G42 M240i owner. The B58 is such a great engine for an enthusiast's daily driver. The power is there when you want it but it can also get great gas mileage when you're taking it easy. I've averaged 40MPG on two recent road trips just cruising in eco mode.
Don’t forget that a 2018+ f22 m240 is the LCI, you get a lot of nice upgrades like m2 tail lights and gauge cluster, updated headlights etc!! Also don’t sleep on the RWD. The suspension is wonderful and the car loves to hook even with power. Thanks for the vid
My 2018 640i GC has been amazing, less than 45k miles when I bought it, has all the options with over 100k MSRP. It's heavier in the drive but it does turn more heads than you'd think! Bought it in the 30s
I definitely think the N55 E82 is a fantastic platform for the price. More reliable and cheaper parts than the N54 and can easily be found for less than 15k. You can't get much more car for that price.
Am I tempting fate with my 2016 X5M? Picked it up last spring for right around the $30k price point. Surprisingly, its been trouble free for me even as it approaches 100k miles. For as big as it is the S63 gets it moving and its surprisingly fun to drive.
been keeping my eye on the F97 X3M, depreciation has hit these cars hard especially the early 2020 models. you get the newest S58 power plant without breaking the bank and a very good looking exterior and spacious interior. have seen some with higher mileage examples go for as low as $35k.
I agree on the og m2, becoming great value then id say the m4, both M cars. The only one missing id say is the e82 135i/is. Harder to find but a clean, lowish milage one is low to mid 20s.
My FAVORITE BMW I’ve ever owned was a 2015 435i Gran coupe. Looked like a coupe. Had a hatchback. Had 4 doors. Looked proper with a roof rack and BMX bike or surfboards. And I got it for $18k.
I don’t own one (yet) but I think the 440i gran coupe can be an excellent underrated option I’ve seen some hovering around the 30k point w decent mileage. Looks are subjective but since we don’t get wagons in the US could be a sleeper 👀
440i GC is definitely amazing. I do think that the 340 has better feel when you drive the car compared to the 440 but at the same time its just like the big grille I love on the 440. Otherwise cars are definitely super similar.
Great video, am currently looking to get a 240i by the end of this year and wanted to hear your thoughts on what it takes to keep a b58 healthy and what are the service intervals u did with yours🤙🏾
I‘m not gonna lie I‘m close to crying that the F80 and F82 are so cheap in the US while they are super expensive here in central Europe.. you need to spend at least 48-58k to get a facelift with good options and moderate mileage..
Now you need a budget bimmer video. I nominate the E60 535i. You can snag an M sport low mileage example for less than 10k if you look around. They aged nicely and the aftermarket support is growing bigger
for the maintenance on the M3 X90 just two major thing rod bearings and valve actuators, but once you done forget about high cost maintenance, if you follow BMW service intervals it is a very reliable car, beside of fuel consumption but this isn't' a failure problem, you need to realize you drive a real " ultimate driving machine!! it's a incomparable experience to drive this car, in any road as well in a race track.
The Z4 M40i is a nice car. It's a shame it doesn't get the aftermarket support that the 3 and 4 series get. I'd consider getting one they look and sound great.
I’m surprised about what you said about the e9x m3 regarding the maintenance. My father bought one in 2013 with 20k miles, and only had to do the rod bearings and vanos (he did the rod bearings at 150k miles and the ones that were swapped out didn’t even look too bad)
I don't know BMW history enough to debate your list. I trust your judgment/opinion based on history with these cars. Do a list of best new BMWs ..... I know price points are insane but, there is a big market for these cars. In the forums I see people waiting 5, 7 months, even over a year for new G80,G82 cars. I got lucky there, I believe due to my relationship with Hendrick Porsche. I ordered my G82 through Hendrick BMW September 6th and my car arrived 10/31/23, picked it up 11/4/23. I was originally told late December delivery, maybe January. My order sheet at the dealership did say "Priority" on top of order sheet, not sure if that is standard? None the less I amvery happy with my G82CX and my order/delivery time. I think there is a watch market for "best new BMWs" based on 2023 sales reporting.
@@ThicWhips You inspired me to get a B58. I had a 430i which I liked but it had no personality with the 4 banger. Seeing you and others have fun with the B58 got me to trade the 430i in for a 440i. No regrets!
Will soon pass my funded challenge. Saving up for a 240i. Anybody who has own can you tell me what the expenses are like? Also what are the pros and cons?
I think expenses are reasonable, but had bought extended maintenance (5yrs) with car (2017). Now have an oil service plan for 3 years . Cost was about $65 per year. Just had a brake fluid flush / change $225, have replaced 6 tires (pot hole damage and no normal wear). I have 34k miles. I think the dealer wanted $600 for plug change, I will do that myself
@@kdjunkins okay these numbers are giving me hope. Thanks for sharing brother 🙏🏿 I can dip my toes into my favourite German brand without too much worry.
For the price range I would add 2013-18 m6/m5 maintenance is going to wild like the e9x platform but once done you will have a solid ownership and fast car out the box
If you can’t afford anything finishing with 40, substitute it with a 35. You’ll go from a B58 engine to an N55, possibly an N54. Reliability might not be the same (N54) or power potential might not be the same (N55)!! 😂😂😂
Let me know how you feel about this lineup! I think its pretty solid but Im sure there are others I've left out. Thanks for watching!
E36 and E46?
How i feel i feel bad watching this a 2015 bmw m4 in denmark is about 130.000 usd 😂
Should have included the 230i with the 240. Even cheaper, still quick with a 4 cylinder turbo and insurance isn't killer either

Because we know BMW’s are unreliable in America, so their resale value reflects that. Owning a BMW out of warranty is expensive.
