Outstanding video! I spent $400 on a repair tech that changed out the motor and didn’t solve the problem. It was the timer and I wasn’t going to spend anymore on a “professional” to solve this. I followed your video step by step and successfully fixed it myself. Thank you for taking the time to record and post this video. Thanks!!

Great video. They really should make these timers a little better quality, the old ge timers made the exact same way were way more better built IMHO.

I had trouble taking the old timer off the bottom clip so I unscrewed round the aluminum module off the black box , still it was difficult but eventually came off with a needle nose pliers.

I have a Amana dryer it's only about 4 years old and went downstairs this morning and for some reason the dryer was running from the night before so I'm believing it might be a timing problem and I have no heat

I’m having the same issue. My clothes are dry but not warm. Like it’s on no heat dry. And it was still on 60 minutes that I originally set it to.

Mine has wires that plug on the top part of the timer as well. Yours and most of the ones on UA-cam are the same. One goes the one pair and the other to the single one

Is it practical and accurate, if instead of checking voltage, a technician would use the clamp meter on amperage setting to check what you troubled shot respecting the timer? Also, from a life personal experience, I have seen technicians hurt from wearing rings and jewelry while doing service work. Thanks for this well presented and accurate video on the Amana dryer. I have recently purchased and installed an Amana NED4655ew1 and transfering knowledge from the hvacr, I will be able to repair the dryer when necessary. Thanks again for your fine video.

All you need to diagnose a bad timer contact is checking for continuity while in high heat between the A, B and C terminals. Doesn't need plugged in, ever. If he's checking for voltage that really isn't the best way to do it, IMO.
(These are repairable, by the way using an emery board)

If you wiggle the timer and it affects the heating element on and off, at that point you know it’s a bad timer..what’s the video for if you are gonna install a new one anyway… no need to go through all this unless you are going to repair bad timer, which I thought would be the case…waste of time

This is great but it surprises me is how shitty this tech is. My car can run 8+ years without a hiccup why can't a simple dryer run for more than 3 years without an issue? Answer: Engineered to fail. They'd rather sell you a new one 3-5 years down the road, unless you are handy enough to follow a youtube video and fix it yourself.

Exactly! I just replaced heating element and all in the back last year and now this timer thing. Everything made now is only made to last 3-5 years, it seems. I’m sick of working on this dryer!
