HA HA! I'm from Denmark and we've had this type of dish cloth for decades and they are cheap! About 0.3$ a piece! Good job for calling out these greedy scammers!
They were actually invented by Curt Lindquist in 1949 while working in a sausage skin- and sponge factory (korvskinns- och tvättsvampsfabrik) in Norrköping. He gave it the name Wettex (Abbrevation of "wet" and "textile"). So Wettex is actually the original! If a sausage skin- and sponge factory sounds like a weird combo, it's because both things were made of cellulose, I think.
I'm so glad I found your video. This is brilliant. I'm glad I didn't spend the 54 bucks to buy dishcloths I can get for so much less. I despise Instagram marketing.
Sure, there's "designer" wettex in Sweden too. But then everyone knows it's the cool design you pay for to make it a part of your ordinary everyday dish cloth use. Making people believe it's a new invention is just fraud...
THANK YOU! This just saved me some money, but when I see an ad on Instagram that interests me, I usually go to Amazon and check their prices, which is usually a lot cheaper, and by looking into reusable paper towels, I came across your video…glad I did, thanks again.
I was curious whether they blocked you because you told people where to get the cloths cheap or if they had an issue with the swedish dishcloth thing. So I left a totally friendly comment asking if they where swedish dishcloths, and sure enough i was blocked. Definitely seems like they are trying to market a product that has exsited for decades as new, innovative and unique.
Thank you for saving me $100+ on these! I honestly think their patterns are super effing cute, but I really dislike how they're positioning themselves as the inventor of these cloths and blocking/deleting comments. Super shameful, won't be buying from them now.
As a Swede I couldn’t be more proud that you are defending our culture on the web with such passion. With every living breath you are proving that Migrationsverket made the biggest mistake they ever made for kicking you out. Let me just give you a Swedish passport already.... you are a fellow Swede to me ❤️🇸🇪❤️
I had these in my cart and went to check UA-cam for reviews and came across this. Got a 10 pack on Amazon for much less. Thank you! P.s. super tempted to comment in their stuff. Lol
Just got the Insta ad for Papaya and liked the idea. Googled "papaya towel review" and found your video. Thank you so much for saving me money to try a new product I've never seen that is more sustainable than paper towels and cleaner than sponges. I want to use sustainable products but I certainly can't afford what Papaya is asking.
So glad I came across your video! I was really considering buying their cloth from a Facebook ad. I decided to look to UA-cam for reviews of this product. I never heard of Swedish dishcloths so it’s definitely something I want to try.
I looked at this company's ads on IG today and they responded to someone's comment about the lower prices on Ebay and Amazon by stating that these towels (papaya brand) are superior to the cheaper Swedish dish towels, claiming that their product goes through rigorous testing, lasts longer, and is of greater quality. They state that the hole for hanging is unique to their brand along with the included hook. Sounds like they are trying to scam people.
Thank you for this video. I just found the ad on fb and came to UA-cam to check reviews and stumbled on your video. You just saved me from buying an expensive paper towel. I am going to check on Swedish dish cloth now

That's when I run into your video. I'm Brazilian, living in Canada, and had never heard about "swedish dishcloths" before. I just threw this term on Amazon and found tons of options!! Bought a 6 pack for 14 dollars. I like the idea of supporting a Canadian brand, and try to do so as much as possible, but 44 CAD (the price as of today) for a 4 pack is a bit too much. So, for my Canadian friends, if you can't find local, just go to Amazon and be happy. Those products are really amazing, I'm happy I discovered it. And thank you again for calling this out!!

I just reported the company to Wettex. The ones who invented it. I'm guessing they are allowed to sell them since a patent only lasts about 70 years. It's been 70 years now. That's most likely why they are allowed to sell them.
Patent ran out in the 70ies, so it's not an issue but the funny thing is that Wettex has representation in the US. Also Papaya are not the only ones selling these for 10-20 times the price but they are probably pretty alone in, somewhat, claiming it's their invention.
I had to snoop. On one of their videos (from nov 14th) they answer a question of where they are made. They are apparently made in Germany and printed + packed in China? Not so sustainable after that. Seems like they might be really cheap to make if they ship them to china.
Quite impressive to ship a product between 3 continents and call themselves Eco-friendly. I try to see past virtue signalling as best I can but to make up stories and then brag about it is pathetic.

I am glad you made this video and spread awareness. Honestly I didn’t know about the Swedish dishcloth. I found papaya expensive too so before buying them I thought I would do some review research. And here I found your video. I would rather buy a cheaper and genuine Swedish (or Swedish brand) than papaya. was invented in 1949 by Curt Lindquist. [1] Wettex's main purpose is to dry up liquids. The sponge cloth is a non-woven fabric consisting of regenerated cellulose reinforced with cotton fiber. Since 1990, production has been part of Freudenberg & Co (Vileda). Examples of areas of use are general cleaning, sanitation and kitchen. The annual production is 220 million rags.
