This was a great video! I've been really wanting to explore film sims, and this gave me the push to go out and shoot some... will definitely be stealing some of yours haha
Great looking recipes. Thanks for sharing them. Although I come from the far east asia corner of the planet, I will certainly give these recipes a go. Wonderful video!
Bonjour and thanks very much :) I use either my ‘Crisp Chrome’ recipe or my ‘Nurture Nature’ recipe if I want more colour (it’s based on Provia). These and all the recipes I’ve created can be found on my website rossandhisjpegs.com
For the past week, finding the perfect 'Ultramax' recipe has been my white whale. The FujiXWeekly one is decent enough, but I've been trying to find an option that has a bit more punch in the reds and blues. Your Cloud Ultra looks like it fits the bill amazingly! Just got to ask - would you say it only works on overcast, cloudy days? And how about for street photography, does it oversaturate skin tones too much? Thanks!
Thanks. I actually have an Ultramax recipe which may be a little closer to the film stock than Cloud Ultra! It’s called Ultramax Electro if you want to check it out… Cloud Ultra was designed for very cloudy days yeah so it may look a little wild in any other condition. Feel free to change the WB setting to your taste though :)
Pretty nice video, and nice info Ross. I will be dusting off my old Fujifilm X30 (that's right, X30, not xt30) and give some of your recipes a go. Especially the ones biased towards warmer tones which is my preference. Cheers!
Hi mate, thanks for the video! Have a question re. the Cloud Ultra recipe. I don't seem to get it work properly, the WB + shift turns out extremely reddish. It doesn't correspond to your pics at all. Any ideas? It's not the weather though😅 Germany is very grey 😂 Thanks a ton
Hey! Thanks for the comment, sorry that it’s not working for you as is. Honestly, I just play about with the white balance until it looks good. On the day I shot these images this was the white balance that seemed to look the best with the light that was around. Hope you get something good eventually with it!!
these recepies would apply to shooting videos as well right? b/c no other dslr/dslm camera right now offers grains while shooting. do the grains in video appear organic almost like 16mm film? or they look more artificial sort of ?
I’m not too sure to be honest. I’ve never shot a video with a recipe as I prefer to shoot F-Log/F-Log2. Maybe someone else knows the answer to this one. My gut tells me that the grain can’t be baked into the video but most other settings like NR or Sharpness or DR can. Again, not too sure but definitely worth trying out :)
Aww thanks! It’s personal choice I guess. Going into the - in Clarity has vaguely the same effect as a bloom filter so maybe to balance that out you could add like +1 clarity to any recipe? I don’t know, you’d need to test it out and see what results you like best :)
Love it! Inspired me to start using recipes again. I tried using recipes on my xt3 (which doesn’t have curves) and felt like the shadow and highlight settings made the recipes unpredictable. Going to try again on XH2S

Great Great Video and workout to test those recipes, I would to see how those recipes handles people, skins tones, etc...
Hey thanks so much!! Yeah I should really do more tests on people. I can say that Crisp Chrome is banging for skin tones IMO.

That’s awesome! Thanks so much :)))
I can tell this took a lot of effort! Love the videos bro! Might be adopting a few of these ;)
Thanks so much!! Let me know how it goes. (Yeah was pretty tired at the end of the week 😂)

How are you getting the faded blacks out of a recipe? Like with the bonsai recipe? Is that possible without editing in post?
Such good recepice‘s.
I use a 10 percent cinebloom filter. What do you recommend to do with the clarity please
Aww thanks! It’s personal choice I guess.
Going into the - in Clarity has vaguely the same effect as a bloom filter so maybe to balance that out you could add like +1 clarity to any recipe? I don’t know, you’d need to test it out and see what results you like best :)

You should make weekly experimentations with film recipes. It is quite unique and can teach many new photographers on how to use their equipment.
Yeah that’d be sick. They’re so fun to make and shoot with. Thanks for the comment!!
can you make a video on how to add these recipes and save them on the xh2s
Could do yeah. I just turn the C1-C7 dial to which slot I want to use, change the settings on the camera and then hit save.
I really want to see Eterna Bleach Bypass with some tweaks.
Cool! I tried making one before but didn’t like the results, I’ll get back on it though!! 📷
Thanks for the recipes >>>> I want to buy my first fuji camera , how many Recipes i can put in the camera at one time
I think it depends on the camera you buy. Most of mine have been 7 but the older cameras are less than that I think!
Black slap looks great but my xt1 cant replicate the recipe.
Does these recipes work on the X100V matey?
Most should yeah. Don’t think X-100V has Nostalgic Negative but you could use Eterna and pump up the contrast and color!!
