I have an F90 M5 Competition which checks all the same boxes but adds all wheel drive to make the power a bit more manageable. But I agree with everything you said in this video. The M5 is a car that can do it all. Comfortable, quiet family hauler, but also rowdy af when you hit the go bonkers button. Highly recommended to anyone with the means and the F10 is a great way to get a very similar experience for a lot less money.
I was invited by BMW to an X-Drive event where they had a professional driver taking customers for laps around an autocross style track in an F90 M5 Competition. (Customers were able to drive an X4 M40i.) The acceleration, braking and cornering of the M5 was far in excess of anything I've ever experienced. I will never forget it. These are astonishing cars.
Your video of you driving and reviewing the M5 before you had your frozen was what sold me on it. Bought my LCI 1.5 years ago and I love it. So much car for the money. It's 2 cars in one. Quiet, comfortable and luxurious. And an absolute monster in sport mode. Cant beat that plus a simple tune and downpipes add 100+ whp. Hands down one of the best bang for your buck on the market.
@@AzYGaming I drive 1200 miles a month, 640i is more practical and has enough power to satisfy me. Also i don't trust bmw v8's. And i like to work on my own cars - i am most familiar with straight 6 petrol bmws.
@@Anythingyoulike2013 i respect that, i would say the V8’s from like 2014+ are pretty solid, “reliable” vehicles as long as you maintain them. I’ve had 0 issues with my M5 & my mom has a 650i and only thing i had to do on her car was the Y-pipe for the coolant which was a relatively easy fix and only like $30 to do lol. But i do know the inline 6’s are typically more reliable in the long term so i dont blame you lol.
The only M I've ever owned was a 91 E34 ...sold it in 2005. Just like this car it was brilliantly designed and engineered. I'll be darned you're getting me interested in something more modern.
Had my 2015 M5 Competition for going on 3 years and there's not much out there that I find interesting for the price. I live near the Dragon and love mountain drives and road trips. 115k miles and I'm still very in love with my 600whp daily.
Agreed, the F10 M5 is a great looking car and it's a monster. For me, it's just too big and I've heard too many horror stories about the N63 and S63 to want one. I've owned an E46 M3 for 10 years. I just bought an M2 Competition to replace it. For me, the M2 is the perfect size and it's also a lot of fun to drive. Of course, it has none of the bells and whistles of the M5 (or even the M3/M4), but it serves a different purpose anyway. If I need space, I drive the ML350.
I love what you have done with the M5 Brotha. I too believe the F10 M5, or F10 chassis in general is pretty sleek. I have a white F10 550i M-Sport 6spd manual and I just love getting into the car to drive it. I've done a few mods to the car, cf lip, diffuser, cf N63intake setup, and few other small ecstatic changes. I wish I could share photos on the video post. I absolutely love driving this beast.
From my own experience all I can say is I agree with everything he has said in this video. Also it's great to see someone try and warn/ educate the younger generation to respect the power this car beholds because he's not lying he's 100% correct and these cars will get away from you in rwd. I’ve driven both the f10 M5 and i own a f82 M4 I think you need to give the f82 another chance drive one slightly modified with a tune and exhaust with the DCT I promise you will love it. 🤝

If you have it stock how's the gas mileage since ik that with mods it may affect it. I'm in the market for a v8 bmw and I keep on falling back to the f10 or f90 m5. Lmk how it is since I drive around 15 miles a day mostly on city here in miami.
I Drive my f10 m5 comp with the traction fully off I own it for 3 years already and I Drive it everyday with dme stage 3 tune and still going strong, I made sure I change the oil every 2500. Be on top of the maintenance this car will take care of you
Don't forget to replace the timing chain guides and possibly also the rod bearings on a preventative basis. If either of these fail, the destruction will be epic. Check out @I_Do_Cars if you want to see what happens. Eric has torn down a few N63 engines that failed due to these issues. Also check out @TasosMoschatos if you want to see these engines being rebuilt. They are incredibly complex engines, but also amazing works of engineering.
I owned one of these for a few years, bought it used at 31k miles and sold it at 64k. Was very reliable for me and I loved it, but I got out of mine before the typical things started going bad. These are getting easier to get into, but they will bankrupt you quickly when things start breaking on them - and they will.
For those who don’t have as money for a M5, definitely check out a 550i, a baby m5 that’s making as much power as a stock M5 with simple bolt ons- same engine family if i’m not mistaken? 🔥
not the same engine, they are similiar but the 550/650s that have the first and second version of the engine are notoriously unrealiable. The 3rd revision is supossedly better but not by much.
@@PoliPantev M5 has the S63 motor and the 550i has the N63.. the N63TU (technical update) motor was improved significantly to resolve oil leaks, etc. I have N63TU in mine, with 61k miles, and it runs great. I do all my own maintenance and am meticulous with the upkeep. If you don't have a garage and some decent tools and know-how, (and some $$), this really isn't the platform for you. Might wanna stick with the B58 platform.