Glad I searched for reviews before buying. Their brand seems too much like a boutique-y pop-up price gouge. Glad to know I can get these at IKEA for much less money.
Thank you! I’m always suspicious about products on these ads! Exactly what I needed. I’ve been intrigued by them since the first time I saw the ad pop up but didn’t want to spend the $. I’ll go look for some other ones 😊
Oh my goodness thank you so much for this video I was looking for reviews to buy this product since it was so pricey now I just bought 5 on eBay for around the same price for one of the papaya brand You just saved me so much money 💕💕💕💕💕
Well done 👍 Too much profiteering on customera. On the other hand, buying 6 dishcloths for 54$, that's a lot of money. Who would be that stupid to agree to that deal?? You need to come back to Sweden and continue your channel, though I appreciate your enthusiasm in promoting Sweden for your fellow countrymen.
I've never heard them being referred to as Swedish dishcloths until I started noticing Americans talking about them. In Sweden we typically refer to them as Wettex cloths, regardless if they are actually Wettex or not. BTW, a friend made a dress suit from Wettex cloths! 🤣
So, I'm scrolling on fb just now and saw the Papaya post and clicked on it - I thought, wow that's a great product. Then went to YT and searched for reviews on it. THANK YOU FOR SAVING US MONEY! I was in their website, totally thrown bc of the ad I saw in IG. I was thinking to buy the pack of 2 for $20. But I kinda remember I have used something similar before and maybe can buy it in a dollar store. Good I did some research and saw your video.
THANK YOU!! I had never heard of these kind of dishcloths so I thought it was awesome - but I can’t afford that price for so few! Knowing what to search for now on Amazon I just bought 10 for $17.99 (CAD) instead of 2 for $22!
I am so glad I saw this. They reminded me of the dish cloth we have in Germany but I thought the Papaya ones were somehow special, since they prices are so ridiculous. You get a 5pack in Germany for 95 Cents lol
I am rattling my pitchfork! Am also strangely curious about what Americans use to clean their counter tops with. Is that what those ridiculously long CVS receipts are for? Will Meagan be the patron saint of dishcloths? So many questions!

@@niklasmolen4753 If you want to be a bit more environmentally friendly it's better to reuse them, though. :)
@@EmKatSam Of course, I use them many times. But they are not worth boiling or washing in the machine.
I love that you tend get overly exited and invested in things other people would not give the time of day. (I am a bit like that too]. To se you do it is really entertaining. Seeing you Getting so upset about the Papaya social media blocking you was hilarius! I would also throw down then and there, and never let go.of that injustice. You go girl!
I'm glad I always watch reviews for products I want to buy. Thank you for posting this, you saved me some money.
So happy that this video is the first one to pop up when I look up "Papaya ... review". Your amazing video is still continuing to help people like me from spending more than I need to. Big thanks!!!
This is the sort of thing that the Internet was invented for -- shoot this straight into my veins! When you inspected the HTML to prove your point I lost it.
Thank you so much for your video. When I see products like this selling at crazy prices, I always check for honest reviews, and see if there is a knock off somewhere. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this!
Since you have more knowledge about it, please let me know which are the best ones out there😊
You’re not being hard!! You just saved me $$ and I ordered watermelon Swedish dishcloth on Amazon. 😁😁
Well, we love you for trying, ranting and feeling the feels :)
They def want it seem like it’s new and their idea. After scrolling through their social media posts they want to get people who have no idea what these are to buy them wayyyy overpriced. Thank you for saving me $$$. 🙏🏻
Happy to help!! :D
I was looking into buying the papaya towels to cut back on my paper towel use and I’m SO glad I found your video first. Now I can still cut back using paper towels without spending $50!!!
Thank you for your comment...wish I had seen this sooner JUST purchased my package. I thought I was doing something good and I was excited about supporting the product and the company and getting a good product! Now I'm a bit upset that I have WAYYY overpaid!
I almost got sucked in by this exact same Instagram ad. I've never heard of Swedish dishcloths and thought it was an amazing new invention. I started poking around and did find out about Swedish dishcloths! Thank you for making this video.
Thanks for sharing your story! Unfortunately, I bought some Papaya brand cloths right before seeing your video. So, they got me for $18, but thanks to you, I'll be buying them on ebay from now on. You rock!👍🏽👍🏽
Just seeing Papaya on my FB feed, I had been gifted a Swedish dishcloth but I didn’t know what it was called or how to properly clean it….so I trashed it- now I’m looking for more!! Thanks for saving me some significant change!!! 🤑🤑🤑
And in Papaya ad, there’s a lady saying she invented it 😂.
