it was too bad about mitch ryan leaving the show he was great . i thought . i was only 2 when this was first run but via the tv apps i got hooked . these beginning eps. are my favs. even before Barnabas crept from the tomb ! cheers to your channel ! 1 question was burke in jail for 10 or 5 years ? and the other 5 spent building his fortune ?
Burke did 5 in Prison. The other 5 was he went out earned money, climbed his way up the business ladder, made investments, bought business's and made a success out of himself according to the storyline. I do agree Mitch Ryan played a better Burke Devlin than Anthony George did later on.
Anthony George’s Burke Devlin was a kinder, gentler business tycoon than Mitchell Ryan’s BD. PS Bill Malloy is about the only DS character who had an actual Maine accent.
I liked Ryan Mitchell waaaaay better, but apparently he had some problems with alcohol. Which he must have dealt with, as he went on to have a long career.
@BethHarmon-uv7tl It would have been very interesting to have seen Mitchell Ryan as the earnest, but doomed, Jeremiah Collins when Vicky was spirited back to the late 18th century. In addition, if DS had continued on the air past April of 1971, maybe Dan Curtis would have brought Burke Devlin back, with Burke having survived that plane crash in the Amazon jungle in 1968?
Got to say that Mitch Ryan has the most impressive jawbone of any actor I've seen! He reminds me of Charlton Heston.

If I was Burke Devlin and did 5 years in prison for a crime I didn't commit I would have an ax to grind with the Collins family.

Its a shame he died in the show, I liked him, but I believe he really passed away, I think of cancer