The F10 M5 is also the last hydraulic-assisted steering M car ever, because the F10 generation which was starting from 2010 still have the same steering rack as the E90 series and E9X M3

Something often overlooked with the F10 M5 and F13 M6, is that they still have hydraulic steering. Driven back-to-back with an F90, you will feel how superior the steering feedback is in the F10.

Got my self a F10 just 4 Months ago, was actually dreaming about it like for at least 2 years. So I ended up making an upgrade to an m paket. So its not an M5, but still just looks so classy and amazing. I hella love it.
I have a 2014 m5. I had a fender rear ended another car at 26mi/hr. It cost $26k to repair the body/paint to bring it to OEM quality again. 3 months later engine seized at 83k miles. It cost me $22k to replace the engine with a used one and it took me 7 months to find a good engine. Most used engines I found didn’t meet my standards or failed the hp/tq/leak tests. I test drove hundreds of cars during this time. It is the best car I have driven and couldn’t find another car that driver better and costs under $150k. Ended up buying a new x3m to fill the void while waiting for the repairs and sold it as soon as I got my M5 back. Bottom line is, make sure you don’t go bankrupt maintaining this. They are cheap to buy but not to maintain or repair. Tune with caution. Before power , upgrade suspension and never downgrade the brakes. That’s the most important thing for anyone who is not at least a semi-pro racer. Car has so much power , You will never be able to put down the stock power on the street without warning up the tires on a perfect drag strip.
And I will add that none of his post do the car justice as he has said himself lol. The pure metal paint in person is CRAZY. saw it at bimmer invasion last year and absolutely loved it.
I have an E60 535i M-sport 6-speed manual with a tune. I drove an F10 M5 a few years ago expecting it to be my next BMW and was very disappointed. It felt huge, had no road feel - I felt I was driving an SUV. It couldn't really put the power down. I got back in my E60 and it felt so much more nimble and light with so much more feel - like a BMW should - and so I still have it. The F10 does look better though especially from the side view.

Only one thing to mention, you’re not getting one for $30k that is in anywhere near good condition 😂 if you do…prepare to spend close to the same amount on bringing it back to life.
I have a Black F06 GC and LOVE it as my daily driver. I also upgraded to the FI exhaust with tips and carbon fiber front lip, rear spoiler wing, diffuser and side mirror covers. With the wider rims, she gets a LOT of props on the street... Good luck with getting yours!
and you’re right about it being a scary powerful car. i had a 500hp n62 engine and crashed the car within two weeks of ownership years ago when i was a novice enthusiast
Imma go with the F12 & F13. From the F series, none do it like the 6 series for me. Me myself, I own a F12. Tried the 4 & 5 series but they just didn't work for my weekend car.
Can even go with the 550i if you still want the twin turbo v8 bit for a little less. Here in Texas I've seen 550i's for 18k-23k from 56k miles up to 115k...and if you want a v8 suv they have the x5 50i with the same twin turbo engine I believe. Just make sure to go with a 2014 or better for either car, those are the ones with the upgraded "n63tu" engine so a little more reliable than the 2013 and older
AWESOME car, I drive e83 x3's, got my 2007 in november after 10yrs with a 2005, I actually found a 2007 with 86k and in mint condition, as rare as it gets!
@@YoungTooShabby from what I’ve been learning M5 is twin turbo V8 and M3 is twin turbo inline v6. Both are the sedans and that’s what I need. The new M3 and M4s got the facelift and come base or Competition edition and the M5 got 3 levels of Base,Competition and CS. M3 and M4 are more track focused while M5 is more drag/straight line/day to day comfort but heavier (like a German Hellcat). I’m no expert just what I’ve been researching so far haha
@@stonedotdrivesjust inline six not inline v6 lol the inline and V are two different engine setups. M3 is lighter and smaller and m5 is bigger and two more cylinders. Comes down to what you want, m5 more pricey.
maybe... as long as you dont do too many canyon roads (for which an E92 M3 would be way better). The F10 M5 its perfect for the US... lots of space, straight roads etc etc.
Excellent breakdown of the F10 M5 and kudos for keep hammering about safety and respecting the power. However, I'm an A$$ man and I gotta go with the F80 M3...that's why I own one! 😂
Keep an eye on your oil level. The oil level sensor gives false measurements. When I do my own oil changes, I like to check it physically. Every 3500 miles I lost about 500 ml of oil, all while my oil level sensor kept reading full. So keep an eye out for it so you don't destroy your rod bearings.
I agree with you about the value in the F10 M car but truthfully I sort of like the new grills as long as you live somewhere that doesn't require front plates. The opportunity to leverage the extra airflow makes the cars look fast even though they resemble the pig from angry birds.

