!
love your channel mate
Love FujiXWeekly !
Another excellent video!

Im pretty sure fujifilm has done what you're describing and added some mapping to the colours as exposure is increased! thank you for watching!
Congratulations on the new home. 👌 The question, "Can I use the recipe with camera X or Y?" is also the most frequently asked comment on my recipe videos. I always think to myself, just give it a try. 😅 Tim Scott's recipe is my favorite among the five.

I get this comment often on my recipe videos as well!

Happy new year and nice to see you back. Do you already have some video ideas? Maybe "your 2 or 3 lens choise" for holiday? 😊
Oooooo that’s an interesting! I’ve got something somewhat similar half scripted out!
Will try them all love it thanks
Great video, congrats on the move!
Thank you! It’s been very busy! But it’s been amazing
Love the newspaper one, will definitely give it a try
Reggie's Portra is the one I use all the time, no need for any other fancy IG type filter.

Awesome video Goughie!
Happy New Year and congrats on the new place :D
I'll try out the recipes!
happy new year to you too! thank you!
Reggies Portra and Pacific Blues have been my go to color recipies. The latter shines also far away from the pacific in snowy conditions.
same here however I found that when I took Reggies Portra and replaced classic chrome with Astia I got better results when I photograph flowers, landscapes
Was familiar with all except Reala Ace... and of all, I'm diggin Real Ace. Thanks!
6:35 it's York! (my hometown) Great video btw!
Love York! 👌🏻

Reggie's Portra has been my go to for 99% of my photos for 2 years almost.
Get video and timely. Was getting overwhelmed trying to decide which recipes to try. This narrows it down for me to get started.
Thank you! Once you’ve tried these I’ve made a couple of similar videos too
Kevin Mullins is an amazing photographer…he me into Fuji to be honest. The XPro2 was my start and I regret selling it.
I use Reggie’s portra on my X100 and my GFX (for those I don’t edit in RAW)
This came at such a good time for me having just switched from Nikon Z to Fuji X - definitely got to check this out, it's just so hard for me to use JPEG over RAW 😅
For me it’s about using both! I nearly always have RAW + JPEG switched on
Thank you Goughie , great video, learned a lot , great idea the comparison, did not follow Tim Scott now I will, waiting for your next video !!
interestin with the reala ace one. coz it's now from fuji on the newest cameras too :D
Hi Goughie, can please tell me what recipe is used for the racing car at 0.39?
just checked! it was Reala Ace taken on the X100V
Thank you for taking the time to check it out!@@Goughie
I have modified reggie's portra : classic chrome into pro neg hi and it add a lot to both the green and the skin tone too my eyes. Try to change the film simulation of a film recipes it definitely can surprise you with the result
Hey Goughie, could you please tell us about those pouches behind you?
Viltrox 23mm f1.2 + 75mm f1.2
with kevin’s reciepe we put ISO and SS in Auto? how about exposure?
🙏🙏Nice video, to add that you have an app on Google play or app store and there everything in one app with some samples too for each recipe
Hey! Do you know a recipe that actually looks like the real Portra 400 (with those magenta tones) ? Thanks !
Not reaaaally! I think importantly Fuji doesn’t offer enough to make it possible
But keep your eyes open for a video I’ve got coming in about a months time!
Thank you for sharing these and awesome video! Quick question about the newspaper recipe, are both the white balance and dynamic range options set to auto? thanks!
Enjoyed this video. Lucie Lock? I did not see a link in the description.
oh yes!! I missed that! ill get it added!
This is an older video, and a good example of options, but how did you use all the recipes on the same image?
Fujifilm X Raw studio, it’s really good for playing with recipes and uses your camera convert raws into the JPEGs so you can still get straight out of camera JPEGs
Is there anything you would recommend for an xpro1? cheers
i use xt3 and it does't have classic negative :(
thanks
im looking for recipes for my nikon ZF,so hard with me,please to help
Kind of wish we'd see more recipes being made that weren't just classic chrome or classic negative. Everything is starting to feel the same.
A couple of my other recipe videos purposely avoided them! I do know what you mean!
So true.
yup!!!
Can you suggest me a recipes (x-trans iv) for weddings or family group ? Thank you
I spy Viltrox Lens bags
Ahah! Yes you do! Already both reviewed on the channel! 23mm and 75mm
It's pronounced Ree-ālǎ Ace, not "reeler". I sold 1000s of rolls during my career at Fujifilm. Wonderful film.
Cheers fella
omg again u
Oh yes Goughie, always over exposed when it comes to Fuji is because of senior size?
More to do with the JPEGs looking better! If you’re shooting Raw then correctly exposing makes more sense