Thanks for this video.
Go getém Meagan! I´m so proud that you still are cheering for Sweden. And companies like that one deserves to be called out indeed. I dont use Insta I get enough commercials as it is already. I hope you will come back to us. If you are you´r very welcome home! 🤗
I love the "OH's" you add to your videos! (:
So glad you are back to posting videos - I miss your being in Sweden of course! This one was fun!
Omg thank you for calling them out and saving me money. I was looking for Papaya reviews and found your video. I ended up buying a pack of Wettex for less than $8 on Amazon. Lol
I know it’s been a year but good for you!!!! They’re taking advantage of people who aren’t familiar with Swedish dishcloths!
was invented in 1949 by Curt Lindquist.
Just watched your entire video and you are an angel sent from heaven! Saved me 60$
Well done 👍
Too much profiteering on customera. On the other hand, buying 6 dishcloths for 54$, that's a lot of money. Who would be that stupid to agree to that deal??
You need to come back to Sweden and continue your channel, though I appreciate your enthusiasm in promoting Sweden for your fellow countrymen.
There are a lot of people.that would fall for it.
I've never heard them being referred to as Swedish dishcloths until I started noticing Americans talking about them. In Sweden we typically refer to them as Wettex cloths, regardless if they are actually Wettex or not.
BTW, a friend made a dress suit from Wettex cloths! 🤣
Jag och många andra säger Disktrasa = dishcloth.
Omg so grateful I found your video! Almost spent $50 bucks on dishcloths! Thank you for calling them out! Also their ads are back! Dun dun duuuuuun! 😱
You deserve more likes and views for this video. You are saving people thousands. Thank you!
I seriously love seeing all of the comments saying how much money they saved! So happy I can help :)
So, I'm scrolling on fb just now and saw the Papaya post and clicked on it - I thought, wow that's a great product. Then went to YT and searched for reviews on it. Your vid was the first one I clicked on and boy am I glad I did. I am one of those who didn't know what a swedish dishcloth was. Went to amazon and there they were - 10 pk. for $9. Thank you so much for the info and saving me some $$. ❤😘
so glad i found your video! thank you for saving us so much money!!
I was just looking for a review of those papaya cloths and found you review. Can't believe they just blocked you. I hate those kind of companies that there only goal is to make money, especially in this economy.
Thank you so much❤
Nice to see that Migrationsverket can´t stop you from fighting the good cause✊
Girl you are a real one. I liked their ad and checked their website and saw that price!? Found such cute cloths on Amazon for $10-15 for 6-10 packs! Smh snakes right
thank you!!! i’m so mad i found this after i purchased papaya’s swedish dish cloths and never will again
Wow thanks for this video. I never heard of a Swedish cloth but I did see this ad on ig and researched it and ran into this video. I rather buy the ones on Amazon now. Its great you exposed them. I don't think that's right of Papaya to not acknowledge its been around for decades
Kinda horrible but also hilarious. I laughed at your comment. So good :)
Thanks for standing up to us, and Sweden. Hehe
Thank you! I just saw the ad And was thinking about buying them and I’m glad I now know where to find them 👍
Thank you! Swedish dish cloths! I was just about to buy some of these papayas from Instagram cause I hate wasting (but it seemed too sketchy with the flashy marketing and hype)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! i just canceled my order with them now that i know what they are!!!!
I am so glad I saw this. They reminded me of the dish cloth we have in Germany but I thought the Papaya ones were somehow special, since they prices are so ridiculous. You get a 5pack in Germany for 95 Cents lol
Thank you so much!!!! I thought these can’t be this expensive!! So glad I watched this.
Thanks for sharing. I was one of the naive ones that didn’t know they were Swedish dishcloths. Thanks for your honesty 😅
Thank you for posting...I actually just realized how bloody much it cost for me to buy from Papaya!!! Wow!!!
I am rattling my pitchfork! Am also strangely curious about what Americans use to clean their counter tops with. Is that what those ridiculously long CVS receipts are for? Will Meagan be the patron saint of dishcloths? So many questions!
Wow this is RIDICULOUS!!! Thank you for posting this. I was curious to purchase and I’m so glad I came here.
One thing that I’ve purchased from instagram is kizik, and I love my shoes. They are a bit overpriced but the shoes are a dream.
I found your video because I was looking for real opinions of Papaya. I got in love with their product yesterday until I Saw the price!!! And I was like ehhhh… reviews please. I would not going to expend that much if this product is not worth it. I’m so glad I did!!! Thank you thank you. I look at Amazon for Swedish clothes and voila!!!! And better designs too 👍🏽😊 thank you ❤
Came to UA-cam to find a review on the
product before buying them. Thank you for this.