I have to agree with your assessment,...especially after owning,...a 2012 F10 550 xDrive,...and later upgrading to a 2013 F10 M5. BMW missed a great opportunity in not releasing an xDrive F10 M5 in the final chapter of the F10 chassis. Now,...wait until you upgrade,...again,...to the F90 M5. It may very well possibly be the best BMW,...North of the G05 M550! So, long live the F10 M5!,...long live all BMW M5s!!!!!!! Edit: He ain't lying about the "Power",...don't be that guy that attempts to drive the F10 M5,...any M5 for that matter, like it's a 4-cylinder,...the S63 is an explosive runaway train,...going down hill! I think the N63 and S62 are weak at the buttom when it comes to modding them and taking it to the track, but can be a keeper if you dont take them to the track
Have driven 100000km with my 2016 M5 comp and the only fail been a single coil have changed oil according to the onboard system no more. Have driven year round in sweden which means bellow zero degree starts.

Oh they do eventually break. My F10 M5 was very fun, but needed 15K of CPO warranty repairs during my 2 1/2 years of owning it.

F10's also have rod bearing issues. Just change them. I did an s85 on my back in the garage.
If you can't afford to do the rod bearings you shouldn't be considering any M car.

Its only about $2k for the E92 M3 rod bearings. As others have said if thats too much then these cars aren’t for you.

I've had a '14 Sahkir Orange F10 M5 for 2 years and i love it! Still only has 60 K miles on it

e60 is less comfortable, has worse boxes, nasty interior, it's good that the f10 e39 was returned.

I have a Black F06 GC and LOVE it as my daily driver. I also upgraded to the FI exhaust with tips and carbon fiber front lip, rear spoiler wing, diffuser and side mirror covers. With the wider rims, she gets a LOT of props on the street... Good luck with getting yours!

Imma go with the F12 & F13. From the F series, none do it like the 6 series for me. Me myself, I own a F12. Tried the 4 & 5 series but they just didn't work for my weekend car.

Recently sold a f10 m5 had it since 2016 was nice just expensive to maintain relative to endless decline in value of the vehicle
Can even go with the 550i if you still want the twin turbo v8 bit for a little less. Here in Texas I've seen 550i's for 18k-23k from 56k miles up to 115k...and if you want a v8 suv they have the x5 50i with the same twin turbo engine I believe. Just make sure to go with a 2014 or better for either car, those are the ones with the upgraded "n63tu" engine so a little more reliable than the 2013 and older

@@YoungTooShabby from what I’ve been learning M5 is twin turbo V8 and M3 is twin turbo inline v6. Both are the sedans and that’s what I need. The new M3 and M4s got the facelift and come base or Competition edition and the M5 got 3 levels of Base,Competition and CS. M3 and M4 are more track focused while M5 is more drag/straight line/day to day comfort but heavier (like a German Hellcat). I’m no expert just what I’ve been researching so far haha

@@stonedotdrivesjust inline six not inline v6 lol the inline and V are two different engine setups. M3 is lighter and smaller and m5 is bigger and two more cylinders. Comes down to what you want, m5 more pricey.

The only m5 better then a F10 is the E34 3.8 nurburgring edition m5 . that 3.8 inline 6 NA with 335hp is just a beast
maybe... as long as you dont do too many canyon roads (for which an E92 M3 would be way better). The F10 M5 its perfect for the US... lots of space, straight roads etc etc.

Keep an eye on your oil level. The oil level sensor gives false measurements. When I do my own oil changes, I like to check it physically. Every 3500 miles I lost about 500 ml of oil, all while my oil level sensor kept reading full. So keep an eye out for it so you don't destroy your rod bearings.

I agree with you about the value in the F10 M car but truthfully I sort of like the new grills as long as you live somewhere that doesn't require front plates.
The opportunity to leverage the extra airflow makes the cars look fast even though they resemble the pig from angry birds.

I have to agree with your assessment,...especially after owning,...a 2012 F10 550 xDrive,...and later upgrading to a 2013 F10 M5. BMW missed a great opportunity in not releasing an xDrive F10 M5 in the final chapter of the F10 chassis. Now,...wait until you upgrade,...again,...to the F90 M5. It may very well possibly be the best BMW,...North of the G05 M550! So, long live the F10 M5!,...long live all BMW M5s!!!!!!!

I think the N63 and S62 are weak at the buttom when it comes to modding them and taking it to the track, but can be a keeper if you dont take them to the track

Have driven 100000km with my 2016 M5 comp and the only fail been a single coil have changed oil according to the onboard system no more. Have driven year round in sweden which means bellow zero degree starts.

F90 m5 is a whole different level of car more powerful luxuries reliable less problems better motor... u paying alot as well
