  • Sew your PIPING to a PILLOW in this video here: • How to make a pillow o...
    .
    Piping is a fun trim that adds a 3D pop of color to your sewing projects--it's sort of the sister to bias tape, but with rope, or cording, sewn inside. You can buy it at the store BUT you can just as easily make your own! I'll show you how. Then you can sew it around a pillow, chair cushion, pants pocket, dress collar, on a bag...on so many projects. Come sew with me!

    I absolutely love piping on dresses especially historical gowns from the mid 1800s. This is a great tutorial on how to make piping. It really looks great especially on the hemmed edges of ruffles on an 1860s evening gown.

    Just came to your channel thinking maybe I'd find a new video 😂 your blog was the first blog I started reading when I began sewing. I'm still so new to it. Anyway, wanted to drop a video or blog entry request (not sure if there's already one up)...of how to pick fabric! Or even read fabric tags. I always find myself at the fabric store feelings so overwhelmed by the amount of fabric and I have no idea what to pick for certain projects!

    • @HeatherNicola
      @HeatherNicola 5 років тому +1

      ..like your comment - and yes, great idea - I asked my fabric store the other day to tell me about the markings and it turns out the row of numbers in circles, denotes how many colour options there are in that particular design, hence the reason they are marked with the base colour - now I know what colours I can get in that design! Worth knowing! ;-)

    could you also take a plastic straw and tape it to the side of your sewing machine just above the foot area? You thread the piping through it, and it goes under the needle. I think i saw something like this on a reel.
