@ObediaTutor ...ok, I was just concerned that when opening reason files in pro-tools that I would lose the effects that were created in reason. I needed this tutorial...thanks a million
@musician1971a Thanks! Either works fine, really. I like to use audio tracks because I consider it an instrument, but you can do whatever works for you :) thanks for watching!
I did uninstall reason 3. I learned from reading the PDF manual that PT 9MP was a 32 bit program and can rewire with anything that is 32 bit. I only installed the 64bit version. Next time I should be sure to read the manuals before starting. Oh, well. Lesson learned. Thanks for replying.
@musician1971a I just did a couple more protools tutorials, and another Reason one. I might not do much on rewiring, as it's a fairly straightforward process once you get it setup right. However, if there's something you'd like to see, let me know! /brian
Naw, I just started making the bulk of the song in reason 5, bouncing it to disc(on the desktop), then importing the song into PT as a wave on it's own track; then adding any other v.instruments in PT I feel I may need. It works out a lil better this way( make sure you remember to match PT tempo to Reason tempo so click track and quantize work with no hang ups) I also did figure out how to use Rewire into PT( importing audio is better for me though!) Hope I've helped!
please help me, i was wondering if once pro tools is rewired will it be able to edit the notes via the score editor through PT live? i know you can do this in cubase but the score editor is convoluted and would much prefer what ive already seen in PT.
@ObediaTutor Thanks for the reply! As always it comes down to preference. And with 96 audiotracks there is some room of course ;-) With the previous 48 tracks I sometimes reached the limit even without using audiotracks for plugins. Planning on any other tutorials in the near future?
This is really cool! One question: why do you use audiotracks for reason, instead of aux's? Especially now there are so many extra busses in PT9. Just trying to learn new things :-)
@BIGPHILL because you don't really open the reason file in protools, you're still using the reason engine, there's no loss of FX. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, and make sure to sub. /brian
@BIGPHILL all the reason FX are still active - in reason. You cannot route protools audio into reason and use its FX on protools tracks. If you route a delay in reason into the subtractor, it will be delayed - by the reason FX.
@jtutstone Something similar here, but kind of the other way around: When I use Reason in PT, whatever miditrack I choose, one Reason sound always plays along when I play it on the masterkeyboard. Not a big deal is it's strings, but a bass sound really gets in the way of playing for example. I didn't find a solution yet, but I keep searching!
I have rewired PT 9MP before with Reason 3. But ever since I upgraded to 6, PT does not detect it. And I did open PT first. Do you have any theories? Please let me know. Thanks.
I followed your instructions, but am I supposed to be able to record my sounds from Reason onto Pro tools? If not, how am I supposed to be able to bounce what ever I do and or change down?
After I rewire it into pro tools could I then Use a single track from guitar rig and play it in the same thing and mix it all down?!?! Sorry, I'm excited lol
So, I don't really record the sounds from Reason into Pro tools , but more so using Reason at the same time recording audio from protools. I was trying to switch back to the piano instrument from Pro tools, but every time I hit the keyboard, drums sounds from Reason kept playing.
Gd video Sir, I hv recently purchased ProTools HD10 with OMNI and a EUCON Artist Control. Whenever I try to rewire Reson. The HD Native sound is lost from reason preference pane. Can U advise why. reds
what if you want to use the effects that are in "reason" then go into pro-tools. The reason why I ask is because it seems that this method is using reason...w/o using any of he effects in reason.....I could be wrong.
hey, I'm a newby and when I bring reason into PT 9 on an audio mono track and press a pad for drums (axiom 49 controller) both the kong sound I choose and a PT sound both play simultaneously Arrggg! (HELP PLEASE!!! MAN DOWN! SOS!)
protools does not trigger reason ive done this exactly as you say, and it does not play thru the stereo track in protools, also there is no instruments available in the midi in protools

@SharpChurR0 A mono track can work, but you'll need a second mono track for left/right functionality. Call me for more help on this if you need it. 1-855-553-7205

wow you're extremely clear, what a great tutorial!
Thanks, I already figured it out, but I appreciate the response! Thanks for the tutorial as well.
very very understanding thank you so much for your post !!!!
great lesson,
thank you very much !
Ok i will
Thank you!
really useful!!! thank you...
no problem! Thanks for watching.
Thank you good job.
Good vid!
thank you for watching!
thank you!
Thanx for the reply
You can bus the audio out to an effects channel, or add the effect to the inserts on the instrument track.
Sure thing. Thank you.

@Angelsama83 check your MIDI setup - you're sending MIDI out of Protools into Reason, and you need to make sure you have the MIDI output setup right.
Thanks
@ANONOMOSMUSICTUBE So that I can mix the signals separately. One stereo feed is the same as bouncing the track to a wave and importing, I feel.

Setup an audio track in protools and set its audio input to the outputs of Reason, then record the audio on that track.
ah, yes. That makes sense. Glad you were able to figure it out, give me a shout if you need any more help :)
@MrBooyakka Thanks! Thanks for watching!

@rockon4470 You can purchase it from the Avid online store ;)

@atheish Hmm. You might need to reinstall Reason. If you followed my instructions, everything should work.
Did you uninstall reason 3? you have a really old rewire bundle there. I would make sure it's gone before yo went to REason 6.
@ELJoseNova Yup! Bounce it down and boom, you're done :)
@kk6downing nah, anything is ok; the tool is what you make of it.
I need to know if this works with Reason Essentials?
Johan de Groot same i wanna know this too. also if it works with pro tools first
I have rewired PT 9MP before with Reason 3. But ever since I upgraded to 6, PT does not detect it. And I did open PT first. Do you have any theories? Please let me know. Thanks.

how do i add reverb and delay to the midi being played in pro tools?
@kk6downing cool!
are you wearing the AA letter shirt??
After I rewire it into pro tools could I then Use a single track from guitar rig and play it in the same thing and mix it all down?!?! Sorry, I'm excited lol

@dante75915 Thanks Dante!
I tried the first way and followed all the steps right but it didn't play in pro tools for me.
Anyone know if Reason 5 is compatible with ProTools 12??
I followed this to the letter but when I go to playback and hear it I get no sound. Help please?!! Thanks for the great lesson.
what if you want to use the effects that are in "reason" then go into pro-tools. The reason why I ask is because it seems that this method is using reason...w/o using any of he effects in reason.....I could be wrong.
@jtutstone
You're supposed to make a stereo track
hey, I'm a newby and when I bring reason into PT 9 on an audio mono track and press a pad for drums (axiom 49 controller) both the kong sound I choose and a PT sound both play simultaneously Arrggg! (HELP PLEASE!!! MAN DOWN! SOS!)
I don't know what to do, i have reason installed but i can't find it as a plug-in in protools

If you are sending MIDI to Reason, yes. If you are simply rewiring reason, then no.
Whenever I want to plug in Reason, the option is not there... I can see all the other DAWs I have except for Reason... any suggestion? idea?
Reinstall Reason.
have you figured it out yet?
I found mine another way.

Can't seem to get Pro Tools to talk to Reasons Help!
Rewire is deprecated, now. You can use Reason as a instrument, now -- get the latest version of Reason for this.
I just installed Pro Tools 12, none of my plugins work..
No "Arturia", "Reason", nothin..
I'm stumped
