The unpaper towels are made of flannel. They are a great thing to have and you can make them really easily and cheaply.

the cotton pads sound exciting!!!! my favorite reusable item is my diva-cup. It's less toxic than tampons or pads and I rarely leak and don't have to worry about waking up with blood on my sheets. Also, they last for 3 years.

I also use Stasher bags and love them! I’ve been using a menstrual cup for over a year now and it is a game changer! I am just now buying reusable pads! It’s saved me so much money and I always have my cup inside me so I can never forget it! It’s crazy the things chemicals can do to our body. My period went from 6-7 days to 4-5 days and I rarely get cramps now! It’s probably been my favorite switch!

Stasher bags for a replacement of ziplocks! Produce bags are awesome - I just keep them with my reusable bags so I don’t forget them.

I also love my reusable cotton rounds for facial toner and make-up remover. Rather than buying more cotton rounds for nail polish remover, I re-use the cotton from my vitamin/supplement bottles (the wad of cotton that they stuff into the bottle to absorb moisture I guess). When I finish a bottle, I save the plastic/glass bottle to re-use for storage of tiny items/spices/etc or recycle it, keep the little desiccant packs to re-use for humidity control in small spaces, and stash the cotton in a bag I keep with my nail supplies to use for the next mani/pedi. I still keep a few disposable cotton rounds in the first aid kits in a clean zipper bag for wound cleaning, but I've been able to switch to a more sustainable solution for anything else I used them for.

Wash cloths work just as well & they don't disappear in the laundry. Ppl make everything too complicated.

    ♻️🌎👏🏻YAAASSS, JAMIE!!! 👏🏻🌎♻️
Big environmentalist and Jamie fan here. I clicked so fast 🥵
Definitely take the plunge on reusable produce bags. I included ‘em as one of my stocking stuffers for friends and family this Christmas, and have been using mine for over a year! I ordered from Colony Co., they have mesh cotton bags if you prefer to see your goods and solid cotton bags if you also use them for bulk products like rice. 🥰 I love them.

This is why I LOVE you! This may sound crazy, but the one thing I was SO sad about after getting married this past July is that I couldn't watch your videos anymore- and then.. I discovered THIS channel and you are a SUSTAINABILITY QUEEN, PLANT QUEEN, and BEAUTY QUEEN as WELL! Thank you for being you~!!

I have made pretty much all these switches minus the soap nuts but I really want to try them! I don't have a compost though living in an apartment.
Another switch I made: I make coffee with a chemex and drink a lot of teas. I switched over to reusable filters. I have a stainless steel one from Amazon and the coffee sock. I also have cotton reusable tea bags for loose leaf teas.
Also a soda stream..we used to buy soooooo much flavored seltzer in plastic bottle and cans. This has saved us so much money and our recycling bin fills up way slower now

Been wondering about the soap nuts since you posted them awhile ago on Instagram. Live in greater Chicagoland, in Chicago proper they charge extra for bags and get a charge on plastic water bottles, so always have a reusable bag when heading into work

For nails, I have one of those little jars with nail polish in them and have used mine for like five year’s because I don’t like the idea of cotton pads, don’t know if they work on gel or anything though. Thanks for all the sustainability ideas!

For several years now I have been obsessed with my reusable bags that fold up into a tiny bag. This allows me to ALWAYS have them on hand and I use them for absolutely everything. Traditional reusable bags actually need to be used a lotttttt in order to make up for the waste that was created when making them (in a lot of cases) but with these bags, I know that I'm actually using them enough to make up for any waste that was used during manufacturing. There are ones you can get on Amazon that you throw in the washer to clean too if you use them to carry something like shoes and then need them for groceries.

I have been going green over the past 4 years. I ditched all of my chemical products and strictly use YL essential oils, YL cleaning products and Norwex. I’ve never heard of the laundry nuts!? I’m going to look into those. However, I do love my reusable produce bags. We spend so much money on paper towels. That’s the next thing I want to work on. My husband is the paper towel nut. I have some Norwex counter cloths that I use often. Thanks for sharing this video.

Also thanks i was gonna get the fabric squares but didn’t know if they really work

I love our dryer balls. It is hilarious when the family is like where did the dryer balls go? “Check your sisters pants...” They hold up skinny leg jeans with balls stuck in the bottom of the legs. (It only ever happens to my daughters jeans)

    • @MzClementine
      @MzClementine 6 місяців тому

@vr2186 any jeans that have stretched to them. Such as skinnies. You should never dry. Drying them, breaks down the polymers that help the jeans stretch. And hold their form.. They will naturally shrink up, air drying. If you want to stop buying jeans all the time. Hang your jeans. Of course cotton jeans. Specifically. Get softer and better as you dry them.
But skinny legs. Drop drying them. Have pant hangers, ready and just pull them out. I hope you wash them inside out. That's the best way to wash them..
And just hang up. Literally 24 hours they will be dry.. I have a dehumidifier, in my basement. Where I do my laundry. And my laundry dries by the next day..
I kid you not, I have stretchy jeans from the '90s. I have most of my high school / young twenties jeans.. What has kept so many of them nice with stretch. I hang them..
I know we think Oh it's easier to throw it in the dryer. Not really. Because that's going to add up. Same thing with your leggings. Same thing with anything that has stretch.
The majority of my clothes are hung.. I'll never forget, my husband my boyfriend at the time. He washed $130 pair of pants. Through them in the dryer. Beautiful wool sweater. Dryer. He was forbidden to ever touch my laundry again. And he knows there are specifics whenever I do laundry. 😂
If you throw stretchy things in the dryer. They are going to wear out in 2 to 3 years or even a year...
To soften them. I just throw them in the dryer on air. And of course the balls help.. But I'd never use them on my black things. Or even dark blue. Oh my no.. haha 😅 😆
I love keeping a sweater shaver at hand. Especially whenever doing my black laundry. Or sport things. And of course sweaters.
Start making those jeans last 10 20 years. No joke.. and the hubby knows. If it has stretch. Don't dry it 😅

Great video, Jamie! I have been using Norwex products for nine years.. these products replace traditional cleaning and personal care products with sustainable and safe (no toxic chemicals) alternatives. This brand has been around for 25 years and started with its microfiber that has microsilver in its fibers to stop bacteria from living/growing in the cloths, making them the perfect, reusable product! No need for disinfecting wipes as they can also remove 99% of bacteria from surfaces.. anyways, I do t want this to get too “pitchy” but you asked for recommendations and this is what I whole heartedly suggest to you and your sweet family!
