Jokes aside this is actually kind of frightening. It is just a reminder that all our work, everything we have built up over the years on UA-cam could just vanish in an instant and there’s really nothing we can do about it…
at the very least something he can (and should) do is set up a real backup system. can't believe his videos are just scattered across random drives on various old desktop carcasses.

It’s why we need to archive the things we care about. Think about the things you like online that you take for granted will be there forever. If UA-cam disappeared tomorrow so many things would be lost to time.
Internet content like this is actually an extremely vulnerable medium and we should try to start taking steps towards archiving it with something better than using Wayback. You can't engage with old Flash content and obscure Angelfire websites from the early aughts, and it's even more difficult to find websites from the pre-Internet boom. It's similar to a lot of the content produced solely for television - how many nostalgic, fun commercials were saved purely by the off chance of someone's mom going long on recording a Dragonball rerun for their kid on a warped VHS? Which itself is another vulnerable medium! We've lost swathes of early film due to improper storage of reels, and VHS has use for keeping tons other types of records (news footage, family videos/daily life or rituals, limited release media).
Like I know it's a Fantano review of a Breaking Benjamin album that I'm commenting on at the end of the day, but it's indicative of a larger issue. And of course no one wants to be the freak archiving a bunch of UA-cam videos onto a 10TB SSD for "record keeping" because who tf would. I really hope that this video can help others become aware of this if they have an interest.

Fun fact: This review was actually the missing 6th 10/10, but UA-cam had to remove it because it would've completed melon's 10s infinity gauntlet.

I have this past memory of Anthony reviewing a Gorgoroth album and of him saying one of the tracks sounded like a black metal hoedown, which was hilarious. However, this video doesn't seem to exist anymore nor can I find any trace of it anywhere so I don't know if this actually happened or if I'm experiencing some kind of Mandela effect or 'Melondela effect', if you will.

I remember watching it back then, it was so weird, the footage was like hyper-realistic, and melon started crying blood tears and everything went black and there was so much noise my old pc had to be shut down.

Somebody on twitter said that the review from Breaking Benjamin was uploaded on "thatistheplan", and it makes sense because if you see the FB post it says "Main Channel:" in the description. Same thing happened with BMTH's That's the spirit, just checked the FB post for that one.

I actually liked the album. Everything I heard from the band afterwards, though, just felt like "we know our sound, let's do more of it." I'd like to see the review, so if you find it, you should just reupload it and see how the 2021 audience reacts to a years-old album review.

Are breaking Benjamin dogshit? My friend listens to them and I wanna know if he got good taste.
They're not something I'd ever play openly, but having loved them when I was in my teenage years I still listen to them every now and then for the nostalgia, and tbh it's kind of comforting, something familiar that takes me back to simpler times.
I can’t believe fantano listened to an entire album, had thoughts about that album, spoke those thoughts out loud in front of a camera, edited it, and then uploaded it to youtube... i’ll never be able to look at him the same way ever again.
I never would have known that albums have songs in it.

Ember has some bangers. Feed the wolf and red cold river are fantastic
It's people who probably listened to them when they were younger and seeing tat they're not critically acclaimed, and so to not look lame for liking "lesser", less "cool" music they just clown on them constantly.
I'm not even a big BB fan. They're fine as far as 2000s rock go. But people really try hard to act above that type of music, it's pretty funny.
You should really listen to their older stuff. Has a grungier, less produced sound than Ember. Not bad if that’s what you like, but personally I enjoy the more raw less electronic sound. We Are Not Alone and Phobia are 2 of my favorite albums ever.

The smugness of Fantano here is offputting, it's a rock band like any other with millions of listeners which doesn't sound anywhere out of place, but he language he uses for condescendingly brushing them off as if their fans should be embarrassed for enjoying them is baffling considering he gave way more dumbed and watered down acts in the mainstream positive reviews. At least dunk on every mediocrity in the mainstream that way, and not just any post-grunge/pop-punk/nu-metal band that doesn't even come close to peak repetitive brainrot in their content.
