    Nice! Love the colors! Excited about the fact that you can literally sand and flood or top-coat in 4 hours. I've flooded in 4, 5 and 6 hours using regular epoxies and art coats without sanding for certain designs but some designs that I've done require sanding that had to be done next day therefore I had to flood the following day. This is great news! Definitely will be tryin this product out soon. I still have a lil epoxy on hand.

    Why did you add two coats of the white underlayment and two coats of black underlayment.

    • @sjscovington
      @sjscovington 4 дні тому +1

      The white coats were the bonding primer coats. The black coats were the undercoats. You need the bonding primer to ensure that the subsequent coats cling to the smooth surface of the original countertop surface. The black undercoats help the epoxy coat to cling to the counter surface.

    • @mitchquist
      @mitchquist 3 дні тому +1

      Great question! The two transparent white coats I applied first was our bonding primer we sell designed for slick surfaces like old countertops. It creates a chemical bond for adhesion. Next was our black undercoat which is a paint designed for epoxy projects. Let me know if u have any other questions

    Can you hilight some of the primary differences between Speed Cure and the prior Platinum? Does SpeedCure have more / less UV protection than Art Coat? Can it be used outside?

    • @mitchquist
      @mitchquist 3 дні тому +1

      Speedcure is designed for earth tone and darker colored finishes for experienced DIYers and pros that want the job done quicker.
      We have a brand new product coming soon designed for white and light colored finishes that will never yellow.
      Platinum is a product we had that had bonding issues when you did a clear coat over it with the same product.
      Speedcure isn't designed for outdoor use, our new product will be. Great questions, lemme know if you have any other questions

    So I put ultimate top coat on my counter after doing the epoxy and all the same steps ya'll been doing forever , Why is it so easy to make scratches and marks on it if the top coat is supposed to be a shield of sorts ?

    • @mitchquist
      @mitchquist 3 дні тому

      It shouldn't be scratching easily at all. Shoot me an email with some details about the project and how the utc was applied. I'll get it straightened out. Mitch@stonecoatcountertops.com

    I refinish bathtubs and countertops for over 24 years, and this is looking easier for countertops until it comes to tile and cutting off the backsplash on some of these countertops. He cuts out the part where he had to remove the sink, which involves plumbing. You start messing with plumbing, and you risk more going wrong.

  • @timboe1848
    @timboe1848 4 дні тому

    How does this compare with the platinum version you guys used to sell

    • @mitchquist
      @mitchquist 3 дні тому

      Completely different. This is a fast cure epoxy and platinum was a polyaspartic. Platinum had a issue with applying a clear coat over itself. We have a brand new, never yellow countertop product coming out very soon. Speedcure is for the earth tone and darker color countertop finishes
